  • lol im in the st pats rowing club

  • I'm speechless

  • This is also why it's always easier to coach young kids and why young kids improve technically so quickly. Rowing novices should be told basic rules such as don't let go of your blade when you're in the boat or have control of it at all times. When you tell adults or younger "kids" that, the response is usually "Why are you speaking to me like a child? I'm an adult and I'll do whatever I like". Then you get this...

  • The 2-man needs to learn how to prepare his blade before attempting the catch. It's just too common to see that as a habit: essentially shoot up to the front of the slide ("because I want a quick catch and that's what it means right?"). "Oh now I'm at the front of the slide, what do I do again? Oh yeah, I need to square, take the catch and apply the pressure on my legs. Oh well, I might as well do it all at the same time now I'm at front stops anyway".

  • The boat was attacked by a wild Steve Irwin.

  • ur boat is rigged backwerdz

  • @juiceman123321 just because stroke is a bowside rower doesnt mean its backwards it just means its rigged from bowside. And try not to write like a twelve yaer old next time.

  • I would end up hitting my coach if he sounded like that..

  • both of stroke sides oars came out? how did they manage that?

  • @Fongfongmc I'm pretty sure they are actually bow side oars buddy.

  • @strokeseat1 i am embarassed

  • @strokeseat1 not sure you know what your talking about

  • im never rowing in a four.

  • lmfao. sad sad sad. i dont think i've ever laughed so hard in my whole life.

  • wow, way to lock in the blade, dude...

funny shit. no shame, though, happened to me once.

    :)

  • ahahaha world class.

  • why did he stop rowing

  • Yeah when I flipped I was in a quad and we were sitting at the catch.. It's scary! My feet didn't come out and 3 seat had to swim under and get them out.

  • Fake and gay

  • hahahaha i am a SPC rower and i just had my rowing camp yesterday and i met teddy the guy in stroke seat and he told me to look up this vid.

  • @strokeseat1 i don't know about you, but that's what heel straps are for...

  • who didn't check the top nuts?

  • @strokeseat1 even now, with water in wendouree.... its death trying to row through the weeds on it.

  • i would hate to be the cox here bc u hav no idea whats going on behind u and then its "oh shit im in the water"

  • i thought my crew fliping a quad took skill but fliping a coxed four takes serious skill

  • It is stroke that has caused the problem

  • @strokeseat1 then your probably shouldn't have a rowing club there :L why not have an artificial lake :L

  • ummm yea these guys suck ass, my Freshman 8 can row better then these guys

  • Comment removed

  • @tangyturtletwentytwo can u please make more sense of that. cause dude ive made it to every single final in my 8man boat. im a junior now and plan to go 10-10 again in the next 2 years

  • @tangyturtletwentytwo plus what the hell are u talking about my bashing at stotes in the final. we placed 4th. not a bashing we were only 7 sec off first. u need to get your facts straight

  • Comment removed

  • @absegamifrosh8 but what year are u talking about? thats what i mean.

  • If the 4 just let go they could have continued =/

  • First of all thats really rude, and second of all you have no right to comment on their rowing when you've probably only done it for a little while.

  • woulda been quite hard for the coxen to get out

  • ahaha yeah :D

    i hart rowing!

  • Damn, I've had that happen to me in a four too. It was the end of May, but the water was still cold were I live. So when we fell in it was like WTF is going on? When you fall in, you completely rely on instinct.

  • Ohh i see

Stroke mans our pops out off the gate, 2 man lets go off the oar and doesn't balance it and then the boat flips..

  • Aye, it's your 2 man who needs a slap there. Should have been his priority to whack his inside arm under the handle!

Not that I've been in a similar situation of course... :S

  • So this is what I think happened:

Stroke seat's oar popped off the oar lock. That's why they all weighed enough. You see it at 0:56.

The missing oar offset the balance and tipped the boat.

  • Sucks for the cox (he's in the front), while underwater he needs to crawl out. lol.

  • seriously? collegiate rowing shouldn't suck that bad.

ever tried getting your blades off the water?

  • I think stroke pulled his oar out of the gate. It always pays to keep it well screwed up!

  • Bow and 3 blow chunks, WTF is this?!! Seriously how do you fuck up THAT bad? Stroke is ok but nothing special!

  • stroke and 2 are the ones to blame, though.

  • whats up with the bow man?

make them run 12 miles for not locking the oarlock down all the way too (=

  • This video made me laugh so muchhhh

  • Hhahaha i can't believe,how they can fip a boat like that??

  • i want 20 high strokes...ready...GOOOOO!!!!

  • what the hell is the guy at bow doing? he looks awful!

  • i will quote the caoch

"see that piece of grass? that piece of grass would pull harder than you!"

"your rowing like a street hooker!"

    "your like a leprechaun!"

  • exactly why i HATE the 4+

biggest regatta of the season my coach was like ok u guys are racing in the 4 which we had practiced once and it was terrible.

The race went horrible. We were racing girls who had be rowing for a year longer then we had. There was really bad wake and it was starting to white cap and there was no balence. we came dead last, and the guy in the coach boat trailing behind us was laughing. yea not such a fun race.

    Sculling is much better.

  • i never flipped in a boat but, how do you get out exactly? do your feet come free?

  • Perhaps some real coaching would help.

  • yeah those are the stern oars...not bow...

  • Bowside oars. stroke seat

  • @lovey1984 its bow rigged

  • Did they flip because the stroke let his oar go to the stern of the boat?

  • yeah, the stroke's oar came out of the gate.

  • shit happens ro shit rowers

  • Hahahaha.

  • HAHA saint pats suck COLL 4 LIFE

  • HAHA college hasnt won a boys race at HOL for 4 years!

