The Goodmans were an awesome group, they somtimes didn't get every note or key right, But The thing they did get right was they actually lived what they sang, that is what made them the best Singing group ever.
And 9 out of 10 chances the driver of the bus at that time was none other than Sam Goodman himself, as i did get to meet them several times at concerts and also in church when they visited and sang at the Church Of God in Carmi Illinois, In the South Eastern Part of Illinois. I also remember Vestal before her trademark hanky as well. Aww how i miss them and there singing and Howards own style of piano playing.
I was Blessed to be in their Concerts they had in Arkansas. I tried to make as many as I could. The "Goodmans" set the Example for Good Holy Ghost Anointed Singing. It wasn't only Singing.... it was Worship and Praise !!!
How absolutely wonderful. My whole family and I went to one their concerts back in the the late 70's. My Mother (who passed away in Dec.) Loved and met Vestal. My mom always had their albums going while she cleaned the house.
Oh how much sweeter the heavenly choir in that city of Gold sounds, now that all the Happy Goodman members are there joining in on the chorus!! Sing on for another million years my friends--we will see you there!!
i do miss these wonderful people. i fell in love with them and their music 21 years ago and actually got to see one of their last concerts before God called them home.
i dream of the day i get to sing to the Lord side by side with vestal and her family.
Happy, Vestal and the Family all came to my dad's church every year back in the earky 50's (yep, they go back a ways). They were with us for the Sunday morning servoce then we all had a wonderful Sunday dinner (wasn't lunch back then). Afterwards, everyone made there way back to the church for an afternoon of the Greatest Gospel ever sung. The Goodmans were always the most wonderful weekend of the year. Dad and Mom have gone on to be with Jesus but the memories will alwyas be there. Praise God.
I fell in love with the Happy Goodmans 35 years ago, and although I miss hearing new material, I visit with them often, listening to their albums (I have most of them on vinyl still!) One thing is for certain...you simply cannot be depressed and listen to the Goodmans, because their music is an uplifting experience each time you hear it.
I miss ya, Howard, Vestal, Rusty and Sam. Lord, I miss ya.
The Goodmans were one of the best, loyal, and true blue Christian families to ever walk out on a stage or in a church ... Heaven is sweeter with all of them now there, but we miss them.
They sing 'God Walks the Dark Hills,' and another favorite of mine that they sang was, 'The Hills of Home are Calling Me.' Such a fantastic group of Gospel Singers!
i saw a video of them once in a 70s era performance, and one of the men was having a lighthearted sing-off against Vestal, going higher and higher...does anyone know where i can find this video??
I was at Howard and Vestal Goodman's home many years ago here in Kentucky. When we left, we felt like we have known them a lifetime. They treated us like family, and were down to earth, good people. I miss their singing.
THEY ARE MISSED BY SO MANY PEOPLE. ME INCLUDED!! LOVE ALL OF THEIR SONGS. CLEAR TITLE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES!!!

In my opinion the Goodmans were the best! You can't beat Howard, Vestal, Rusty and Sam.
