  • i ALMOST got to see him at leeds fest

  • I'm renting this movie now, because of Tim Minchin...

  • "And an excellent example, of why they developed myxomatosis".

    Lol.

  • This is the only reason I watched Donnie Darko

  • @topherclaus Same. I'm just about to now. My friends wanted me to watch it for 4 years now. Me finding Tim Minchin and this video has made me want to watch it immediately :3

  • Watching donnie darko now. Im watching this video too so I no what to expect but im still a bit freaked out by this film :)

  • This has to be one of the best tim minchin songs I've listened to it like 50 times in the last week

  • "parallel universe?" it was a TANGENT universe...geeze

  • A bit spooky that his shadow remains when Minchen disappears?

  • @SkullboyVonGhastly its not a shadow, its a reflection...

  • much love for this so good!

  • what is the song in the background called? (the original classical piece)

  • @joshuat31524 it's the piano from mad world used in the film

  • @joshuat31524 mad world, dont think its from classical music though

  • @linenlines Thanks!

  • When was this movie released ?

  • @pinkypeanutpie 2001....I may be wrong.

  • @pinkypeanutpie 2001

  • @pinkypeanutpie 2001.

  • It took me way too long to figure out that the piano riff is from the intro to Mad World.

  • why they developed myxomatosis. that is too great

  • @SolaarRising :O HE IS NO WAY DIRE!!!!!!!!!!! try writing it in the guardian, he might write a song about you!! :D

  • Tim Minchin and Donnie Darko? My night just got awesome.

  • i just noticed that when he fades out around 1:09 talking about Donnies death you can still see his reflection singing.

  • hahahahahahahaha!

  • Awesome beat @ 0.58

  • and an excellent example of why they developed.... what?

  • @khusae myxomatosis... rabbit virus

  • brilliant, the piano part is a sped up version of mad world, did anyone else notice that?

  • @23dipster1 Everyone

  • Fantastic film, but the directors cut was awful. I mean, the best bit of the film was all of the different perceptions of wtf has just happened, and the directors cut just takes that all and smashes it into tiny little pieces.

  • can someone tell me what this is from??

  • Damn it now I need to watch the film again >.<

  • is it weird that i just keep looping this song?

  • @KonsharPaHuvet Nope

  • @KonsharPaHuvet It's probably weirder that I keep looping the movie. I've seen it 29 times now

  • @KonsharPaHuvet Thats a paradox.

  • Love how he used the mad world tune :D

  • "...and they ride on their bikes through the night" and THATS when things get weird????

  • @BigBadNightWolf I was like "really? just here they get weird". anyhow, the song pretty much describes the movie!

  • @AORNOfficial I was like "really? just here they get weird"

ya, the whole film is a trip

  • I watched Donnie Darko only because Tim made a song about it. It was 3am, and I was alone. Goodbye sleep.

  • I must say that I watched Donnie Darko and S Darko after seeing this. He should really "review" more movies this way.

  • @AORNOfficial How was S Darko? I told myself I wouldn't watch it because it might ruin the first one. Does it?

  • @mntwins39 S Darko was ok, but Donnie Darko was way cooler. If you watch them in order you'll enjoy them.

  • @AORNOfficial Okay sweet. I have watched Donnie Darko a bunch of times so it sounds like I'll be fine. Thanks!

  • @mntwins39

S.Darko was the worst film I've ever seen

  • @EshnehGaming Thanks. Haven't watched it yet. You saved me.

  • @mntwins39 Bro, don't listen to him, S.Darko is awesome!

  • @MeetTheCryptid I agree. Not as good as Donnie Darko, but still pretty good

  • @EshnehGaming Well, you, sir, have no taste whatsoever.

  • @Kshela

If you think S.Darko was anything less than a shite cash in with a retarded story then you are an idiot.

  • @EshnehGaming anything more*

  • @xXPinkGoddessXx

    I stand corrected :)

  • The chords of the piano part sound familiar. I just can't put my finger on which song used a similar chord progression - does anyone remember which song it was? Something by eiffel 65 or some other europop group maybe?

  • @LMF5000 It's just occured to me that it might be chorous of "mad world" by REM (when they say the words "mad world")?

  • @LMF5000 It's totally Mad World... Gary Jules

  • @TurnDownTheAC Yeah, it is. Thank you very very much!

  • Comment removed

  • @TurnDownTheAC Mad World is by Tears For Fears. The one by Gary is a cover

  • @Kemespa I didn't know that! thank's for the info :)

  • damn if only this was around when I had to write a massive bloody essay all about the film!

