  • what good front end works with mame 32 plus?

  • How to you setup the cabinet, control panel, and snap in videos to work

  • Hey Amiga i love your layout man, is there anywhere you can download this by any chance?

  • MAME TOP 115 in my channel !!!

  • THANKS i was having a hard time finding video snaps

  • where did you get the video snaps

  • @atnipjoe circo at emumovies

  • Nice work!

Question- How do you get MALA to show the cabinets? I've got my MALA layout finished but can figure out how to get the cabinets images in there. There is no window called "cabinets" to size and place on the layout.

  • Man that is nice. How do you play Cruisn USA on it? What buttons do you need? Can you just use the joystick to steer?

  • I use the knob / spinner / paddle as the steering wheel and some of the other buttons for gas/brake.

  • nunca pude configurar el mala

  • is mala easy to configure?

  • Compared to some of the other ones I think so. If you just want mame, all of them are pretty simple. But mala is pretty easy to be configured for multiple emulators.

  • anyone know any sites with tutorials on how ot use mala?

  • Definitely. I got my start at arcadecontrols dottt comm. Go to the message board and hit the MALA forum. The current curator of mala reads posts several times a day it seems.

  • thanks

  • amiga2000 ive finlay collected everything i need for my frontend intro movies, snaps artwork etc,but

would like to no where you got the music from while scrolling through your roms, sounds like your actually in an arcade

  • Glad to hear that! google for "Arcade Ambience Project" and you'll find the dude that put it together. nice isn't it?

  • yeh is sounds great,i tried searching for something like it a while ago when i fist seen your video but couldn't find anything, just downloaded them there thanx alot

  • Any way you could send those snap movies over to me? lol, please?!?!?

  • they're available for free at emumovies dot comm

  • Unfortunately, they are now charging for it. :(

  • I got MaLa,and i use mame32.how do i set up a controller.i can't find a way

  • I'm using Mame32 and am having trouble getting some ROMS to work. I'm getting my ROMS from ROMWORLD. Is it just a case of searching other sites to get a better version of the ROM or should i change my version of Mame.Cheers.

  • I scrolled through your posts and came across your computer specs..they are very close to the ones on the dell I just purchased. Can you watch the newest video I posted and give me your opinion on why my preview videos are lagging.

  • What resolution are you running? What are the specs of the videos you're using?

  • Format: AVI (Xvid/MP3)

Resolution: HiQ (640×480) Those are the specs of the preview videos. I am going top try to download the normal quality ones for the new(older) computer. Res in maximus is 1024x768

  • I downloaded lower quality previews today and they run great. Thanks.

  • I just bought the d-9800 monitor I have an arcade vga card also, but do I need to use that with that monitor, or will the graphics display good without it? Do you use a arcade vga card or just the monitor?

  • You can definitely use your ArcadeVGA with any of the tri or multisync monitors that go to low refresh rates and resolutions. That's what the card was designed to do.

However, you can also use a great piece of software called Soft15khz. It's for windows and works with most Nvidia and ATI chipset cards to use your existing card to drive those low resolution and refresh rates. the app is written by SailorSat. Googling for both or either should get you on your way.

  • thanks for getting back to me. Going to check out soft15khz

  • BTW, SailorSat frequently answers publicly posted questions in the "Monitor/Video" forum at arcadecontrols dott com.

  • your video is one of the reasons I got a frontend and preview movies. GREAT JOB

  • Glad to read that Pete. Fun hobby isn't it?

  • Its very addicting I can even add up the hours I put into the cabinet making.. Then the computer aspect of it.. but it was totally worth it. I like your frontend the videos load instantly.

  • I really like your layout and I am trying to mimic it. I have a questions to ask you. For the life of me I am unable to figure out how to link the Marguee/Snap/Control panel pictures to the ROM and display them in MALA when that ROM is selected. Could you fill me in on how you got this to work?

  • Thanks. The key to it is that MALA uses the media with the same name as your rom. So if the game is targ.zip, then each of the media should be targ.png

  • About the layout... it's actually just the default layout with the space invaders planet jpeg removed. Then all i did was arranged the marquee at the top, the control panel at the bottom, and then assigned the snapshot and video preview in the same area. this way, if there is no video, you would at least see the snapshot.

  • Still, would you mind uploading it? I personally suck ass with MALA, and have first now started digging into it.

  • Hey, could i get a copy of your Mala Layout of you? This one rocks!

  • OMG DUDE! THAT'S AWSOME!!

  • I love the layout, is this one you made? If so, could you make it available to DL?

  • The videos, the arcade machines pics... U got to find it by yourself or it came with a packge of the progran ? ( With MALA)

  • Which Mala layout are you using?

  • Can you post a video of how to get this to work? I've been trying and I can't seem to get it to do anything.

Also, how did you get it to show a preview? Mine is just a game list.

  • Have you checked out the mala wiki? what kind of problems are you having?

  • What layout are you using. Can you post a link with your mala config info?

  • I'm casual so I think I'll buy. I mean I don't understand why everyone hates it? Are the buttons unresponsive or anything?

  • I think the buttons and the sticks are responsive. When you play with it, it's just fine. It's only when you compare it side by side with real arcade parts that you'll see that it feels different. ironically, real arcade parts are relatively cheap. you just have to put it together. for example, arcade buttons are only $1.50 - $2.00 each.

  • Did you hear that they now have over 1000 games running for MAME on the PSP?

Also how is the X-Arcade arcade controllers, I'm thinking of buying one.

  • Yeah, the PSP's getting a whole lot better at MAME. Now that the new PSP has TV out capabilities, you can theoretically setup a mame cabinet with a PSP driving everything!

I've used the X-Arcade without the trackball and I think it's a great buy for the price. Although it's not the best. It's nice if you don't want to make your own. If you read the arcade boards, people slam it. Sure it's not the best but most casual users wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

  • Looks cool.

  • awesome!

  • are you using mame32? and if not dose MALA support mame32

  • This is with the regular mame and not mame32. Remember all mame32 is is regular mame with a GUI front end built in. MALA, maximus, atomic, mamewah, etc are all front ends that launch programs. So even if MALA called mame32, you wouldn't notice it anyways.

You can also compile your own version of mame with hacks and features not a part of the standard distribution. You can read about how to do this at:

    mameworld |dot| net |slash| mrdo |slash| compile |dot| html

  • WHAT IS UR PC SPECS

  • It's a pretty standard PC without too many thrills. It's an old Dell PC:

Intel Pentium 4 at 2.5 Ghz and 768mb RAM

    NVidia GeForce4 Ti 4200 on AGP8X

    Wells Gardner D9400 27" MultiSync

If you have a Pentium III you'll be fine also and the emulators use very little RAM.

  • Oh, also it's just running Window XP in classic look and feel mode.

  • I really like the new layout of the screen, never thought of that.

  • That is funky. If there was a standard way to take pictures of cabinets as templates so that you can put the pictures and videso where the screen is that would be cool.

But I guess since cabs come in all sorts of shapes and sizes it would be hard to do.
