  • Did the last example require a VLOOKUP at all? Could we not just reference the cells e.g. on the %Increase sheet in cell D3 type "=Assumptions!B3" (the cell B3 in Assumptions sheet. Then copy to all other cells. That would take about 10 seconds at most.

I like the Columns function, thanks

  • hello Mike!

I saw couple of urs excel youtube video....I’ve advance knowledge of excel...can u recommend me any book/CD/online for excel (for expert knowledge like u) for advance function/form/query /VB/ advance macro/ relationship

    thanks

  • I do not have an advanced book, however, if you watch this Highline Series (videos 1 - 53), you will see most of what I know presneted in logical order. The advantage of the Highline Excel series is that the ideas are presnted in a logical and cumulative order. One GREAT Advanced Excel book is: "Excel Hacks".

  • Thanks again for the kind video. Moreover, I have a query.

While I am editing a formula, and I use a cell reference, how can I make out the format of that cell( which I am using as a part of the cell being formulated)?

  • The formula usually takes the formatting from the cell reference cell. If it does not I usually use the Format Painter button.

  • Mike you have given excellent examples on how to increase a value by 10%, what formulas can i use if i wanted to decrease the values by 10%?

    Thanks

  • Bad YouTube is doing it again. I have prepared a good answer, but it won't let me post it with the characters that it contains...

    I'll try again...

  • If 10% up, then (1+.1)

    If 10% down, then (1-.1)

  • I briefly mention this at the 1:20 to 1:30 minute mark.
