  • very nice, chill daddy-o

  • Hey Mr. Lot2learn. Man that was tasty! Why? Because you don't put too many notes in it. Concise and to the point. Just right.

A question: What kind of keyboard is this? And I assuming the bass and drums were not over-dubbed. Is that right?

    Thanks for posting.

  • @joeb434 I appreciate your comment, thanks!

  • I love the voicings you chose to use for your left hand. They complement the right hand very well!

  • Really nice man! Would love to see this at a show. Do you tour?

  • what a mellow tone!

  • Now, that's Jazz!! I could listen to you all day.

  • @Lot2learn i got a bunch of your clips in my favorites. your right next to erroll, oscar, mulgrew.your doing it!

  • @martinlehfeldt Thanks.

  • As Always enjoy your playing! What is the brand of keyboard you are using? Thanks

  • Thank you for the comment. I am playing a Roland FP-4 keyboard.

  • Pretty good swing feel! Phrasing gets a little choppy every time before the turnaround--practice cliche licks for turnarounds in all 12 keys (for that mode), and you'll be able to blow through/sound less like noodling in key. ; )

  • Classic. Also, sorry if you have answered this a few hundred times but, what is the the make of this keyboard?

The piano samples are above average. How is the action?

  • Roland FP-4. Decent fully weighted action.

33 lbs make it great for gigging.

    teach me)

  • HI, despite the fact that I got the same keyboard I'm not able to play so well ! Great swing and chords. Bassist and drummer background are an asset.

  • Thank you for your nice comment.

  • every one plays different but wow... you are a very talented piano player. Nice chords and turn arounds

  • Thanks so much for your nice comment. Ooit, ik hoop naar bezoek nederland!

  • you are really amazing!!

  • So niiice! Loved the turnaround at 1:04 or so. In fact, loved the whole thing. Swingin' high and swingin low. It's a testament to how much can be said without resorting to big, fancy runs. Chapeau.

  • Hey man, are the drums and bass samples from the Fp4?

If so that's freakin amazing! Esp the inital attack on the bass strings!

  • That's a real bass player and drummer - backing tracks available at jazzbooks dot com.

  • This is one of my fave tunes, you did it great service, great swing feel, bravo!

  • Thanks for the nice comment.

  • This swings like a mother. And you are in a mellow tone, baby. I'm trying to figure out how I can get on stage with you and a couple Steinways so we can trade some fours and like that.

  • Very nice! Is it necessary to have perfect pitch to be able to create such beautiful lines? What's the process of your improvisation, do you imagine every single note before you play it, or you are using patterns, scales or something else?

  • It would help, however, I think a good relative pitch would work, also. Gotta get the chords down. You need to hear them in your head (if you are doing all this by ear) and feel them. I don't think he is imagining every note. He is feeling them. He knows the melody, he knows patterns and scales.

  • You're so right..."gotta get the chords down" and "I don't think he is imagining every note...he is feeling them" <===Bingo

  • He is using combinations of all of them. You can take the the elements of a chord, for example, and play notes around the chord incorporating the melody (in the right hand). If the notes in the right hand are conflicting with the chords in the left, it won't sound good.

  • Right you are.

  • Nice chord change ups. I plan to borrow a few. Thx!

  • is always interesting to listen to the same songs from various musicians, the character and the interpretation changes from person to person and also the music.

Nice chords changes at 2:12 - Great Job
