My mother used to sing this in the Sr. Choir at our church and she really would sing it. Them old sisters would just be shouting all around the church.
@cdbandy The first actual RECORDING of this was done back in the 1940s, it was written by Thomas A. Dorsey, performed by Clara Ward, Bessie Griffin just to name a few.
good ole baptist bench jumping in progress @4:44 aint know harm!! only those of us who are baptist and was baptist anytime before 1985 can really understand, appreciate, and enjoy this clip! yes suh!! alright nah! sho nuf!
This is classic gospel at it's best.....more! More! More! I love it. The organ and vocals are hot. Not too much vocal acrobatics, just singing from the depths of your soul.
Who is this Lady? Please put some more of her singing on this.i really felt the presence of the lord in my house. Tell me where i can get her Cd or where i can contact her for some programs.praise God for people like this that is so annointed.Hallelujah!!!!
WoW! I don't believe this! This is my mentor as far as singing goes. She has taught me so much and is responsible for helping to cultivate my gift of singing. I used to sing in a choir she started and I also sang with her son in a Quartet group (The Valley Messengers). You go, Jessie Pearl Jackson!
My late grandmother would walk this song off back at Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Satin, Texas. Keep that old school alive.. that's where it all originated from. We have to know where we have been to know where we are to get to where we are going.
I can smell my granma's chalamar cologne. I can taste butterschotch in my mouth now. I am 36 and big mama's with the Lord but this was when I was a child burying my face in my big mama's thick part of her shoulder until she would shout and wake me up and then I would get excited and clap until she finished. That was church.
Oh yes Lord ....I just had to sing this this morning
