The trouble with Oasis is they've been ruined by songs like wonderwall and don't look back in anger because they've been overplayed and everyone just gets bored of them. But songs like this remind you why they are the biggest band of the last 20 years

Noël dedicated this one to one of the main mans in indiemusic...namely Richard Ashcroft. Whattalegends, both of 'em. Oasis live in Amsterdam, 21st of Januar! Talked my way in the last time, this time I'll be on time for the tickets :)
Listening to this song over and over again, I've realised that you have to be a man to really understand it. "As they took his soul they stole his pride"...this line just gets deep inside my chest.
"as they took his soul they stole his pride" fucking awesome line, im 14 and even im in love with this band. well i did spend most of my early life listenin to it
That's arguable. At the same time, it's not all that smart to bash your own fans. I bet a lot of their Australian audiences and American audiences felt really hurt by that, particularly since they're popular in both countries. I know I was, but I was never terribly fond of Liam to begin with. Seriously.... He thinks he's the reancarnation of John Lennon.... Crazy, much? I just can't understand why he puts his band through the punishment that he does. Love Noel, though. Neol's great.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It's a great song. Noel's an amazing songwriter- I just wish they had a better lead singer. Liam is a so-so singer and keeps getting the rest of the band in trouble. Makes me feel bad for the poor guys.
It just means he isn't "that" great. He isn't bad, but Oasis deserves better- and preferably someone who doesn't think they're the bloody reancarnation of John Lennon.
I love their music- but they got booed off stage because Liam is notoriously critical of U.S. and Australian musicians. He has, on several occassions, insulted our tastes in music and whatnot.
yeah man lookin back now when i first bought that album years ago this was my least favourite song on the album now i skip straight to it whenever i put mornin glory on lol
I think its dedicated to Richard Ashcroft and i read an interview with Noel where he basically says its about Ashcrofts struggle to get The Verve out on a bigger scale before they hit it big. Ashcroft really didn't get why the Verve took so long to "make it", you do have to wonder as the Verve are amazing too and glad they are back!! Its a beautiful song and shows the depth of Oasis, not that many people see it for some strange reason. The most important band of this generation!!
Noel is a complete lyrical genius! Oasis are the greatest band ever to have recorded and we should be grateful for the chance to say "We were a part of them" - just as some of todays parents were in the 60's with The Beatles.
Singles get too much press and popularity and most people buy the single cos they heard it on the radio and its whats good at the time, whereas if you buy an album, you want to here more tracks like the singles that have been released, imagine buying an album that's released a few singles on from it that were shit hot, then on the album is just garbage to fill the CD. You'd be gutted.
One day, we wont look like shit cunts, but the music industry at the minute is a fuck up, it isnt about the talent, its about how lined your producers pockets are..
This has got the best vocal harmonies by the brothers..."bound with all the weight...."...superb.
Ive heard noel say that one would cast no shaddow if they were invincible and there lies the tribute to mr ashcroft. Alongside noel another great philosopher musician with a beautiful soul.
