  • this is awesome! i love Petula Clark and Peggy Lee they complement eachother well.

  • What show was this?

  • Bloody fantastic! Two superb Icons together, Peggy Lee always admired Petula's voice and style;and vice-versa. If Ella had joined them, you would have had the three best Female singers ever.

You can take all of the x-factor type rubbish and stuff it! Thank Goodness we still have Petula recording for us.

  • I love this duet. It epitomizes the youthful and independent style of the early 70's As a small child I was babysat by a family friend with hair al la Peggy. I still remember visiting the hair salon and their beautiful split level home with sunken conversation pit in white shag and floor to ceiling white brick fireplace. She collected vintage blue vaseline glass and it looked stunning against the white brick. Her husband collected pirhanas in a huge aquarium. Long live the 70's.

  • They both look and sound fantastic. And, bravo Laura Nyro for your remarkable talents.

  • These two ladies reflect nothing but pure class, true talent and gifted voices. How could you possibly listen to them sing and not be moved...

  • So cool. I've been lucky enough to have seen both ladies perform. Ms. Clark here in NYC at a 'special' function (she sang MY LOVE - which she hates - to me), and then again, I flew to London JUST for the night to see her in BLOOD BROTHERS.B.B., ick, Pet -Yum!

Ms. Lee did a cabaret here in NYC a few years before she passed. Even though she wasn't well, she gave an awesome performance. She dragged me up with her, and sang to me - I don't remember what though, bt I won't forget that.

    Great clip!

  • thank you hoovrbrt for mentioning the great Laura Nyro, almost forgotten today Laura and Peggy no longer with us . I had the pleasure of meeting (briefly) Petula Clark in Melbourne Australia in the early 2000s a gracious lovely person . Petula Clark would have had one of the longest careers in show-biz she was making films in the late 40s and still looks the same, but older. She really does still sound the same as she did when she was a kid.

  • Beautiful ladies and beautiful voices! Love Peggy's hair, so cute

  • This is from a 1970 special entitled "Petula". Peggy was 50 years old. Born in Jamestown, North Dakota. I have been there at least twice.

  • She looks like a cross between Mae West and Uncle Fester

  • @creaturezx Not nice and not true.

  • Petula Clark always looked like she just stepped out of the kitchen while making meatloaf

  • great one ... geat two!

  • Absolutely fabulous!!!

  • I love Petula Clark but she looks like a skinny chicken next to HER ROYAL HIGHNESS.

  • Petula is great and Miss Lee had the LOOK. Both sang great. What a surprise to hear their duet of the great Laura Nyro's "Wedding Bell Blues". Three great women of music! Thanks for sharing.

  • The angels cry...

  • Sad that no one has replaced these two. We're at the end of an age.

  • dougeski, you're so right, and the true reason is that no one could EVER replace these two. Subtlety is lost. The ability to "suggest" or "infer" things with a look, a glance, a simple hand-gesture has been replaced with crudeness...the respect and admiration has been replaced with cheap, tawdry wh*rishness. Seeing any of the "new" artists perform these songs is close to sacriledge. There is no artistry anymore. Now, it's all just the cheap showing of skin with "coochie-popping"...ugh!

  • It's just no use complaining that we are are about the world's end. Since there's nothing on to enjoy these days, we can still explore the great of the past:))

  • @dougeski No need to replace Pet for the moment. She is still working and shortly to do the star guest spot at the Montreux Jazz Festival, various shows planned in the States and Canada, and a spectacular in Théâtre St Denis, in Montréal. She scored her first Silver disc fro an Album in 2008 in the UK. Peggy, regretfully has no replacement.

  • Pet is so my honie !

  • what can Pet do to make you do bad flips? Is that a referance to a song she did?

  • Um...it's "Backflips"...here...have some Historical Perspective...it's free.

  • you know i think they both said enough!

  • What year was this? Thanks.

  • What year is this? Thanks.

  • did she say Pet can take a song and make you do bad flips?

  • LOVE!

