Rigor mortis would prevent a zombie from moving quickly, if the dead could return in reality, where fact trumps cinematic action. Slow, stiff zombies are more logical, obviously, but fast moving zombies are more exciting. Well, the atmosphere of the movie determines which is more exciting, but for this movie, it's fast zombies. Regardless, both are great, which is why the "Dawn of the Dead" movies are my two favorite zombie movies.

If a "zombie apocalypse" happened, it would be fast moving zombies, as it wouldn't be the dead returning to life, it would be regular humans whose brains would have been affected by some infectious disease. Take movies like 28 Days Later, Rec and The Crazies for example. At least, if I remember correctly, they were about a virus, not the living dead.

It's an apocalypse, plague style movie, inspired by "The Crazies" (some say they ripped off "The Crazies"), it's not a zombie movie. Well, at least not how we know zombie movies nowadays. Back in the day, zombie movies were completely different. Regardless, movies like 28 Days Later are not zombie movies; hence the "rage virus."

If you want to rip off the Crazies (and I mean 1978, though 2009 was pretty good) you need three things: There can never be a cure (which there was in the original Crazies), the virus cannot be isolated in one spot (28 Days Later), and the victims need to have an insatiable craving for meat (name a zombie movie). Again, 28 may be the most original of them all, and the Crazies is just poison in the water.

Absolutely amazing movie! The baby thing was original, scary and even gross. Still, this movie is an excellent choice for any zombie fan, and by far one of my favorite zombie movies (my number 1 being 28 Days Later).

@Royboy970 I don't think they would be that slow, although it depends if it's a zombie as in a dead person that lives again or the kind where it's a virus spreading through biting. If it is a virus, they'd probably run after you until their leg muscles break or something because they would most probably not notice fetigue. If they're living dead though, their muscles would be old and worn and they'd be slow. Let's hope for the second option...

1st zombie movie i've seen and the perfect one to start with if youve nver seen one. it starts with the normal life of a woman, then it hits you high hard and fast with these things that were human once but not anymore. It goes over the zombie rules well and shows all these chaicters just trying to surive. Awsome movie, got me hooked to zombies. Plan 9 from outerspace on the other hand, probly wont get any one hooked.

Mall off the dead? Dead plauge? Something at least. Still, no matter the titles, i still see them as two different movies that are good in their own way, only thing that connects them are the titles and the fact that a large part of the story takes place in a mall... and the zombies of course
