We train and compete like Olympic or Para-Olympic athletes do. We are split into divisions based on age and ability rather than everyone in one certain category. Everyone is given the chance to strive for the gold, just as anyone else. We take competitions as seriously as athletes in other organization, no mater how severe our disability. We are just as competitive as people with out intellectual disability. We are your equal.
Nah, I am a good basketball player, a good swimmer and I'm an athlete. Not to mention involved in several other things. But I"M NOT RETARDED. I can achieve more things than I even realise.
WOW,really...I would like to put you one on one with a special olympic athlete and see who wins,honestly.....my money is on the special olympian..I went and saw with my own 2 eyes the Special Olympic World Games in 2007 Shanghai,China...It's WAYY more than how you just tried explaining it...THEY ARE AMAZING ATHLETES!!
So do the athletes in the Special Olympics compete and win, or is everyone considered a winner just because they're there?
Because if that's the case, this really isn't a competition.
