  • Not the music I'd expect to hear when seeing Shinji Ikari turning into God-with-a-capital-G, but I'm not complaining.

  • I remember watching this for the first time and thinking oh, here we go again, Shinji's gonna cry and his moms gonna save him and the whole world again. Then he was all like fuck you everyone, like he broke the goddamn 4th wall. He told the fandom to shut up and watch him save the day. Well save Rei.

  • AYANAMI WO... KAESU!!!

  • @pgcfreitas I think it's "kaese" but I'm not 100% sure ;)

  • GIVE BACK.. AYANAMI!

  • I WANT REI...! GIVE HER BACK!!

  • This is your standard "Boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy transcends boundries of humanity to get back girl" story. Nothing special.

On a serious note, this is such a great piece of music. It makes you happy, sad and... well, goddamn satisfied.

  • where can i watch original song ??? PV

  • What a powerful song.

  • oh how nice it will be to see the reactions of thousands when 3.3 reveals that rebuild is a continuation of EoE

  • @Samaia1992 i thought i was obvious when korou said it in Rebuild 1.11

  • @Kyoshiro1902 Shhhh don't make people feel stupid.

  • @Samaia1992 wait what??

  • @AnAmbientGrey what the fact that the rebuild series is a continuation off of EoE?

  • @Samaia1992 how is it a continuation of it? yeah

  • @AnAmbientGrey Look at all the information that's been givin to you. if its was a remake then why is Mari there? why does the moon have a streak of blood on it? why is the ocean red? ton's of visual and speech ques that lead to a continuation.

  • @Samaia1992 Well, that means they're taking aspects from it, not necessarily continuing it. The inclusion of Mari means they're going a different way with the story. Either way, the films have been splendid so far (2.22 actually bringing me to tears), and I can't wait for 3.33

  • @ShaDHP23 No Doubt Rebuild is Amazing. but its a chance to push the series it's self further. if it was a real Rebuild of the original story line Why all the massive changes. unless it is an actual continuation of the series of its self.

And saying "Its the way Anon wanted it to be" is no longer a valid reply haha

  • @Samaia1992 so EoE wasn't the ending to the series? if it was then why are they doing it all again?

  • @AnAmbientGrey EoE was never really the end though. its just life after Instrumentality.

  • @Samaia1992 sorry for some reason my text did not finish. but think about it all Shinji talks about is how he would be nothing with out the Eva, and how he knows nothing but Fighting for the survival of humanity. in EoE we embrace instrumentality it's your life the way you want it to be your desire your true dream.

Thats why you see the flash's of Gendo with Yui and Misato and Kaji its what they truly want.

  • @Samaia1992 You do know that there is a little piece of paper in the case with the first of the rebuild movies that says it isn't a continuation right? He says that this is a new evangelion with similarities to the original while taking it in a new direction.

  • How cool would it be if miku hatsune sung this I would do it myself I just don't have 120,000 yen to spend on a disk but I could do it on utau if I could be bothered and had the lyrics

  • the more i listen to this. the more i want to fucking cry

  • @AnAmbientGrey Look at a picture of baby dachshunds at the same time. That works for me.

  • Asteroid Impact (HD).mkv

  • Anno ends 2.0 they way he did for creative liberty.

Anno spends his damn sweet time writing 3.0 and 4.0.

    Anno watches Madoka Magica.

Anno knows how to end This is (not) The End on a positive note.

  • Well a K-on! song and Evangelion hahaha >.<

  • @MsBaguioGirl Well, kind of.

It's actually a popular song by 70's band "Akai Tori" ("The Red Birds") that has been covered numerous times by everyone from the musical directors of K-On! to Susan Boyle.

  • @hotelmario510 SUSAN BOYLE!?

    really? Q.Q

  • @Funkopotomis Yes, look up "Wings to Fly" by Susan Boyle. She really sang this. My grandmother was shocked.

  • @hotelmario510 ಠ_ಠ

    ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

  • @Funkopotomis It's a well-known pop song in Japan.

  • I'm trying to remember what scene is this from?

  • @TheGratefulDew The scene where the dummy system takes over for the first time while shunji is piloting, the second time is when Unit-01 ascends into an angel form while shinji is trying to save rei

  • @TheGratefulDew The ending, when Shinji is pulling Rei from the Angel.

  • This song is quite nice. To all the mamby pambies whining below I have this to say.

