Let me put this to rest, first off a 98 Corvette has the first gen LS1 engine, not even an LS6 that comes in the C5 Z06 or the later base C5's. This car also has a crappy M6 and not the MM12 transmission in the Z06's which means the gears are EXTREMELY long. Lastly, a cam in this car MAYBE gets it to 380whp MAX with a shitty LS1 intake. LS6 car with cam only is looking at 430-440whp, add heads 480-490whp, add 150 shot over 650whp then it's GG Miata and anything else for UNDER 5 grand.

Right now I drive a sightly modded 2004 Miata Speed, and I a about to throw about 3K more at it with BEGI mods, to get it up to 250 hp.

@flyingdutchman916 Only real issue with turboing the B6ZE is it just doesn't feel natural. If its a track car, who cares, but for a daily car, it just doesn't feel right. Much like the Mazdaspeed Miata did. Just not refined with a turbo strapped on. That's why I went rotary. :)

Also, I'd like to add, let's be serious here, there are NOT that many fast Miata's like this one around. This guy has probably realistically invested over 6 grand into his engine/turbo setup for this car. the SMART move for ANY Miata owner is to go to flyinmiata, buy the LSX conversion kit, and put an LS motor in your car and throw your Miata engine in the trash. The power potential of a four cylinder is HALF that of a V8. Miata owners KNOW the LSX engine is the better powerplant.

@Jutzujin Next motor WILL be an LS2 or better. Doesn't seem all that difficult if you buy the parts from Monster Miata and Flyin Miata. Used LS1/2 off LS1tech, build it stronger and drop it in for less than a new crate motor. I want to do it to an FC/FC RX7 as well.

corvette needs a lot of work. A million bucks under the hood of a miata is going to look good, but you are never gonna be able to make the power of a V8. Not only that, but corvettes have more support and parts everywhere. i love miatas and corvettes so it's not bias, just fact. That miata there is a quick one. The Stock LS1 has a 345 horse. This guy should let us know what the power band of that cam is. That Miata is def quick.
