  • I love Orlando.. i use to live there and you brought me memories from those places on the video.. driving wise, you did good!

  • Thanks! :)

  • you're welcomed!

  • @CasbahdeTanger

If you like Orlando then you obviously have never been to a real city.

  • I use to live right next to Downtown Orlando but i moved to Lake Nona

  • If only people didn't block the intersection like that in Philly... being as packed as it is, you'd think they'd do a better job of it. "Don't block the box"

  • whats the name of the song at 3:40 great vid

  • I wish I knew the name, it's a good song :)

  • coldplay-clocks

  • Downtown Orlando is so metropolis. It's ideal for city people, like myself. I live in Lake Buena Vista but thinking about going to move to the Daytona Beach metro. :) nice vid.

  • I used to live at the Dorms at UCF in the early 80's .Downtown Orlando looks better today. I do however miss Old Colonial mall.

  • They've really built up downtown Orlando, it's a beautiful downtown. I used to work in colonial Mall back during the 1980s. Thanks for commenting!

  • Downtown looks better today? Huh? It's a dump and unsafe. It wasn't like that in the 1980's.

  • nesman, in the vid it lookes great, but I was there in the 60's 70's and 80's it didnt look so hot in the 80's to me

  • Well today they have tattoo parlors and plenty of empty buildings. Just about everything they try to bring into downtown fails. It's not a safe place around to walk during the day or night.

  • nes, The florida, I was born in (1960) & raised in is now gone, I do not ever see moving back. What a shame.

  • Ah, Steve... thanks for such a fun stroll for me down memory lane: this video reminds me of my dad teaching me to drive... and of me giving him plenty of sass while he was doing it... :-D

And it was mighty cool of you to make this a video response to "Dawn Drives Hollywood". Thanks so much.

  • Thanks very much, Dawn, very glad you enjoyed it. Have a great day :)

  • You're a good, calm driving instructor, albeit the city looked pretty quiet that day. I did enjoy your daughter's comments: would've been nice to see her face!

In any case, it's nice to see another video in that "city shot through the window of a moving car" genre. Thanks for being my first video response!

  • You're welcome :) I enjoyed your video so much, I just had to post a response. All the best, have an excellent day!

  • You're a very brave man LOL :) I miss Florida... awesome beaches!

  • LOL It took all the bravery I could muster, for sure! Thanks for reminding me about the beaches, it's just about that time of year :)

  • Wow, Orlando... I used to live there. I haven't seen it since 1979. Sounds like you're having a fine drive. I think that lake you drove by was right near the one place I used to live.

  • The lake, I can't think of the name, is just past the old Orlando Utilities building and City Hall. It's a very beautiful lake, too bad I didn't get a better view of it.

  • The first week I had my driver license I had a minor accident, which looking back was actually kind of good because I got it out of the way, so to speak.

  • The first car I ever owned was a Chevette. I owned it for 4 hours, and drove to a friend's out in the country and ran into a stump! The car actually ended up on top of the stump, and all these guys came out of the house and helped me get it down. Damaged the underside of the car. True story!

  • Nerd! I cracked up when she called you that! Lol. The best part of this video IS the audio, I'm so glad you left it in. You and your Daughter are great together, had me laughing and smiling. Thanks for taking us along for the ride!

  • It's cool to be a nerd LOL Thanks for commenting :)

  • yay! another reason to tighten my belts! lol!!! good job to your baby on getting her permit, ill be going threw all this soon but for now im going to enjoy the non driving my kids are doing.

  • Non-driving kids are must less hair-raising than driving kids LOL

  • oh my!

    ;-)

  • Learning to drive is a scary thing lol

  • I gots mad driving skillz.

  • This is true :)

  • Your daughter is a good driver and congrats to her for receiving her driving permit! Thanks for the ride through Downtown Orlando.

  • Thank you. I think she's driving very well, she only needs to build up her confidence. And that too shall come. :)

  • Pretty city. The down town wher I live is scary.

