I leave for Basic january 17, 2012 and my MOS is 68X. can't seem to find anyone who can give me an idea on how the training is but im very excited to have this MOS. thank God i scored high enough for this even though it wasnt my first choice. Can't wait until I get to see Fort Sam Houston in person!
@daniellevandiver awesome :) i leave for ft sill in feb, im a 68S and i feel ya i cant find anyone else with my MOS but i live near ft. sam they have new barracks being built and have a relatively new gym
QUESTION: So i know this is where you go to train for a year as a 68w right? where do you go for basic? same place? and then when your done training here where do you go next?
@andrademeza My husband just finished his BCT for 68w. He was at Fort Jackson, SC for that. So it think it just depends . He's in AIT at Ft. Sam right now, after that I believe he gets his orders to where ever they need him. His training isn't a year either, its 16 weeks.(He just graduated June 30th 2011. He'll be done end of October with AIT.) I'd talk to your local recruiter for more accurate info though....
@andrademeza Well I'm going in as a 68w also. I have basic in Fort Jackson, SC also, and 18 weeks 4 days in Fort Sam Houston, TX. After that you can get based generally anywhere that needs medics or what your job is. But that depends on whats open the time you get done with AIT.
im going into the army nurse corps, how long do all the nurses stay here?? im not too excited about being there a year, to be honest. Its too hot for me...is it a good sized post? I'm from ft.bragg so we have a lot on our post i think.

Ft Sam was a nice base. Air Force does all medical training there so I was there for a few months. Enjoyed it and the area.
