You could build your own laptop. (at least partially) Just buy a barebook and install your own CPU, memory, HD, wireless card etc. And yes it doesn't come with a OS just some drivers. Though I'm pretty sure Animonovo meant a desktop which is quite a fail. And no I advise to always buy retail for free support, a transferable license and no upgrade restrictions. OEM is meant for system builders delivering a complete system to a client.
