The melody wasn't suitable as a rock song, so Larry Tamblyn of the Standells actually re-wrote it (but didn't get songwriter's credits).

@KOSMICKEN09 yeah man, the Standells were tight. They had a really pure sound, in a time when music was getting over-produced.