  • fuck that sounded easy

  • Comment removed

  • I finally understand this film!

  • seen donnie darko 16 times and read the script 11 times

  • @CaptainAndyThePirate you shouldnt be proud of that

  • @mousepad49 yer but for some strange reason i am! :D

  • @CaptainAndyThePirate hahaha fair enough man

  • @CaptainAndyThePirate Pfff.. beginner

  • @CaptainAndyThePirate wow you're so hardcore

  • It's very strange listening to this, as I did, without knowing about the film

  • Has anyone else noticed that the riff played in the intro and throughout the song is very similar to the riff for mad world (the ending song of Donnie Darko) played on a higher key?

  • @rosalieangelface221 Thats so clever thought it sounded familt thanks for the info xD

  • @rosalieangelface221 It's the same riff faster.

  • Thumbs up if you saw the film because of this video.

  • @jazarkin Yeah, I just finished watching the film last night, lol. Didn't know the film even existed till I saw this song by Tim Minchin.

  • @jazarkin i so did about year ago and i just watched it again and it made me want to watch this

  • At the point where he's talking bout donnie killing the rabbit, hes playing the mad world piano theme haha.. ripp offf... still love it though

  • @MusicalHoneyBe At the end of the movie they play Mad World, that's why he's playing it :p

  • @laurenmariedestroyer Ooohhh forgot aqbout that (ive seen the movie haha) i get it noww....

  • @MusicalHoneyBe ...He plays it because It's the memorable song of Donnie darko.

  • Is it just me or is the way aussies say donnie darko just so epic!?

  • Tim Minchin and Donnie Darko, an epic duo of epicness.

  • Hahahahaha, I loved this movie. This explains it all so much better.

  • @powerpc127 yeah I got that song on my iPod, I love tears for fears I just could remember where I'd heard it before

  • great song, but i heard this before i saw the movie.... Kinda ruined the movie, especially the end :(

  • What's that tune he's playing called?

  • @markey4000 It's called Mad World. The original version is by Tears for Fears, but this version is a cover by Gary Jules (covered by Tim Minchin... so meta).

  • @0baalberith0 Once you move past the stage in life where you think acting like an adult makes you one, it becomes permissible to act like a kid again.

  • @SoapM9 SAME HERE I WATCHED IT AND ITS FUCKING SCARY

  • @DavySigfusson ... Geeee, no shit?

  • So that's what was going on.

  • Photoshop fail when Tim disappears. You can still see his reflection on the piano.

  • @ripper3707 I think that they did it on purpose, but i can be wrong =P

Maybe they want to resemble an illusion in which Donnie dies, but without that choice he would still be alive,..

    or something.

  • @skipstein Correct, would you like a cookie for explaining that to Ripper? :D

  • @MusicalManslaughter Wow, I'm honored to have it correct! =D

And who am i to resist a cookie? offcourse i want a cookie! =D

  • @MusicalManslaughter And, I'm at a friend now, so i forgot to log in on my own account :$

  • @ripper3707 i swear photoshop edits photos not videos

  • I now understand that movie....

  • i just watched this movie. mind = blown.

  • i looked up a pic of the actual rabbit in the film and immediately shit my self.

  • Cool, call me thick but I never really understood what was happening at the end before Mr Minchin explained it Lol

  • I love this song so much

  • What a hero!!

  • Is anyone frustrated he the song ruined the enitre film without any warning?

  • @abyssus99 I understand what you're saying, but the movie is 10 years old.

  • @iwolf6645

Yeah, true. I'm only 17 mind, so I just got round to watching all the older films I missed. And being I love Tim, I watched this first.

    Still loved Donnie Darko though!

  • @abyssus99 no cos i saw it months ago

  • Fetch Me My Shotgun I'm Going To Kill The 11 People That Disliked This.

  • @zendolian FUCK OFF!!!!!!!!!!! THAT IS NOT FUNNY. FFS, YOU ARE RUINING YOUTUBE.

  • I doubt most people here in America where I live have any clue what myxomatosis is, but I know in Britain there's still loads of rabbits suffering from it.

  • @ethanB612 Yeah, I'm from Florida, and I had no idea what it was until I looked it up. But I'm glad it's not common here, it sounds awful. :/

  • I love that at 1:11 you can see his reflection but he's not there :P

  • this made me watch the movie yesterday, and I fucking love it! how did I not know about this movie? a great big mind-fuck of a movie!

  • @FreakyFatBastard If you liked Donnie Darko you might enjoy The Fountain. It's a movie in the same spirit, somewhat. A movie turned into beautiful semi surreal art. Donnie Darko and The Fountain are two of my favorite films.

