  • Fantastic video. Best info on the web for RAS. Thank you. I have recently purchased a used radial arm saw in near new condition. Manufactured 25 to 30 years ago. Since it was made extremely well, used very little, and well cared for, it is a gem of a saw. This video helped me tremendously to understand how these saws are aligned and set up. The RAS is a bit before my time, yet I have found that I appreciate using it in my workshop much more than my sliding compound miter saw. Very useful tool.

  • I just found one of these in the tool closet at work, hidden for years under some tarps. No more sloppy circular-saw rip cuts for us!

  • I've just started rehabbing my grandfathers RAS and this was exactly what I was hoping to find but doubt existed on YouTube. Thanks for taking the time!

  • After years of sometimes struggling with 1 or 2 adjustments, you make it look so simple! Thanks for sharing!!

  • Is this James Gandolfini's long lost brother?

  • Great video-thanks for posting.

  • The best video information I have ever seen on the setup of a radial arm saw. I like the tip about using jigs to avoid moving the setup and the jigs were shown well. Thanks for posting this video.

  • Very well done, and a big help. Especially appreciated the careful camera angles that showed every part being discussed. No wasted words made this quick and information-dense without too much jargon. Keep up the good work!

  • I need to buy a plaid shirt first, then the saw.

  • Very good information and camera actions.

  • Great Video

  • What a great video!!! What model ras is that?

  • exceptional !!! tells you everything and with such clairity you are a good teacher .anyways i have an old green dewalt ras that needs adjusted it was my grandfathers and i want to make use of it but i can't for the life of me get the blade to cut in a straight line it wiggles and just is a scary saw to tame!! i'm going to post a vid of it and hopefully you can help me fix it

  • Very good information. This vidio is one of the best I have sen on woodworking machinery. Very professional. Thank's for posting.

  • I wonder does anyone have any information for tightening the yoke on a Craftsman RAS? The height post does not have a collar like a lot of RAS's do, me saw has about 1/8 of n inch of play in the miter assembly which racks my brains and my work ever time I try to do precision cuts

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. I inherited an old Dewalt and found that it would burn the blade and make poor cuts. Thinking it was a bad blade, I replaced it. It again did the same and I figured it was out of alignment. I really appreciate that you took the time to post this video. I now will be able to get this power tool working like it should. Namaste!

  • Thanks for the helpfull info. I have two 1968 Craftsman ras that are tuned well following the owners manual. Just wondering, but didnt this fellow in the video many years ago have a film on cutting dovetail joints on the table saw? Seems I rented one of his like that at the library (sp)? once, but I may be mistaken

I also like to leave them in the 90* position it saves on replacing so many fences and there are other ways like you said to cut miters and such.

    Thanks

  • very good video!

  • Thanks very much for the video .

    I'm about to get a ELU ( dewalt ) machine soon .

Your lesson is very useful to me to get my future machine in shape .

  • Well done! I notice you're using a Forrest Woodworker-1 Triple Chip blade. A 4" Dampener/stiffener should be added also. This is a fine primer for radial arm saw owners and should give them an introduction on fine tuning your machine.

My late Father "Mr.Sawdust" would have enjoyed this video...Keep up the good work and work safe!

  • dude, thanks so much for posting this vid.

  • Cool! I'm going to be restoring a couple of beautiful old Dewalts. Some nice helpful info here.