I DO (NOT) GIVE A FUCK.

  • I heard this song for the first time with Evangelion 2.0, now im addicted... must...not...cry

  • The third impact begin !

  • 3:20 - megumi starts singing and later the chorus rejoins

    the best part IMO

  • this song is so great

  • Such a beautiful song I tear up every time I hear it but I love this song

  • Even thouth this was not the end of the Rebuild series I still think that this scene would have made a pretty nice and uniqe ending to a series.

  • this makes me cry and remember the times when i was a kid :D

  • DAMMIT REI GRAB MY HAAAAAND!!!!!

  • This is the only song I've ever listened to that completely makes me cry just by listening to it..... I'm not sure what it is.

  • 3.0!! :D welcome!

  • I loved this song but I kind of want to see the ending of 2.0 set to Komm suesser todd.

  • @TheVoxxification it actually called "komm süßer Tod" :)

  • @Safiichan Some people aren't competent enough to use accented characters so they spell foreign words phonetically. I still do that sometime when I'm feeling lazy.

The English pronunciation of the transliteration "Komm suesser todd" is the same as the German pronunciation of the phrase "komm süßer Tod."

I'm ruined for foreign languages because I learned a very generic version of newscaster german or "Hochdeutch" and now I say everything with those phonics rules.

  • And then Kawori fucked up the happiness.

  • @PonyofDuality Nice job Hero.

  • This was truly in my opinion one of the best endings I've ever seen in my still young life and easily the best animated film I've ever seen in my still young life. True enough, the movie had been magnificent throughout the majority, but when the finale began, I was brought to tears, not because I thought the world was ending, but because of everyone's part they played. Misato's words, Shinji and Rei's boundless love and the brilliant blaze of rapture, it was a vision I'll never forget, ever.

  • EPIC

  • i have too sing this song in my japanese class ! bahahah

  • this is ver an very beautifull song is amazing and very emotion!!!! my god!!! ^^

  • Cool Song but its not as striking without the images Hideaki Anno made to them.

The 2 combined had much greater impact.

  • 1:10: Cue Manly Tears. watch?v=rivmO6998yg&t=43s

  • @fireandchutes77

OK, not gonna lie, kind of creepy . . . and so very sad!

  • Somehow, I get the feeling that Evangelion 3.0 is going to either be even more awesome, now that Shinji is badass, or it's going to be worse than episode 25 and 26 of the originally broadcasted version (not the End of Evangelion ones)... I really hope for the first.

  • @kajen17 In all honesty, Shinji is not a badass, but one can argue he is borderline insane at this point, and the EVA reflects on that.

  • 5 dislikes, why did you even listen to this?

  • @jake02632

Perhaps they were searching for the various other covers of the same song.

  • Megumi Hayashibara sang this music. She is also the voice of Rei Ayanami.

  • is this song actually a cover of a traditional japanese childrens song?

  • @LengNigal I believe it is as it's quite popular. You'll hear the same song in Nichijou and K-On. Of course, those sound a lot happier. I believe they also sing this during graduation in Japan although this may be incorrect.

  • @hotsushii In that case, this is the first time I've heard a children's song in an apocalyptic scene...

  • @kajen17 I think they chose the song because it's symbolic to the scene that is happening. In the scene, Shinji's eva gains wings and he floats into the sky. Shinji doesn't care for anything at that moment, he just wants to save Rei and his evangelion is going to grant him that wish. In the song, the lyrics basically say that I don't care for money or fame, i just want my wish, i just want wings to fly away. The song was also sung in a very sad tone because of the scene.

  • ... I'm not going to lie- I like the way these movies turned out. Seriously. Its like the taking the original series and distilling to its pure roots.

    That said...

If Movie 4 is completely intra-spection of EACH CHARACTER, I WILL FLIP.

I conclude with this: "The Rebuild series is basically what would've happened if Michael Bay directed the original series."

  • @TalDSruler actually that's not true, the director of NGE wrote the original script quite dark, but had to change and add in humor, due to the period it was produced. if you can find the card trade, pics you will find that the very 1st card has a double layer skin, the artwork for card 000 is the pic of shinji with red eye in the cockpit.

    that said...

