  • water is a great place to live, it does not surprise me taht wild animals would find refuge in the water, and evolve to live there over millenia of running from tigers and lions

  • @fishbowl4202: Heh. Yes. You run from the predators who know you and prey upon you. InOnto the land and for a while you are safe from all water predators. Then, when you have adapted to land and evolved a bit, land predators become prevalent. So, you seek refuge in the water and, for a while, are safe again.

  • For the same reasons hippos have done so. They are safe from land predators and living in rivers leaves them safe from sea predators. The part I find fascinating is wondering what drove them from the rivers out to sea :)

  • @RyuDarragh

maybe in areas with no rivers, but with sealine, they would find refuge from land predators in sallow water, where no big sea predators would get, and over time going further into the sea? just wild guessing...

  • I figured this by myself when I used to watch "Roseanne." That was a pretty damn good show.

  • 2nd. I learned this in biology :P
