Officer need to be re trained in when to fire. An officer was in a car chase and the car wrecked out. The driver tried to go in reverse away from the officer. The officer started to fire he hit the guy 2 times. The officer is now in jail because the whole thing was on video. The video is on Youtube as well.
This was all wrong from the begin Angle 1 show's the officer getting out the car walking to the truck. Than the truck goes in back away from the officer with wheels turn left. The officer start's to fire after as the trunk moves to the left and away from the officer. The truck was no longer a threat and a pursuit should have started than. Had the officer in the rear fired it would have been justified shooting. IA should have charged this officer.

was involved in something similiar. I was dragged by suspects vehicle and when I came loose he came back and ran me over. The only thing that saved him from not being shot was that he had his 15 mo. old son in the vehicle with him. Other Officers had a couple opportunities to shoot him when he came back to try and run me over again and was stopped, a clean head shot was possible but not taken. he was in custody a short time later I was left with a broken neck and other injuries. come do our job

Also all the shots fired or almost all were shot sideways from the right side of Justin Elmore. That shows the suspect is being shot at while fleeing, not attacking. Last, when Justin backed up into the cruiser, that was assault with a deadly weapon, which then allows officers to shoot to stop I guess.?

When you try to run down an officer with a vehicle it becomes a situation of using lethal force to stop someone from killing you with a 1 ton vehicle. The shooting was justified and that is why the deputies were not indicted. Unfortunate that someone was killed but justifiable use of force on the part of the deputies. If this was a violent offender in the past or who had committed violence against officers before he could be shot for fleeing. And, if they were in the process of serving a felony arrest warrant, fleeing is a hostile act in some jurisdictions.

Officer need to be re trained in when to fire. An officer was in a car chase and the car wrecked out. The driver tried to go in reverse away from the officer. This was all wrong from the begin Angle 1 show's the officer getting out the car walking to the truck. Than the truck goes in back away from the officer with wheels turn left. The officer start's to fire after as the trunk moves to the left and away from the officer. The truck was no longer a threat and a pursuit should have started than. Had the officer in the rear fired it would have been justified shooting. IA should have charged this officer.

was involved in something similiar. I was dragged by suspects vehicle and when I came loose he came back and ran me over. The only thing that saved him from not being shot was that he had his 15 mo. old son in the vehicle with him. Other Officers had a couple opportunities to shoot him when he came back to try and run me over again and was stopped, a clean head shot was possible but not taken. he was in custody a short time later I was left with a broken neck and other injuries. come do our job

Only thing i can say about the Richmond County Sheriff's Department is that they are the best of the best. Ronnie Strength is a man of high character, therefore the officers have to be of the same moral fiber. Color is truly not a factor with RCSD. All are equal. And they enforce the law with equality. Went to school with Sheriff Strength, even back then he was the one that wanted to be the peace maker and defend the defenesless. Augusta would welcome a police officer such as Paul Porter.

@bumlb54 Shooting people trying to run u over is not really a valid argument because by the time you might get a shot in them the vehicle would have done what it was doing even with a shot driver. So shooting drivers does not help to stop cars.

@jakfox44 Wow after rewatching the video it clearly appears to me that Justin Elmore tried to avoid the police officer who was standing in front of his car. And he did avoid him. Also all the shots fired or almost all were shot sideways from the right side of Justin Elmore. That shows the suspect is being shot at while fleeing, not attacking. Last, when Justin backed up into the cruiser, that was assault with a deadly weapon, which then allows officers to shoot to stop I guess.?

Brazilian LEOs can shoot an unarmed fugitive if he's running away. Egyptian Security Forces engaged peaceful protest with live ammunition. Should I continue?