  • I got chills just hearing him talk about the movie. Honestly, that's one of my favortie movies of all time.

  • HAHAHA! Myxomatosis!

That's a disease that can kill rabbits b.t.w.

  • @DavySigfusson I died of laughter when I heard that line. Such a goddamn clever musician

  • @drummeruptheirons

Yeah, I know :D ... and his vocabulary is so vast!

  • @DavySigfusson

Thank god you mentioned it, it would have rattled me all day otherwise! Thank you.

  • @uberarticuno

    No Problem :D

  • @DavySigfusson No Shit, Sherlock.

  • @EbonyFaery

It's Not common knowledge Watson, not all people are english speakers or have any interest in Rabbits.

  • @DavySigfusson Can kill rabbits? >.> It was developed specifically to kill them, xD

  • @000ashleemee000 Developed? It was introduced to Australia for that reason, but the disease was not man-made.

  • @arienh4 Sorry, I hate to argue, but Tim clearly says "Of why they developed myxomatosis" in the video.

  • @000ashleemee000 Didn't realise Tim Minchin was a reputable source for that kind of thing. It was a song lyric. (Hint: Tim was wrong) Go read up on myxomatosis before you correct me.

  • @arienh4 I didn't realise that we were trying to attack one another with words, there are ways to correct one another in a polite, reasonable, friendly way. And some people don't understand that. And Tim, in fact, IS an intelligent person. I wouldn't doubt his knowledge about something, especially when he's singing about it.

    Just enjoy the song?

  • @000ashleemee000 I'm not saying Tim Minchin isn't intelligent. I like him, and his songs, a lot. I just pointed out that in this, isolated case, he was wrong. It happens to the best of us. People are allowed to make mistakes, you know. I wasn't intending to be hostile, I just don't like to be corrected when I'm right. I don't mind it when I'm wrong, but if I'm right, and you correct me, it just means you haven't done your research.

  • @arienh4 I wasn't aware that I had to do any research for writing a comment. I'm sorry that I was wrong, but I don't often google animal diseases.

  • @000ashleemee000 I already knew what myxomatosis was, which is why I could say it wasn't developed. You then corrected me, which means you think you know what it is and what its history was. If you're going to call someone out on something, you'll have to do research, or you'll look like a jerk.

  • @DavySigfusson dumb as fuck if you didnt know that

  • @DavySigfusson no shit lol

  • This makes me want to watch this Donnie Darko

  • @SoapM9 WHY HAVEN'T YOU ALREADY?

  • @SoapM9 it's pretty good :)

  • @SoapM9 this makes me want to watch Donny Darko *again*

  • Pretty good stab given 1 minute, but he doesnt use telekenesis to rip the propellor off the plane, it rips off when it enters into the wormhole, which it then travels 28 days back into the past. But Tim Minchin is brilliant, such a talented little critter. :D

  • woow that actually really helped me to understand the film!

  • Never seen the film before, but the best way to ruin it for someone:P

  • i love this sont too much *-*

  • the film matches tim so well... as he says its an experimentation of space and time and psychosis. If you listen to more of Tim it is clear that he is not closed minded. I think that he accepts everything as a possibility but if its not proved and incredibly farfetched... why devote your life to it??? Even scientists have proved that time travel could be possible, but with about a thousand ifs. The film is a kind of What if? scenario. A fantastic film and a great explanation

  • Great thing to watch after watching Donnie Darko

  • 10 people are stuck in a neverending loop because they didn't listen to the rabbit.

  • wow i get the movie now...

  • I CANT STOP WATCHING THIS!

  • @LolTacular01 i knoww righttt

  • WTF?

  • @LolTacular01 what? if you dont get it, its a 1 minute summary of the film donnie darko

  • Wow i never got that movie till now lmao! and he made it rhyme and made it funny! Very Nice

  • i had to study Donne Darko in english. This would of got me an A !

  • In 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds, the world will end.

  • @TheGiantBunnyRabbit For you maybe.

  • Before, when i hadnt seen the movie I watched this. Then it went "Burns down Patrick Swayze's house" and I just stopped it suddenly

  • Now he needs to do a song for Lost Highway.

  • @WickedLiquid THAT would be fucking amazing. He might even make it make sense!

  • I saw Donnie Darko on a DVD given away free with a paper I didn't pay for. It was worth every penny,

  • loooove itttt

  • I know understand the film! Gratz to Tim Minchin xD

  • ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET SHEET MUSIC?