Micheal Bay can't do anything like this even if his life depended on it, his transformers series even lost to the youtube mortal kombat series

  • @v2099 first, Hideaki Anno was already a legend when EVA came out so he had no need to humor anything to please his boss. Second, all his previous works include much fanservice and gags, so no surprises here. Third, EVA was as dark and ominous as it could be already (maybe only Devilman had ever been so mean spirited) and if anything they're spicing it up with new characters and angels

  • @xdiesp which is why anno will not be the director for live action evangelion. he'll be doing cutie honey then

  • @v2099 live action yankeegelion is dark and ominious for all the wrong reasons D:

  • @xdiesp lol, i kinda pity the director(whoever it will be), Eva fans are very vicious.

  • This was one of the best ending's I've seen in a movie in a long time..

  • Aka the Theme Song for Near Third Impact.

  • just my impression or thissounds like pachebel's canon and gigue?

  • @erikdsi I agree. It has a similar chord progression, which, in turn, gives it resemblance to "Komm, Susser Tod" from End of Evangelion.

  • It's actually a song traditionally used at school graduations, so there are many versions from years as far as the 60's

  • @broodjekaas13

Huh. Well, that kind of makes Pomp and Circumstance look pathetic in comparison.

  • @Pyre

fuck pomp and circumstance oh my god

  • @TheBugfixed same here , too beautiful , sad that there is no a videoclip but its fine

  • About a week after seeing this in theaters I saw the first episode of K-on!.

I have never been more terrified by moe as I was that day.

  • That had to be one of the classiest endings ever.

  • The song that played when shinji became a badass

  • This is so awesome, every time I listen to this song it reminds me of "I'm a child of God" alot. =D

  • I cried when I watched the second movie at the end. I thought that it was the END of evangelion. Then I found out there's a third movie coming up. :P

  • @murfforever actually there's 4 in total

  • @murfforever actually there's 4 in total

  • Magnificent. Hideako anno is a brillant mind

  • i found this on k-on w while back lol its just so heartwarming:3

  • @KuraraChama

you should listen to sayaki sasaki's version really really good.

  • Every single goddamn version of this song is epic. Evangelion, K-ON, Nichijou, or otherwise.

  • I first heard this in a Puella Magi Madoka Magica amv.

I thought "Wow, this is a sweet song, I should look it up on youtube".

When I found out it's from Evangelion: ".............what? O_o"

  • @mapleplatoon While this is an excellent version, this is actually a cover. The original was sung by Akai Tori in 1971. There are many versions such as this, and more j-pop versions in K-on! and by Mucc.

  • @ClearMind42 I learned that earlier, but thanks!

  • @uetzel Wow.

  • @uetzel oh wow I never knew that

  • @Dan1104xv tsubasa wo kudasai akai tori <---- original from the 70's

  • @mapleplatoon its a show and their second ED is this

  • @rune111500 Thanks!

  • The continuation of the Second Impact...The Third Impact has begun. The World is ending.

  • I will sing this song when the actual world's end comes. This and the Soviet Union's National Anthem!

  • When a man's heart is full of deceit it burns up, dies, and a dark shadow falls over his soul. From the ashes of a once great man has risen a curse, a wrong that must be righted. We look to the skies for a vindicator, someone to strike fear into the black heart of the same man who created him. The battle between good and evil has begun. Against an army of shadows comes the Dark Warrior, the purveyor of good, with a voice of silence, and a mission of justice. This is Stince.

  • oh yeah and if 2012 ever happens I will close my eyes........have a brief flashback about my life and hear this wonderful song a wait for the end of the world yeah!!!

  • this song completely reminds of DON'T FUCKING MESS WITH SHINJI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You could make love to your special one with this song, and you could also stab them 73 times with this song too. <3

  • This melted my heart.

  • AYANAMIIII !!

  • This is the same song played in episode 1 of K-on to convince Yui to stay with them.

  • @Fagangryvirgin32 hmm i forgot which came 1st. K-On or NGE?

  • @MJerome195 It's a sort of traditional song that's often taught to children. It's been around way longer than either of those shows.

  • @prinkSunglasses Cool!! Didnt know that. Thanks for the info :)))

  • 3 angels disliked this :(

  • A world almost ending with this song... gives the scene a totally different (and beautifully profound) meaning.

  • Perfect.

  • Third Impact gives you wiiings!

  • Hearing this song makes me long for the end.

    In a happy way.

