  • Ruby Tuesday was #1 on the US charts March 1, 1967, my birthday! It's a great song and this is one of the best scenes in an incredible movie.

  • Great scene indeed. But the best part of this scene is still his answer "I doubt it...", and then Ruby Tuesday come alone.....AWESOME.

  • I really love how restrained Wilson and Paltrow's performances are. But at the same time, their eyes are so expressive. It's like all their emotions are channeled through them.

  • so beautiful

  • one of the greatest love scenes ever.

  • what minute in the film does this scene start at?

  • her haircut is awesome.

  • i watch this video every day. i think i'm kind of in love with richie tenenbaum.

  • Luke Wilson was such a hottie

  • I got that Stones LP too! Yes!

  • every single time, when I watch this scene, my heart starts pumping, my stomach tightens, and in the end I ask: why not? just why?

one of the best scenes ive ever seen. thank you, thanks for everybody who made it...:)

  • I love this scene. Thanks a lot for uploading !

  • One of the best movie scenes ever. It's perfect. In every way.

  • i'm a chick whos listened to nick drake religiously for years and i still havent met a guy who finds that cool about me. seriously must be meeting the wrong people.

  • @hazeyjaneI I find that cool.

  • Haha, the javelina makes it

  • Finally i found it! The songs are "She smiled sweetly" and "Ruby Tuesyday", The Rolling Stones.

  • I LOVE THE TENT.

  • Favorite. Scene. Ever.

  • Nick Drake Is better than the Beatles!

  • the face she makes after he says, "i doubt it." gah. make me swell up with tears everytime.

  • i love their little tent

  • Nothing beats the first kiss from someone whom you have always loved. I have experienced this once in my life. Unfortunately we didnt last but, Wes captured the feeling so well in this scene that i honestly felt the same emotions over again.

  • @eza27 was it your sister?

  • The three people that didn't like this? Obviously Raleigh, Eli and Desmond.

  • their kiss is SO intense.

  • @4:20 - "GOOOOD-bye, EEEEEMP-ty wall space! Whooo cooould haaaang a reallyweirdlookingdeer'sheadonaplaque on you?!!"

  • Man, I gotta get me that version of BTB with "Sweetly" as track 2 and "Tuesday" as track 3. What's that, the Australian?

Nice try, Wes. We're nerds too, ya know.

(Seriously though, flat-out classic scene. I'm just a dick, don't mind me...)

  • @narozzz Actually, you're funny.

  • Love how they confess love for each other. It's not sentimental, flamboyant or full of romantic rhetoric. Rather, it sounds blunt, straightforward and solid like rock. Both realize they don't need to get emotional or flowery. Their love is right from the genuine heart of sincerity, which they've hold in themselves for long, and its strength is more firm than anything else. They are in a transcendent state.

  • Between the Buttons

  • I cry everytime she crys at the end of this scene

  • this scene always makes me cry

  • man she got a big head

  • great movie.. one of my all time favorities.

  • She was bending the record's sleeve. That makes me nervous.

  • @earlysixties - I can see I'm in good company here....

  • Incest brah. MORE LIKE WINCEST!

  • that smack at 2:35 is the sexiest noise i have ever heard

  • Nick Drake makes the most beautiful yet dark music

  • This is the best scene. of all time.

  • One of the most romantic scenes I've ever seen.

  • I love the soundtrack for this movie! Nick Drake has always been a favorite of mine...

  • 'She Smiled Sweetly' and 'Ruby Tuesday' aren't on the same album...I forgive you though Wes, this scene is perfect!

  • @Jabsta They did appear on the US version of Between the Buttons but not consecutively like they are here.

  • @Jabsta

Wrong. See wikipedia / search for Between_the_buttons

    American track listing

  • I saw this movie a couple of days ago and i watched it again two more times, i love it

  • "You're not gonna do it again, are you?"

    "I doubt it"

    (look at Gwen...SO heartbreaking)

    CUE MUSIC

    BOOM!

    MAGNIFICENT!!! Wes Anderson...I'm Speechless!

  • i love the way he looks at her. like he cares about her so much it hurts. that he just wants to reach out and hold her forever and ever.

  • @PeaceLoveMonika i know this movie is perfect

  • this was back when luke wilson was totally HOT. damn he was absolutely adorable.

  • i love wes anderson's cinematography in all his films

  • Wes Anderson's movies just navigate me, steer me through all the songs that I love, and make sense of it all. Nick Drake clear through "Ruby Tuesday." Jesus, Wes Anderson, you're clever. Keep making sense, please, of the nonsensical.

  • ITS STILL HIS SISTER! biological or not

  • @fokmi And it's also something that could really happen.

  • i love 0:31 when he opens the tent and looks at her and he makes that weird "hmh?" sound. and when they kiss. i love how into each other they are.

  • Luke Wilson is really hot when he shaves it all off

  • love this scene so much :) she smiles sweetly.......

  • I love that Margot is wearing a baret in her hair like little kid. Funny.

  • Magic captured on celluloid. Kudos, Mr. Anderson.

  • nick drake <33

  • my favorite movie ever

  • she was listening to nick drake by herself. what a catch.

  • Fucking wes anderson

  • One of the best movie scenes. So heartbreaking. It never fails to make me cry.

  • They were an amazing couple on and off screen! Luke has something special about him that I just can't verbalize, maybe it's because we are both from Dallas and the same age? I saw him at Stanley Korshak w/ Gwyn in 2002. Great post! Thanx! :-)

  • heartbreaking to say the least.

  • This is one of the most beautiful things I've seen, ever.

  • Isnt she his sister?

  • She's adopted.

