T'was a small joke, Jesse. No grudge at all, no offense intended. I know you can write. I even checked out one of your first novels from the library, I think the second one. The rocking detective genre is great. It updates the "cool" factor with which the old pulp writers infused their characters. We who didn't go hardcore, and yet despised the plastique of the new wave bands always admired the Skunks. The John Dee and Billy B lineup was and is the bomb. Glad you're playing together again.
jon dee was a monster long before he escaped from the island. I never thought I'd thank Jesse Sublett for anything, since he wouldn't let us open for them, but I do know this. David Ohle showed me some of Jon's fiction from 77 or so, and both he and Sublett CAN write. Cheap Girl and Gimme Gimme Gimme some are classics, and should have gotten national attention. A lot of lesser L.A. bands got the big press instead of some of the great Austin bands.
you're welcome, despite the long grudge. i don't remember ever refusing to let any band open for us. there's a good chance somebody else blamed me for it. I even let Sharon Tate's Baby open for us, despite my strong aversion to the band's name. But whatever. Thanks for acknowledging the notion that I can write. I'm still working on both that and my playing & singing, after 5 books, 30 hours of TV, a movie, etc.
