I was sitting to the right in the faculty section. I think it is even better in the video. We should mention that Charlie was the president of the Student Association that year, and that Erin became his fiancée (she doesn't look like a fiancé at all) that day. Good luck and God bless them both!

I don't think he was stealing the rest of everybody's thunder that much. A proposal is one of those unique, almost random occasions (and I should know) where it's permissible to piggyback onto another event. It's not like a competing event: one is graduation, another is marriage.

Now if it were at someone else's wedding, that would be a little bit questionable, but I think nobody minds at a graduation.
