Basically, why do you rotate but punch outwards, rather than rotate into the shot, which would put your body behind the punch, since your turning your body one way and punching out another.
@chaos777000 I do it to get an angle that is harder for the opponent to block or slip, even if it isn't the knock out punch, it allows me to push him back on his heals by putting a glove on his chin/neck/chest, and this probably hearkens back to my wrestling/san-shou style.
Thanks for your comments, they are some of the most on point and constructive I have encountered.
Also shouldn't your rear foot be slightly behind your butt, and your thigh and knee be directly under your hips, which stabilizes your base. I was told to focus less on punching off the ground, since that would make an upward shot, where as a straight punch is typically straight forward , and to turn the hips and body in unison and push INTO the ground, which uses the ground BEHIND the punch. Wouldn't pushing upwards off your foot raise your center of gravity, taking wieght off the ground?
I don't understand why you rotate and punch off your shoulder line. Technically your rotating but punching off line of the rotation, which doesn't utilize the rotation of the body behind a punch. Also instead of using your shoulder line and back to brace the punch , your punching down the line of your shoulders and back, which takes your back out of the punch, and makes you punch outwards rather than straight. Basically your punching off to your side, and not using rotation behind the punch.
@johndejac73 Well you are quite the road scholar aren't you? Your center of gravity runs from the center of your hips to your chest, along your spinal column, when you are standing upright. Most otherwise, it's just your hips.
@joeberger its in your hips when you stand up,the centre of gravity by definition refes to a specific point in space. You are referring to the axis of rotation which corresponds to your spinal column when punching .ie, the hip and shoulder twist.Try and know what youre talking about in future.
@johndejac73 imagine a rod going down directly in the middle of your body and you are spinning on that rod, and when you spin your center of gravity will be somewhere in the chest area...thats what he means...don't call someone a jackass if you don't know what you are talking about
that doesnt make any sense, are you saying that in a right cross there should be little weight on the left foot on impact and little weeight on the back leg in aleft hook, surely its the complete opposite. Also keeping knees bent 90 degrees is completely impossible and undesireable for an entire round. When your that low your stability is great but mobility too impaired.
@billysue2 He's talking about staying balanced and not completely transferring weight onto the oppoiste foot when you throw a punch. Conditioning yourself to have a nice bend in your legs is very effective in Three 2 minute rounds (amateur boxing) . If you've watched his other footwork drills he does plenty of efficient movement in a higher stance, and makes a point in this video to point out that it is more efficient.
@albertpope what are some ways I can get an opponent to drop his hands and open up his chin for a second or 2, any common or uncommon tricks you can let me in on ?
@xXFocusRecord THe easiest is to make him tired. Press him and jab more. Also, double or triple up on the lead left hand. Jab, then left hook. or left hook to body, then left hook to the head. Stay active and control range with your jab. Everything will fall into place if you do that. Without that, you are rolling the dice. The third or fourth punch in the combo is often the one that lands. So Shadow box 6-8 punch combinations. Don't allow yourself to ever practice 1-2 combos on the bag, do more
This guys fkkn sick he's like a real boxing coach how he just gets into it

@chaos777000 You are exactly right. Everything you have been told is correct. Push your foot into the ground.
