@madmax2069 when I wrote that post I had no idea something needed to be much more powerful to emulate something else. Sorry I was ignorant at the time. But what strikes me is odd is that if they are powerful enough to emulate a gameboy color, and they cost so much, why not put a decent display on them? It would help so much with the graphs.
@raney150 The TI-Nspire CX has a color display, but it no longer has 84+ emulation, prevents Ndless from running and the slidecase is sold separately. As for the old TI-Nspire you can run games like DOOM, but the display is indeed crappy, causing a lot of blurring.
@xxcapponxx Don't be too quick to judge man. If you switch keyboards you can get a fully operational ti-84. However I would like to see some statistics for a ti-nspire running with a ti-84 interchangeable keyboard. 0_o
@2897ben it is exactly the same as the TI-84 and it is faster if you bought the newer ones in 2010, but Nspire CX/CAS is coming out LOVE COLOR SCREENS!!
I finally did the nspire ndless hack the gbc4nspire is great, I use it during class to play pokemon while everyone else is playing puzzle pack or something with mirageos. At least the gaming is better than the competition
The NSpire has a higher resolution screen, which means it needs to pump out more pixels to update the display... Considerably more pixels. It also has a much more sophisticated user interface for the display, which adds additional overhead. People aren't buying this calculator to get something that can scroll text faster than is humanly possible to read. People buy this to get a calculator which can perform actual (useful) calculations much faster. Try some much more sophisticated math.
what is that counter program you have there and how do I do that on my TI-83? I don't have a data cable for my calc so how hard is it to program in this little app?
@theshllapi I agree. But this Nspire has her advantages to. Because of this very large screen. But I have the 89Titanium and the Nspire CAS both and I prefer using my 89.
I'm new to the whole calc thing so what do I know, but as I understand it, the TI-Nspire is not optimized for programming and has a ton of math capability and a GUI. And it is 2 Calculators in one(if you got the package I did). The TI-84 Keypad and OS are much better for programming but no GUI, just menus. And I bet the Nspire can be tweaked to run faster.
@Old420School: That's right. Even though The Nspire is almost 6 times faster than the closest competitor in this video (TI-89 Titanium); what makes the Nspire slower in this video is the fact that the other calcultors are running assembly code, while the Nspire has to run High-level code (which is almost always slower than using assembly code).
Now that some1 has hacked the Nspire, it would be interesting to redo this video, but this time running assembly instructions on the Nspire.
@DJOmnimaga Gameboy color? Graphing calculators are that far behind in technology that they are now getting to where they can reach the power of a gameboy color?
@raney150 they are far more powerful then the gameboy or gameboy color, that is why they can emulate a gameboy color.
do you even know what emulation is ? I take it that you do not.
notice how he said a gameboy color emulator and not finally reaching the power of a gameboy color.
Emulation requires the host computer to be on the order of magnitude faster then the hardware the host computer is going to emulate (depending on hardware architecture differences).
i want to see how fast my nspire cx can do this but i dont know how to do this program(im new to useing TI calculators)

The TI-Nspire has better graphics, so it is "slower". Look at the menu at the top and the slidebar on the right.

Get the black ti-nSpire with touchpad...I has updated os and has a mouse trackpad on it.

could you please tell me the code for the nspire? Cant watch it.. :/

Dude you should have run the nspire with the ti84 keypad.

This is nonsense, when you buy Nspire you look for computing power, not for display power... and after all, it has 320*240 display.

What was the program for the nspire it's too blurry I can't see it.

@DJOmnimaga: don't forget which type of output thé calculateur use. On TI n spire the result can be reused! It's not a simple output like others.

@DJOmnimaga DJ, at least it is not 1.1, that does not program at all
Also, 1.6 seems a bit faster for but still slower then the conventional calcs

What OS is that nspire? If it is 2.0, downgrade and try again
sensitivebeat 1 year ago
@sensitivebeat version 1.7
DJOmnimaga 1 year ago
@DJOmnimaga Ohai, DJ, didnt realize it was you! Nevermind then... Ah, thats right, on 2.0 it's even slower (or it could just be my calc)
sensitivebeat 1 year ago
@sensitivebeat Wow even slower? Darn, is TI getting worse with the time? x.x
DJOmnimaga 1 year ago
@DJOmnimaga Feh, just wait till 2.1 I know it will prevent downgrading, so I are not going to take it

Thank god (and all the programmers) for Ndless! Now we can make OVAR 9000 more things possible, and beat the other calculators in the race!

Keep in mind the TI-Nspire is being hacked now, though. Soon, ASM (much faster) programs will be executable on it, such as a Game Boy Color emulator.
The song is Top Gear Course #1 on the Super Nintendo

nspire doesnt necessarily run faster, it just has more things it can do. and can do them easier.
