hey could you help me im curious, i have a N/A sohc 1.8l golf mk3 and i hate the engine i badly want a 2.0l gti engine. if i wanted to swap my 1.8 for a 2.0 would it be direct fit? would it bolt right into the old engine mounts and old transmission? and would i need a new feul system and other things like that? am i better off just buying a 2.0l golf? i would love to keep my stock engine and tune it but i have been told putting money into my 1.8 is a complete waste cause its SOHC

@94VDUBgolf if your talking about the 2.0 16V DOHC, Its illegal to put old motors in to newer cars...but if u really want something useful...get a VR6 from the same yr car like a jetta or gti VR6 and its a direct swap...take all parts needed from the donor car and make sure to lable the wireharness from the fuse block...its very easy. but if you have trouble finding one, get one with the same set up as your car...obd1 or obd2...research. vwvortex.com or google it...many people do how to's

LoL omg, the Engine has the Code PG or 1H ( rallye engine ) but every1 calls it G60 so why r u saying that shit like G60 is the supercharger? i Think the most of here who is watching this vid knows what a G60 is mate ;)

Love golfs, I have a 86 mk2 gti (check out my vids n comment) golfs are fun inexpensive and quick. the only thing with the g60 or g40 is that the turbocharger is always on, it dosnt start at a certain rpm, so you have to be pretty gentle with it, can step on the gas when its cold, (its also not good with normal engine, but its doable) My meccanic said g60 have WAY more problem and r more expensive to fix then a regular golf or gti, and for 50-60 hp more I rather have less problems and sav money

But u cant put turbo on 1.8 gti engine, cuz after around 10000km sth will brake down in the engine. G-60 has a turbocharger so u can easely put turbos on it without changing the "guts" of the engine!!!

g60 is a supercharger... the engine that the g60 comes stock on is not called g60 it has an engine code that starts with a P and btw it is a 1.8litre. fast forward about 8 years from when this dub was built then you might be closer to the truth with your statement of "all 1.8 liter gti's have a turbo. " but das on a 20v mk4.