  • I heard the K-ON! version of this song after hearing this one, and have to say, they both have their creds. This one is better to me though because of the "epicness" of it, but not epic in the same sense as Gurren Lagann per say.

  • @TheK117erAngel

They took it out of the English dub, even when i switched the audio to Japanese it was gone, that really sucked.

  • @mioismoe Yah, I only heard the full K-ON version from the Fuwa Fuwa Time Album after I had watched the series. I do remember that they played a bit of the chorus early on in Season 1 though.

  • i cried so much at the end of this movie, and then BOOM eva 01 get hit and i was O.O

  • @v2099 I "WTF!!!" -ed too

  • @v2099 I "WTF!!!" -ed too

  • Shiro Sagisu plays totally unfitting music and makes it epic.

Shiro Sagisu plays totally fitting music and makes it more epic than super tengen toppa.

  • *red eyes* GIVE.... AYANAMI BAAACCCCKKKKK

~ The crowd officially stopped making fun of Shinji

  • @olaolapepsiman Shinji looks at the world in that scene and just says, "I WILL FUCKING END YOU IF IT MEANS GETTING AYANAMI BACK."

  • @olaolapepsiman It was inevitable. The entire point of Gendo being a royal prick was to give his son the chance to become god. The idea of human instrumentality in Evangelion was based on a Hindu principle called Neiti Neiti. The idea is that every facet of the human soul is merely a chain preventing them from becoming a god. The locks on those chains could be broken by the inversion of each trait. Introverted indecisive wimp to Resolute badass reaching out to the one he loves. They cancel out.

  • @MindlessInvalid finally someone noticed -_-

  • @olaolapepsiman yes!

  • what does the title mean?

  • @federicopresti I'm going to assume, according to Google, that the title translates to "Please Give Me Wings", which sounds like an appropriate title. I hope I was able to help.

  • @Roigawesomness could be, but I get different results with different translators, thanks though

  • Shinji does'nt care about the world he just want to fuck ayanami....

  • @zerociel27 So we all do...

  • My mom actually has memory singing this with her classmates back in Japan when she was in elementary school. But every time I happen to hear this song, I always think of Evangelion 2.0's tragic and emotional ending. This is just amazing! The combination of this song and the apocalyptic ending was pure genius in every way. In a Hollywood movie, it would just be smothered with "epic" music taking away the artistic viewpoint. This is just genius!

  • does anyone know of a place where i can download the piano music for this song?

  • the final scene is as close to love

  • the final scene is as close to love

  • Ah the feeling when the songs sends shivers down your body... It's just plain magnificent

  • esta cancion es genial y justo la tenia cargando cuando termine el S8 prejudce

  • Interesting. This is the song Krillin is singing at the beginning of dragon ball Z movie 8.

  • @kiaiho

if only goku would trully help

  • wen i hear this song i remember eva 01 masacre and finaly a rainbow at the last part of the figth is so so ...... awsome

  • Inside the huge waves of complementarity, it spins Heaven, Earth and all creation together, transforming itself into a condensed energy form. It's doing that to grant the wish of one human being. Just for that.

  • Damn.. 2.22 last night... Although the films have many different scenes, a new character, different in it's whole, I'm very satisfied. In the last minutes of 2.22 with this song going and Shinji's feelings for Rei... All in one word : Masterpiece.

The two films so far are just totally amazing!

  • quien rayos le daría 'dislike' a esta cancion ??? WTF ???

es una canción muy buena y el momento en el que sale en la pelicula le queda perfecto ; _ ; ...

    AYANAMI ! ! ! ! !

  • 0:00

  • quick restart 0.00

  • those 2 dislikes they must be gay

  • A lot of this song's power has to do with the context. They used the same song in K-On (albeit different style), but while one was just that cool song used at that one point, the other was a powerful moment that you never forget. Guess which was which.

  • I like how the lyrics fit the general theme of liberation - the epic rehersal of the "I can only live in here." line, and Shinji's answer to it, it's all so touching. When he told Rei II that she was unique, he unknowingly picked the most heartwarming words he could possibly have said to her.

  • i'ts been many years since i saw the end of evangelion at the movies....was an awsome experience....had a crush on rei..and now all over again...

  • it's been a lot of years since i saw the end of evangelion....i was 12 at that time...my mind was blowbing....had a crush on rei...and noww..is all over again....

  • @alonzoTT8

    Do you still love her?

    <
