This is the most beautiful place I've been to. Stopped off just before getting there in the middle of the sea to have a drink. When we did land we had a fantastic BBQ the only downside was the sand was too hot to walk on. Not a negative but a beautiful holiday and two weeks of pure heaven. This is a trip out from your hotel and we did the "artist village" first with the huge open air auditorium. Please, please don't listen to people who say their holiday to the Dom was " not very good " this is

The weather is the only factor and that's not really predictable. If you're able to travel at a moments notice, Sept. generally has the best prices, after the kids go back to school. We've been in DR in Nov & Dec. had perfect weather.

A Cure for S.A.D. indeed ! I get S.A.D. every winter and last year went to Varadero Cuba in the winter for 2 wks, and going back again next winter.

I really should go there, I moved to Dominican Republic recently and I've only visited altos de chavon, Higuey and its "campos", Punta Cana and San Juan de la Maguana. Punta Cana was so beautiful it has one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and I saw many famous golfers in the PGA tour. It was fantastic, I need to go to Santiago and Jarabacoa and around Samana some time soon.

JCV...was there during Christmas 2003...it really is paradise!!! We stayed at the Occidental Grand Flamenco Hotel in Punta Cana for 2 weeks and we paid $75 each for a day trip to Isla Saona where we had food, drinks and a GORGEOUS beach with a perfect turquoise sea!!!! Just got back 3 weeks ago from Montego Bay, Jamaica...if u haven't been...go!!!
