Interesting how they go from the original 3/4 time into an uptempo 4/4 whilst Bill's phrasing becomes more rhythmic.
Do you think Bill liked Elvis' interpretation of his song or was it done more to please audiences who may have been (more) familiar with Elvis' version?
The South should have won! A hard working, proud, and intensely fierce/fearless people who hate thieves, child molesters, and every other scum of the earth that the Northern jack-offs won't let us kill! I spent 33 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, and it's always the Southerners at a large disparagement ratio that fill the ranks of the most elite units. Bill Monroe typifies good Southern charm and charisma.
@ForceRecon75 Lately it has been comin out, that Lee and Davis were both traitors, and did not have the interests of Dixie foremost in their hearts. Lee was involved in the murder of Jackson, and deliberate loss of the war. Benjamin was smilin and happy on inauguration day, when everybody else in Richmond was depressed. Check search term "vatican assassins".
I downloaded it from BBC in UK - they showed it again last week as part of "Johnny Cash Night" I do not have a dvd copy - it was on the Johnny Cash Show between 69 and 72 I think
Tell the good old "Dixie Gentleman" everyone in UK apreciates his unique style of picking - a real master!
Thanks- all I know is that it was between 1969 and 1972 - on Johnny's TV show. There is a highlights DVD with it on, I'm surprised it wasn't on youtube already, this was on BBC2 in UK last night, sorry it is slightly out of sync. Keep on Pickin'!
Let's see...there's Kenny Baker on fiddle, Bill's son James playing guitar, Joe Stuart on upright bass, and I'm not sure but I see Rual Yarbrough on banjo (also based on the banjo). This would date the footage to the year 1970, and precisely between September and December of that year. Oh, and BTW, great great quality!
I fthis is "Live" on the Johnny Cash Show" why are his mouth movements out of sequence with the actual words

I can probably get the exact date of this broadcast from my cousin, Rual Yarbrough. Can I get a copy of the video to show him?
