Now Siem Reap province has developed a lot and I swear that if you come to Cambodia again, you won't be disappointed! Cambodia, Kingdom of Wonder always welcome for the tourists from all over the world!!! This's the reason why I am proud to be Cambodian :)
Don't miss to visit there, this is the humen masterpiece in the world since 10th century 1000 year ago. You can imagines!.. how can ancient-K pp built Angkor Wat ?
Siem Reap has changed a great deal, especially if you have not been back within the last 5 years. I was there in 2007 as a back packer (for about a month). Its one of those places you should visit if you are in Cambodia. No need to exchange your U.S. Dollar. ATMs are in the City not too far from Ankor Wat. There were abundance of South Korean tourists in the area. Lots of hotels and restaurants and of course night life can be buck wild. The tourist fee was 20 (USD) as of June 2007.
Indraditya and princess Neang Suong were revered as founders of Thais royaume. They were Khmers. In 1283, by royal decree, Thais ecriture was cerated copying and little of twisting from khmer ecritures. That was in1283. Think someone is interested, if not thanks anyway. Ps. In the previous comment I meant when Thais emerged, the khmer traitors gave up Menam area to thais. I have more if anyone wants to know. It's in French, but I'll be glad to write it in English. It's only Khmer history.
In 1283, when Gengis Khan's grand son, Koubitai, had trouble with the Chams. his mogolian army under General Sagatou command bandoned the Khmer project after beeing defeated by Chams. Khmer caught them all. But despite this victory, the Khmer king stiil paid tribute to China as agreed in1285. At the end of his reign Thais emerged and gave up the whole Menam arear to Thais. At the same time, Chiang May throne was occupied by Rama Kamheng, son of Indraditya and princessNeang Suong, Khmer traitors.
Sorry. When I typed Jayavarman II, I meant Jayavarman the VII. Jayavarman the VIII ( 1243 to 1285 ). In 1260, the youngest son of Gengis Khan , Koubilai, conquered China, the Song dynasty. In 1280, he establsed his dynesty as YUAN's. He wanted Khmer to submit to him for tribute. His General, Sagatou, in 1283, lost the war to the North and the central to Cham and returned toward Khmer land who already knew about the Sun men ,mongol, to conquer the khmer. So they all seized by Khmers.
After Indravaman II's ( son of Jayavaraman II ) death in the year 1243, another king came to the throne even no one can tell who he was and who were his royal parents. Was it simply a powerful Mongol of the royal court, ( the kong kong ?) Now can you believe that Khmer history is screwed up?
Only Jayavaraman II was Buddhist. Soryavaraman II was the greatest king. Jayavaraman II 'son namely Indravaraman II started the decline of Khmer empire. Under his reign, Khmer lost Sukhotai and Savankabok to a Thai prince and Embassador namely Pha Muong. With another thai prince, Bang Klang Tao's aide, prince Pha Muong chased the khmer from Sukhotai and declared independent from Kmer at the beginning of the 12th century.
