@denikini The bang trick is a 2 part, i first trained her in the down position, then while she is in the down position I would say bang then I would lay her on her side, I repeated that over an over till she did it on her own.

Wow, that's really impressive. Our shih tzu, Pepsi does NOT listen to us! All he does is chew on things and bite. He acts like he the big boss man around here LOL. Any tips on how to get Pepsi to learn at least half of what Sadie knows? Any advice would be helpful!

Great tricks. I have a brussel griffon that spins on command as her trick. Same as your turn but a bit faster. I have a new shih-tzu puppy in training now. Zu's are the best family pet. Lots of character.

:D I like this, why? Because it PROVES that little dogs arent stupidIve got a Maltese x Shih Tzu and am in the middle of teaching her nifty little tricks :) since when i adopted her she was a demon. But now she knows Sit, down, shake, leave it. Get'em! (when in play mode with our other dog or whoever wants to play with her), 1,2,3 Go!,roll over and now im teachin her to Twirl where she stands on her back feet and does a spin :)

@sabrinas0609 I'm not a professional trainer but when training Sadie I only concentrated on one trick at a time till she got it, at times she wouldnt listen thats when I backed off and started again the next day. Good Luck

@sabrinas0609 Try bacon for inspiration (little tiny pieces). Notice how BlueBunny242 rewards only AFTER she completes the task. He also properly uses her name each time. So getting the dog to know his/her name properly is key. This guy does an exceptional job communicating and treats always on the positive. Oh, its not the dog, learning to train a dog s really teaching the trainer. Youll get it, but need to be very consistant. Very nice!

@mariec240 It took less than a year to teach her all the tricks, it was a lot of time, over and over just for one trick but worth it since im just a rookie trainer. Im not sure about your will get calmer, Sadie was a calm puppy when we got her, I'm sure yours will be calmer in time.

@capelarry Yes we love her dearly.. it took many treats and a lot of Patience to teach her to play dead, I started her in the down position then I say bang, I would then lay her on her side and gave her a treat, I would do that over and over till she gets it.

So cute. And smart. Our Shih-Tzu, Molly, learned the "BANG!" trick, too! All my life I'd wanted a dog that played dead, and my wife teaches little Molly in a few hours. We have a Black Lab, too, Annabelle, but the Shih-Tzu is the only one who'll play dead. Adorable!

But anyways Shih Tzus. :P I dislike their hairstyles..I don't know why! If their fur is like yours, they look all cute but "plain." @76rsablan I started training her in the down position first, then after that i started training her to roll by turning her over with my hands for about a week till she got it, of course have to give her a treat everytime i roll her over.
