One of the greatest players every, one of the strongest men both physically and mentally and one of the kindest I have ever met.... Ian, you were an inspiration to me as a kid playing footy in the Manly district, all of us wanted to wear your number playing footy at school and you were an even greater inspiration when I realised that it was OK to be gay........ You're a true champion and always have been a gentleman!
Unless you're a chick wanting to score with Roberts, I don't see why him being gay is a "shame". His footy goes to show sexuality doesn't mean sh!t outside the bedroom.

with the players souths had they would have been successful in the nintees instead other clubs take all the quality and leave souths with players who should stay in reserve grade.
To bad souths didnt have the money or someone like russel Crowe and Peter holmes a' Court back then otherwise we may have won premierships in the nintees with that team we had instead of wooden spoons.

@Tarrant1976 I'd say 1989 because the salary cap was introduced in 1990 and Roberts started his career with Manly that same year.