  • Peggy and Petula did a great job with this Medley, just like the 5th Dimension, but laying in the grave is the writer of many of the great songs from the 60's named Laura Nyro. What a bleepen shame she never received her dues thanks to the way the industry was run.

  • is1531, I didn't know anything about Laura Nyro, what other songs did she sing! I always loved the singer of songs, but they could not be song without a good song writer!

  • Thanks for the share, JJ! I LOVED THIS! Thanks for the post Mourillio! 10+ stars! Warmly, Red

  • i love peggy lees look

  • Love Petula and Peggy!

  • a very armonious combination, Petula

and Peggy, a real pleasure, thanks !

  • Two pro's!

  • PJScooter - Petula is still with us, I saw her in Dayton OH two weeks ago, she is singing great and looked beautiful.

  • The Mr. Tibbs is the name of a movie that Petula Clark starred in, u should see it....anyway, thanks for posting this video,,,,,,both performers are great and I personally miss hearing them both!

  • The reference bt Peggy Lee to the video is to a movie Petula Clark starred in called "Mr. Tibbs" not Mr. Tipps. By the way....a good movie to watch. This video showcases the wonderful talent of both Petula Calrk and Peggy Lee, thank you so much for posting it!

  • Pet was good but Peggy was awesome. Does anyone know who Mr Tipps is that Pet melted?

  • ... I know that I wouldnt mind being this Mr. Tipps of hers ...

    heheheh

  • Actually it was "Mr Chips"

Pet had starred in the musical version of the old movie "Good Bye Mr. Chips" with Peter O'Toole.

  • Wonderful treasure!! Might you have and post the duet with Dusty and Pet? Thanks!

  • this was grand i loved it

  • i liked that

    it was great

  • Couple of class acts. Smashing!

  • wow this was awesome

  • simply superb!

  • All I can say is WOW. Thanks for posting!

  • Wow - two of my favorite singers together!! Thank you so much for posting this clip!

  • Peggy looks great. Her hairdo is groovy. I wonder if she's wearing a hairpiece ?

  • oh nvm i it was in the 70's lol

  • holly crap peggy lee still looks great, how old is she

  • She had to be in her early 50s here and looks fantastic .....and sounds terrific.

  • i know that. i mean. "Lets talk about men" when they say it

  • A W E S O M E

  • lets talk about men. I love it!

  • Men don't talk. They do.

  • whats the name of the second song. i love it

  • Wedding Bell Blues, version most well known was by the Fifth Dimension.

  • uhmm..aaa.aa. speachless.. AMAZING! 5*

  • Can please anyone tell me, from whom this song original is?

I´m searching for it so long.

    Thank you so much

  • This song is a original of peggy lee's.

  • Young Pet Clark was sexy

  • she's still :)

  • I love you vincent!

  • It might be a stupid question but where are the mics? Cause I can tell they r not playbacking... or R they... doesn't matter thou still LOVE IT!!!

  • maybe above their heads :) is a common tehnique in television, especially in the 80's (just a guess, hehe)

  • Great video !

  • Wow, I can't believe how much Peggy looks like Madeline Kahn here. Love them both. How cute, the part about men.

  • Which show is this?

  • This is Pet's third US tv special, which aired on the ABC network in December,1970.

It was also considered a successful pilot for a planned series. However, the series never materialised, largely due to Pet's family not

    wanting to live in L.A.

  • American Peggy Egstrom Lee of Norwegian descent was a true jazz singer. A real Ice Queen of North Dakota.

  • This is one of the best videos on you tube.

Such a Joy to watch and such fun to see them enjoying themselves and not being to serious.

    Thanks for this.

  • it should be noted that most white americans are of british ancestry, learn your history man.

  • Hi Ace, That would be incorrect, Americans of German Ancestry (15.2%) are most prevalent, Irish Americans (10.8%) come in 2nd, and the British are 3rd (8.7%%).

And...Peggy Lee is just an incredible performer.

