More shonky 'journalism' from Fox. Watch the whole thing and you'll see the proper context. This bloke rocked up uninvited to an awards ceremony on private property. When he was refused entry he hung around making a pest of himself. When security politely asked him to leave, he wouldn't. They explained to him the concept of being on private property at the invitation of the property's management, but he couldn't grasp it. So they momentarily detained him to explain the options then released him.
We have a hugely different interpretation of what happened. He was on the sidewalk; he had every right to be there. And the irony of the situation was indeed extreme.
@DreamWorldwide Actually I DO know the legalities here, unlike yourself. He was on PRIVATE PREMISES. That's it. And he can be removed from said premises for any reason -or even none at all. It might LOOK like a sidewalk, and it IS a sidewalk. But it's not a public sidewalk. It's a PRIVATE sidewalk. Get it? It's like a sidewalk at Disneyland: your right to be there can be revoked and if you don't comply, force used to remove you. I thought conservatives understood the concept of private property.
A sidewalk *inside* Disneyland is not the same as a walkway to a building. Yeah, it could be argued that the walkway was on the building's lot, but they didn't want him to just stand on the sidewalk by the street (which even by your definition would be completely public); they wanted him to go some hundred yards or so (I don't recall the exact amount) away from even that. Again, if he had been trying to bust into the building or blocking people's paths, I'd be with you.
@DreamWorldwide "Sidewalk", "walkway", "stairs", "ramp", "escalator", "elevator"... Whatever it is, it's on private property and they have the right to ask you to leave -and remove you if you don't. At the end off the raw footage you can see they escort Ziegler and his colleagues out to the public sidewalk. Earlier, Ziegler can be heard to smarmily protest: "You're breaking all sorts of constitutional laws." Horseshit. No constitutional laws have been broken. Go run it past a lawyer.
I don't know about that. It seems lawyers *were* involved at some point. And I think what we're unclear on is where public ends and private property begins. You seem to think that anything within 100 yards of the curb is private, at any building at all, but that's not how it works when it comes to where people can protest, etcetera. Also, they didn't just bring him to a "public sidewalk", but completely away from the building. It's not as clear-cut as you state.
@DreamWorldwide Any idiot can bluff and bluster and put lawyers onto something. And that's what Ziegler did. Then they told him it was completely clear-cut matter and he didn't have a leg to stand on, so he promptly dropped the matter. Incidentally, you should check out some of the other videos up on YouTube of Ziegler getting forcibly ejected from various places -including his own side, a CPAC meeting. He gets off on it. The man's a nut...
"Then they told him it was completely clear-cut matter..." How do you know this?
"...other videos up on YouTube of Ziegler getting forcibly ejected from various places..." Yeah, I know, and I saw the CPAC thing. Obviously, Ziegler Makes his points hard, doesn't back down and sees how far he can go until people either respond or kick him out of places (right or wrong) and it becomes news. The drama created helps him in some ways, and hurts in others. We can probably agree on that.
Hilarious. Couric's candyland line of questioning is branded "mean-spirited." Fact is anybody with a pulse who saw those interviews knows Pain was asked the simplest of questions, and the half wit couldn't reply.

There are probably some dumby conservatives watching this thinking "omg he should sue them, he had every right to be there." Newsflash, he did not, Greta knows he did not have a right to be there, he knows he didnt. This is a made up controversy trying to get publicity for his trashy documentary
Why were Couric's interviews unfair? She asked Palin basic questions What do you read? Name a supreme ct decision. Not Couric's fault Palin looked like an idiot and was stumped. Where does a nobody such as Ziegler have a constitutional right to stay on private property when asked to leave = trespassing. Of course Greta is sympathetic b/c her husband has a sick obsession with Palin, just like Ziegler. Ya like the barricade was for him or anyone even read his article prior to the ceremony.
What the fuck did he THINK would happen? This is exactly what this ass clown wanted and he knows it. He's bashing Katie Couric at her award ceremony! To bad the law is not on his side.
So it's against the law to perform freedom of speech. I remember a couple of years ago where Dick Cheney was being interviewed and all of a sudden someone came out behind a tree and began shouting "Dick Cheney is a douchebag". He wasn't arrested or even removed from the scene.
Hey, here's some legal advice: If you're asked to leave private property, maybe you should. Standing on private property without permission is trespassing. Trespassing is illegal. Illegal activities often get you arrested.
USC is private property. He was asked several times to leave and he refused. He knew what he was doing...

@ShayaMusic Access is not always granted to everyone. This is a fact of life, get over it. I cannot put a press badge on my chest tomorrow and expect to be allowed into the White House Press Conference room as a journalist. Zeigler is not a recognized journalist with zero backing from any media outlet except his own. He shouldn't expect to be given press access to a private event because he is... a nobody.
@damoparman Did you know that Northern Mariana Islands is part of the US? Wikipedia is pretty useful, no? I'm from the continental US though, if that makes you feel better.
After doing some research I found that USC DPS Officers work under the authority of California Penal Code 830.7 (b) which simply states: Police Academy graduates who work for Private Universities have Police Officer Powers of arrest. Mr. Ziegler was advised to leave the private property and he was detained for refusing to do so. Once he was handcuffed and advised again he complied therefore he was not booked. He was granted a second chance, most likely because he is a journalist.
As if ANYONE attending an award dinner for Couric would dirty their hands with that trash "documentary". He knows that and was there for publicity...period. @lennonusman Agreed, just as graceful was she when she allowed Biden to get away with saying FDR got on television in 1929 to calm the nation after the Stock Market's Crash.
Yaganao-are you drunk?..Ziegler wasn't drunk. He was there to question why Katie Couric is being honored for doing media malpractice...typical liberal bias....so sad to see this in America.

Ziegler seemed drunk when he was "interviewing" crazy Sarah Palin, matriarch of the countrys most famous dysfunctional family, & her blaming the media, it was ridiculous!
You asked for examples of the Liberal "Thought Police." Any other journalist would have been free to "do journalism" at a "journalism" event.
But when a Conservative voice shows up, it's a crime.
This would appear very normal in 1930s Germany, arresting a Jewish reporter at a public event for doing his job as the law allows. Back then he would be arrested for being Jewish, here for being a Conservative.
Well, Obama did say he wanted to change America. Happy now?
Oooh he's so bad. You guys make it sound like he used his position at the station to demand sex from the women he worked with. You probably talk shit about women yourselves ya bunch of hypocrites.
during a Ask John Anything segment, he discussed the physical attributes, intimate attire, and genital grooming of Darcie Divita, a WDRB morning television host with whom Ziegler had a relationship until Divita broke up with him. On May 24, 2005, Ziegler was found not liable for damages as Divita was deemed a public figure by virtue of being a television personality. The case is currently on appeal.
Well unfortunately for him USC is a private university so if he was on their property then he did not have the legal right to be there, whether he was doing interviews or just chewing gum.
I would be curious, however, if those were actual police or just campus mall cops. If they are not real police then more than likely they had no right to physically detain him (even when making a citizen's arrest you can't do that in most states).
That is why he can only visit Louisville on special occasions
And after he was asked to leave and refused he was handcuffed. Then he tells them that they can do anything they want. Haha there goes his legal suit.
No. I never said he was. I was merely pointing out that he is not jealous. He thinks Katie Couric is part of the misinformation which is given by the media.

One thing you can't face is how incompetent Palin was... Couric just did her job.. it's just that Palin can't answer simple question..
