If the ipod had full length games, better games available, and physical controls then I would say it is just as good if not better because of the better browsing capabilities of the ipod and faster hardware.
@Airking11 If your a serious portable gamer then PSP is better because of the full length games. If you are a casual gamer not willing to spend lots of money then go with the iPod Touch.
@Airking11 It does have harcore games but most games I see are around 30-300mb of data. PSP games have at least 400mb and usually average to 1.2 GB meaning more levels, challenges, and fun. I just saw a game on iTunes that is called Rally Master Pro 3D (US) released on 10/26/02009 and its $4.99 for 31.7 MB. PSP game "Crash Tag Team Racing" released 9/30/2009 is $14.99 with 1.39 GB of data.

If you wants ALL of this, you need to buy an iPod Touch (2nd gen) with official apple's headset (to talk in skype, msn and others). iPod Touch(iPhone too) is realy good to surf on the internet. It's perfect to listen to music.
On iPod Touch you can play good games, not so good as a PSP game, because PSP was make to play games, but you can play nice games with friends(that have ipodtouch/iphone) via Bluetooth, WLan(same local network), and some games via internet.I give u MY opinion,good luck now

No, Sony didn't improve the PSP's WiFi.
PSP 1000, 2000 and 3000 have the same WiFi (802.11b, iPod Touch haves 802.11g, it's faster) and the same Web Browser.