  • The city government spends a lot of money on downtown, the look of it and development. They have a certain amount of pride, I think, in mantaining the image of "the City Beautiful." Plus they want to attract tourists lol

  • Yeah it is nice there.

I agree that the way to learn is to just do it. When I was trying to learn with my mom it was just stress, stress, stress. Once I finally got to get on my own it all sort of worked ot.

  • Worked out also, yes

  • My dad used to be terrified to be in the car with me, and we were only going 35 miles per hour lol

  • Yeah I can relate. I remember once I was driving in an empty parking lot with my mom, and about 50 feet up ahead it ended and emptied out on to the road below. I was really no where near it, and I had already started to turn left. Still, she had her hands up over her face, screaming bloody murder. DON'T GO OVER AHHHHHHHHHHHH

Yeah, that was an awesome way to learn

  • Beautiful city.

  • Orlando is nicknamed "the City Beautiful" :)

  • Very pretty city there.

  • It really is a nice place to live. Wish I could have made the video higer rez, but I'm glad you're able to make things out anyway. Thanks for commenting :)

  • LOL! Downtown Orlando is what you'd call intensive training. But it does look like she handled it well.

Except for those deleted scenes... :-)

    Moosie

  • The deleted scenes were of pedestrians being flung left and right, nothing special ;)

  • Haha! It'd be fun to hear their screams, though.

  • Thanks for sharing your experience it all looked and sound normal to me it's just the way it is when you love someone parents get nerves about their kids getting experience in real life situations

  • As anxious as I may have sounded, I had, and have, great faith in my daughter. She did a great job driving through downtown! And I'm very proud of her :)

  • i drove once and only once in my lifetime. the reason is because whenever you step on the gas an angel loses his napkin at dinner time. now i let my cat drive the car so i wont get blamed for my naughty behavior.

  • An angel loses his napkin at dinner time! Hahahahaha!!!

  • Okay, several things occur to me. One, you are an ANNOYING front seat driver Steve. Leave the kid alone.

Secondly, there were two cuts in this video and no disclaimer stating "NO PEDESTRIANS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS VIDEO".

    What's up with that?!?

I want to see the deleted scenes!!! ;-)

  • You don't want to see the deleted scenes LOL

  • Aww... Come on... :-P

    Moosie

  • Show us the missing eighteen minutes of tape Steve...

You can run but you cannot hide.

    ;-)

    The Truth is out there!

  • 95 miles an hr. is the speed i drive

  • Me too, but don't tell my daughter lol

  • HA! LOL! Just think, in a few months she won't be saying this is too intense. She be whipping around the town on her own, and you'll have a few extra expenses. All of a sudden she'll be amazed how much gas & insurance costs, LOL! BTW, I think TheLoathlyMommy is gonna have some choice words for you after she sees this....Ha! Your Daughter sounds together, where did she get that from? Teasing!!

  • TheLoathlyMom seems slightly amused for the moment. For the moment that is......

  • There's two sides to it: On one hand, our kids don't realize the worries we have. In their view, we are being impatient and only making them nervous. It's something we have all gone through or will have to endure, yet they end up getting their license and are happy and free, but we continue to worry.!? My daughter is 23 and married now, yet I still worry about her .

  • I have another daughter who is in college, and, yes, definitely, I know she's grown and making her own way... but I still keep a close eye and worry about her. I suppose I always will.

  • Sounds like DAD needs to be PATIENT.. and let her drive. I usually just half watch otherwise I would have to be committed to the nutty farm!

  • It's a scary thing LOL

  • dont panic daddy, she will be fine shes doing good....

  • She drives better than me lol

  • she drove fine to me. i use to drive with my mom when i learned at it was hell.

    michael

  • One of my first driving experiences was running into the beauty parlor next door to my girlfriend's house!-- and all these ladies in curlers jumped up and panicked (it was pretty darn funny!). My girlfriend has since become my wife, she remembers this well lol

  • LoL, i was waiting to see the accident. o well good driving anyway but Dad sounds a little nerves. nice view out the window.

    Keep it up.

    Peace

  • No accident, thankfully. Thanks for commenting!
