Wow. Good thing you found it. lol! After a while of doing that those wires would probably have their insulation gone and the grounding against the unit cabinet.
@teachinghvac Yup, and speaking of that, ya gotta love it when the customer get's the cheapest bid for a job they can possibly get, and it turns into something like this, and they don't know that if they would spend the extra money to have a good tech do the work instead of hacks, these things wouldn't happen.

@84randomdude Yeah. That's one of the repairs the customer doesn't always see or even know about, but still needs to be done.