  • @JessicaBreathsMusic adopted sister

  • Did you ever notice there is something a little bit off tune in Ruby Tuesday? The bass is a little too loud, the harmonies aren't fully in key, and it's a bit like a home recording? Just makes it even better. One of the most beautiful moments of the 60 s.

  • i love this movie and this scene is just beautiful!

  • hi every1! does anyone know the title of the last song in this scene? thx a lot;)

  • Ruby Tuesday by Rolling Stones

  • and the 2nd? sorry i haven't asked earlier:)

  • Also by Rolling Stones, the song is called "She Smiled Sweetly".

  • I owe you one! or even 2:)

60's are definitely the greatest period ever

  • Probably my favorite scene. But maybe not.

  • Comment removed

  • not really, it was royal's and they took it down, richie puts it back up for him, right before heading to see him at the hotel

  • What's the song Margot is playing at the beginning of the scene?

  • It's Nick Drake..."Fly" i think it's called.

  • @gordonw01

    Thank you :)

  • Such a touching scene. They loved each other so much,so sad

  • " i doubt it" I love these two. This movie always gets me. I wonder if Richie and Margot ever had a happy ending. :/

  • what does he say after she asks if he's going to do it again? I've listened a bunch of times and can't make it out

  • "I doubt it"

  • he says, 'i don't know'.

  • uggggggh those cuts always give me chills

  • this scene legit made me cry >.>

  • I love this scene, but at 2:20 her head looks gigantic for awhile o.O

  • You are right. It looks frighteningly huge, like she was the Predator, from the movie Predator. Its freaking me out.

  • i noticed that too ahah

  • hahaha wooow dude

  • @CrayolaCoffeeCo ahaha, oh, god. i never really noticed before, probably because i was looking at luke but you're right. it's like she's in magnification or he's way back in the background.

  • interesting. never noticed the continuity error with the stylus before.

  • margo, margo, richie, richie, margo& richie :)

  • An incredibly moving scene

  • i love this movie! its very original.

  • such a warm lovely film with such real and intense emotions

  • It's interesting that "Fly" and "Needle in the Hay", the songs that highlight Richie's suicide attempt were written by two guys who committed suicide. Nick Drake 27 years before the movie came out and then Elliott Smith 2 years after its release.

  • The Elliott Smith "suicide" is still a mystery.

  • are you kidding me? He had a big fight with his wife and he stabbed himself in the chest 2 times. thats completely plausible.

  • Perhaps the song was chosen on purpose, I don't think the people affiliated with such a movie would be as aloof to ignore details like that

  • God, that is a beautiful scene. Are they just not together in the end? I didn't fully get it...

  • ruby tuesday!

  • Fly by Nick Drake

  • that is actually the correct way to slash your wrists..., if you want to die that is..

  • good advice.NOT!

  • It's not advice. It's a fact.

  • whatever....

  • petualnt child

  • ?!?!?!

    dude.. come on!

  • No, I will not touch your penis.

  • be a man ...

  • fuck that, you can pick the soap up first...

  • please, mind the gap between the bathtub and the penis holder

  • god i love this film. and that scene- gah this couple are amazing.

  • IS amazing.

  • "I think we're just gonna have to be secretly in love with each other and just leave it at that."

    beautiful scene.

  • this scene really is lovely

  • I think he says " I don't know"

  • lovely part of a great movie

  • i love this movie so much

  • Aww this scene is so beautiful. =) I love it.

  • Aww, I love Richie. :}

  • Man!!! I love this film, I've watched it so many times, I've lost count!

  • she smiled sweetly!!! i loved this movie..

  • I think of my female cousin this way

  • ...It isn't weird for him to love her cause it's his adopted sister..... loving your actual cousin is a little creepy.... however although frowned upon... I support you

  • we are not blood related anyways lol

  • Well, I don't think he ever really considered her his sister. They weren't an especially close family to begin with, so I can't really see it as that gross or creepy. Beautiful scene.

  • That is true. And throughout her life, Royal always referred to her as "my adopted daughter" and told her that her family wasn't "really" her family, so it makes sense that she doesn't see his as her brother.

  • 3:43, great scene man, great movie

  • What does he say after Margot asks "you're not going to do it again, are you?"

    Thanks (:

  • he says I doubt it

  • Ruby Thuesday des Rollings Stones

  • whats the second song?

  • arnt they brother and sister in the movie?

  • she was adopted so it's legal, but probably frowned upon ;)

  • lmao probaley

  • Cool one sad Nick Drake and two light-happyr Rolling Stones songs combined in one clip.

  • the second song is ruby tuesday by the rolling stones

  • This cover sounds GREAT.

  • What is the second song that comes on the record player? It sounds like Dylan. What is the name of the song?

  • Stones "She Smiled Sweetly"

Why'd you do it? because of me?

Yea, but it's not your fault.

  • AHAHAHA, "what are you doing in my tent?" AHAHAHA

  • aren't they brother and sister??!!

  • She's adopted.

  • i love that this is the only scene where Margot shows any emotion at all.

    So beautiful

  • this is the best part in the entire movie....

  • Runner-up.

The best part is the suicide scene.

  • lol, I actually thought this was based off a book.

  • This is probably one of my favorite movies ever. Wes Anderson is my hero! This is also my favorite scene in this movie, so beautiful and touching but at the same time sad. I will always love this flim!

  • what does richie say when margot asks him if he's going to try to commit suicide again? I cant ever catch it.

  • he says "i doubt it."

  • This is a beautiful scene...and Richie is SO hot.

  • The first time I saw this scene, I freaked out when Ruby Tuesday started playing

  • this movie reminds me of my family.

    This movie is brilliantly amazing.
