you keep hearing about this 2/3rds majority required for budget-and how its costing us billions each year. According to wikipedia the 2/3rds majority of a proposed CA budget(prop 13 and 218) is ONLY REQUIRED IF A RAISE IN TAXES IS PROPOSED- they shouldn't be trying to raise taxes in this economy anyway! Whatever revenue the tax being proposed will bring in is either greatly hindered,cancelled out- or even PUT INTO THE NEGATIVE by the gridlock resulting 2/3 approval requirement for that tax.

Obviously not feeling the pain in Sacramento because the Democrats just proposed a 91 billion dollar budget with a 84 billion income next year. The reps came back with a 84 billion dollar budget.  If the first is passed gues what you the working and shopping for luxuries like food will have to eat less to pay taxes to pay the shortffall. We need to loose at least 15 democrats or more to escape the pit.

I wish that so much wouldn't be taken from the school system, at least the parts of the school system that need it most. My younger brother graduated high school with honors and was unable to register to any local colleges near my city. The community college I go to had half of it's classes cut and over 100 professors lost their jobs this year. This portion of our public sector is needed to strengthen our private sector.

How about sending home all the useless state workers at the EDD who are completely worthless. These guys promise me training and then take it back. Then they send me to training seminar and they the seminar tells me there's not funding. Then they say I have a shot at landing a job with the state as long as I pass the test and then it fails. I've been going around in a big circle, and so has millions of Californians. We're sick of it! I want them to feel how I feel for once!

Why would you cut state employee's pay to minimum wage? The wages you should be cutting are the legislators. They're the ones who aren't doing the job they were elected to do! Those fat cats can afford it. The state employees can't!

Terminator got his chance during the 2003 recall and had 7 years to fix our fiscal mess. He tried ballot initiatives, name calling, media marketing and nothing has worked for him. I wanted our Governor and California to succeed, but his approach was flawed from the beginning. What will be Arnold's legacy? unemployment, budget crisis and the worst fiscal mess than the State has been in more that 80 years.

Jokes aside, i, a Briton, agree with the Governor. And so does our government. It has been statistically proven that cutting public spending shrinks the economy less than raising taxes. And the bottome line is that it is the private sector that PAYS for the public sector in the end. The public sector is necessary, but the private sector is the engine of the nation.

Why do public workers deserve a pension for life? I want a pension, but the marketplace says that most workers don't get one. Taking my tax money to pay for huge pensions for public workers when I don't have a pension is adding insult to injury. Arnold, If you read these comments please go watch the movie Commando that you did. You need to be like John Matrix and destroy those nasty public unions.

It is difficult for the republicans and democrats to reach an agreement when the numbers that they use are deliberately misleading. For instance pension's at 80% of the budget? The controller and 2009/2010 budget puts it at less than 5%. How can they move forward until they put politics aside and speak honestly about the problem.