  • and they say im a hibercrit

  • hahahah funny how the barwon has blue-green algae in it too hahaha. bit unlucky. is there another way to flip a 4 mid-row?!?!?

  • hahaha funny how it wasnt the barwon

  • close the oarlock next time ;)

and train more, it looks like crap :P

  • Same thing happened in my single this morning, got 2-3K up river before my rigger finally decided to give in an pop open, oar pops out, boat goes over... It was a cold day aswell, not happy with that, esepcially seeing as I'd just done a 2K ergo and then my coach decided we should go for a scull, got wet and cold, then kept going with the row... Got to love rowing

  • aha

    it was 2 mans fault

  • hey i don't get it. how is it 2 seats fault? it looks like the strokes fault to me for letting his oar go so far forward which would make the boat unsteady wouldn't it?

  • 2 seat leans over to see what happens. He also takes his hand off the oar, everyone does this but we paid the price for doing it. In fact i should not have held onto the oar at all, i was told that because i was holding onto it i was dragging the boat over, however, i am not taking full blame, i am not blaming anyone either, it was a very unfortunate event.

  • haha so funny... useless bow pair...

  • Cool St Pats you deadshits that wouldn't happen at BHS

  • yeah its a funny thing that winning doesnt happen at BHS either

  • pretty sure we're whipping your butts right now

  • hahaha pretty sure you didnt win any boys races at all on boat race!

  • how do u flip a 4, wtf

  • Thats a big woops...

  • ive never been in one but i wanna be in a boat that flips. btw St. Catharines rowing club rules

  • yea yusef, st. catharines is the best,

head if the fish next week :)

  • It's Sort of Stupid to not get your oar out of a crab after you've caught one....... But Oh Well Quite Funny!

  • it wasn't a crab... my gate came undone and my oar popped out.

  • that sux man...

  • My condolences, although on the bright side, you produced some top quality viewing for fellow oarsmen

  • lol u stuffed everything up ted... but it was worth it =P

  • one of my other friends on the rowing team thought it would be funny if he loosened my oar-locks, un-screwed my shoes from the boat, & took some of the wheels off of my seat when I went back up to the boat house & left him to look after my boat for a couple minutes.

    x.x

I didn't even have my butt in the seat, and the boat pretty much disassembled itself. Of course, I took a nice swim.

    As Bruce would say;

    b, e, a, eautiful

  • I have to admit, somebody undone the gate on my single once, I was square blading during my warm up and managed about 300 meters until I went over... BASTARD!

quick row back, empty water, go again!

  • hahahahaha. slow mo was the best

i was rowing once, and the top bolt just popped off, and i didnt' notice. for about 30 minutes screws kepts falling off and eventaully my rigor just snapped off into the water

  • wow, ive caught a crab while stroking a four, but i had a better outcome

  • its wasnt a crab idiot, the rigger came undone and when he was trying to get it, the boat flipped

  • you should always make sure that your riggers are on the boat properly then

  • the riggers word in bad condition as strokeseat said so it wasnt really their fault, the colalr on my oar once was perfectly on but jsut snapeed do to wear and tear

  • lolz

  • was that a starbor stroke?, and did ur rigger break? couse thats funny

  • it is bow rigged. and in fact the gate on the rigger had been worn down, it had previously opened but we didnt think that, we almost did it again the next day.

  • oh that sucks, yea i lost the gate on my rigger a couple of days ago whe the top bolt came off(vespoly from early 90's) . my stroke pair had to row 1.5 miles back to the dock. they were pissed

  • haha, during a 20 hard push! Oi, go to CCGS 10 As for some sweet year 10 rowing.

  • i have done 10k whith 2- in 30:10...

  • right...and by doing so you'd break the world record (6,14 I think) not only once but five times?

  • i blame this all on the coaching techniques of Peter Blanchfield - had he fed them enough schnitzels, they would have had the stamina and mental alertness to keep the boat afloat.

  • lol, thats well funny. how hard is it to flip a four!!!! :)

  • You've obviously never rowed.

I dare you do a 2k. If your chubby ass doesn't die from an anurism then you'll at least have learned some respect ;)

  • dude.

i know one of the guys in the crew. and twas a joke. im definetly not cubby either. i worked my ass of last year coming 2nd and 1st twice at kayaking nationals. we do 2500 and 5000. i have respect my dad rowed in school and as i said i know one of the guys. so you try kayaking in a heaps tippier boat and we will see how YOUR chubby ass does ok hun? sweet. so stop accusing people and being an idiot.

  • 2k 6:12

    5k 17:48

Ass not Chubby. You hurted my feelings.

I don't know much about kayaking apart from a few leisurely spins so I'm not going to say something like "kayaking is easy" or even something as inflammatory or pig ignorant as "kayaking is for wimps". That'd just be stupid based on my limited experience of kayaking. Who on earth would be as narrow minded and just plain stupid to do that?

Congratulations on your medals I hope you very warm and safe and special.

    Anyway, must be off.Rowing.

  • yeah kiyaking is pretty hard

i mean your going so so fast, you have a heeps smaller and harder to tip boats than a single racing skull and you use all those muscles in our arms unlike in rowing where its just about ever muscle in you body

i know which one i think is harder

  • harder to tip... yeah. tried paddling a k1 before? and just our arms? please. learn about the sport BEFORE you start analysing what muscles we do and dnt use.

FFS. the first comment was just a jib at rowing. not really serious. keep calm

  • haha dont jib rowing

  • nah. not goinh to anymore.

    way to over-react guys.

  • Rowing is for gays ha! you wouldnt last 15 minutes rowing its really not that easy!!!

  • hahahah thats my cousin in the green hat. rowing is for gays

  • haha WOOH!! GO ME IN STROKE SEAT!!!
