@santiano42 Have you actually listened to the words? It is toned down from the very anti-Jacobite original source song but it is still anti-Jacobite in tone - or at the very least anti-rebellion. Anglicised it reads "you Jacobites by name, your faults I will proclaim, your doctrines I will blame - do you hear"

Too bad the lyrics were written by those who crushed the Jacobites... They were correct that the rightful king had been displaced. They were butchered, tortured and destroyed for standing up for the truth... All Scots were severely punished for the Jacobites' resistance. But this man does have a great voice and talent.

all scots were punished , funny that ,and heres me thinking it was mainly lowland scots that were fighting bonnie prince charlie and his french mercenarys at culloden , so all scots were not punished ,and the majority ,protestant scots didnt want a catholic ,almost a foreigner ,takeing over scotland, ps my grandfather was a scot , so im not anti scottish by far , i hate the way scottish nationalists are pushing a wedge between us , its a disgrace
