@MetaIIifan you're right about power metal bands (like sabaton, hammerfall etc) but I think we are more famous for the Melodic Death Metal because we kind of invented it :D Some Melodic Death metal bands are In Flames, Amon Amarth, Celebral Oath, Opeth and much much more :D

I think it just depends on what kind of music you're talking about and also if you're looking for a particular set of schools or lyric-themes. I love Korpiklaani, and I love SLAYER, both of which are from different parts of the world. I think neither is necessarily better than the other simply because of where they're from. :)

None really in terms of folk metal, I bet it would be cool if some kids in the Appalachians did though. Like if they combined Appalachian folk music with metal it would be cool, have mandolin players and fiddlers. Or a band form Louisiana combining old french folk music with metal... But don't forget Absu, Riggor Mortis, Possessed, Cirith Ungol, and Nunslaughter are all American bands.

Britian held the title for the longest time, but then America took that torch with thrash for the 80's, but as more European bands emerged form thrash-its clear that Europe is the best place in the world for metal today. America is absolute crap for metal, it is totally plagued by crappy screamo bands. this is coming from an American as well
