as for coincidences, I see none. We know pretty much about gravity and that even a dwarf star wouldnt cause earthquakes. You can find planetary alignment any way you want. Any day of the year you can look from a different angle at the solar system and say there is a planetary alignment, to support your claims.

Besides, even if Elenin was a brown dwarf (which its not), at that distance, its gravity pull on Earth would still be smaller than the one from the moon.

do you know the equation of gravity? Indeed, a dwarf star would be millions of times more massive than the moon, but its also much farther away.

EITHER WAY, Earth´s orbit would already be slightly altered by Elenin if it was indeed a dwarf star. And that would be noticed. Other planets would also have their orbits slightly altered and that would also be noticed.

So no, Elenin is not a dwarf star, but a comet of negligible mass with a coma millions of km wide, as all comets.

not all of them are looking and few of them heard about Elenin. That is the EXACT reason Elenin is not a brown dwarf. If it was, it would be noticed and amateur astronomers all over the world would be on fire.

The proof Elenin is a simple comet is exactly the fact amateur astronomers around the world dont really care about it, and those who saw it, are not spreading the word with much enthusiasm.

there are MILLIONS of amateur astronomers around the world. The fact that NONE of them noticed a dwarf star larger than Jupiter so close to Earth already shows Elenin is NOT a dwarf star, but a simple comet.

we DO know at this point what it is. Its a small comet. It has a large coma, as every comet. Comas are fuzzy and their mass is negligible.

dwarf stars are bigger than Jupiter. If Elenin was a dwarf star, it would be easily visible by naked eye by now, and EVERY amateur astronomer in the world would be able to check it out.

@rogerpenna Brown Dwarfs in the same spectral class as the one in question, emit next to no light that would be visible to a human eye. This is due to their next to zero temperatures practically camouflaging itself with the cold empty space behind it. It is also a Near Infared Dwarf, we cannot see in the infared spectrum. We will only see this with our unaltered vision when it gets closer and reflects light from our sun. This body has satellites, comets do not have satellites.

nonsense. A brown dwarf is larger than Jupiter. At the supposed distance Elenin is, it would be MORE visible than Jupiter if it was a brown dwarf. And Jupiter is PRETTY VISIBLE to the naked eye.

A body as large as Jupiter (or larger) REFLECTS plenty of light from the sun.

As for having satellites, yes, comets and asteroids DO have satellites. Dont spew stupid nonsense if you are ignorant about astronomy.

I forget from where, I heard (Also not sure of the solidity of info) that its quite possible that the dwarf is tailing behind this "comet". No, we would not be able to see this in our sky because its a T (or Y) in its spectral also, NIR. The dwarf star has been seen all over the world, as a second sun. Tell me, where have you looked, if you have, for this dwarf?

The article was bullshit because Betelgeuse, if gone Nova, would be NO BRIGHTER than the full moon, but as small as a normal star. Think of a very bright Venus (Morning Star. The full moon is MILLIONS of times less bright than the Sun, however. Thus no, Betelgeuse WOULD NOT be a second sun.

The object he's referring to, CW Leonis, is a carbon star only visible in the infra-red; it appears and disappears depending on whether you're looking in the IR or visible spectra.