  • sepod....do you know the stats for some of the other white American groups? Such as Italians, Slavs (Poles, Ukraines, Czechs, Russians, Serbs, Macedonians), Dutch, French, Greeks, Scandanavians, and Latinos (Spanish)?

  • @siroptimistic Latinos are not (Spanish). If you are looking for percentages of LatinAmericans you look for LatinAmericans, not the Spanish, who by the way had a miniscule immigration to the USA compared with other Europeans.

  • I got my data from WIKI, the online Encyclopedia. Where did you get your info from?

  • Class act! Thanks for posting something I've never seen before.

  • What a Great Chemistry These 2 Lovely Ladies have.

This is One of the Best Clips on You tube.

Thanks for this and if you have anymore,Please,Please put them on here.

  • top of the top

  • Im watching this again! What I like about Petula is that she doesnt "look" like a celebrity. She could be a housewife, shop assistant etc etc. Its her mannerisms. I like that in a celebrity.

  • LOl @ "she could be a housewife etc" Oh yes I roam around the house dressed like her all the time...lol **pssst wanna see some pix *Shazi opening up her housedress and flashing** heheheheee

  • LOL What I meant was Petula looks "human". She is not all glamour, glitz and showy off like the likes of Victoria Beckham and Jordan (Katie) etc etc. She is a fine singer and someone us ordinary folk can relate to far better than the likes of these "celebs" you get today. I so hate the term "celebrity"!!!! A "star" as Pet is sounds far better. Anyway, still very much enjoying this video of Pet and Peggy!

  • Im watching this again! What I like about Petula is that she doesnt "look" like a celebrity. She could be a housewife, shop assistant etc etc. Its her mannerisms. I like that in a celebrity.

  • This is heaven! I LOVE Petula AND Peggy! To here them singing together is pure heaven indeed! I have watched this about 10 times! This IS real singing!

  • Great singers are great where evere they are in this case Petula Clerk is far more superior to peggy lee in her music and that's what matters not the country or how they look

  • If you read my comment properly, I was making a comparison between these two great singers.

Petula, by herself is great..But it looks like, she has tossed her shoes off, just before this duet!

If you notice thru the second song.."Will you marry me bill"..Peggy only gives Petula 4 sideways glances & only directly looks at her at the end of the song!

Now,in my book, that says volumes, what Peggy thought of that duet!

Regardless. We all have freedom of speech & everyone is allowed their opinion!

  • I suppose you don't have much about music in you book it's probably may be more about todays trashy concept of performing art and those are secondary things in more pure music world.

  • I read your comment properly and making comparisons between two great ladies and singers is childish and silly... especially when you try to knock one down to make the other look good. Grow up. Petula is second to NOBODY. BOTH ladies are beautiful, classy and talented in their own right and I'm sure that each has some strenghts that the other lacks. Since when does kicking your shoes off make you trashy? You're right that we're entitled to our own opinions and in MY opinion, you're ridiculous.

  • @JeanJacquelyn The shoe kicking comes after Petula sings her first song (Beautiful Sounds) and then, in her intro, tells us how ordinary she is... and that the shoes are pinching. It's rather amusing. But you're right, I've met her a few times and she's as ordinary as the woman at the end of the road, except she has a voice that would blow the back off your average concert hall... and she's a millionaire superstar.

  • This is just wonderfull

  • When I watch this video, I think about the difference between British women (like Petula Clark) and American women (like Peggy Lee). Does anyone agree that American women are more polished and more easy-going than British women?

  • ummm gimme a brake..It has got NOTHING to do with where ya come from!!

  • Yep Yep..It's quite obvious that poor Petula keeps looking at Peggy right thru the last song, waiting for Peggy to look back at her! Hehehe.

  • Weren't they BOTH LEMONS??? lol singing about When I am going to see my wedding day..hehehehe.....

  • You silly. They are not singing this because they want to get married, but because "Wedding Bell Blues" was a huge top hit at that time, for the group The Fifth Dimension, and because it's a comical choice in a medley about being a woman & having to deal with men.

  • lol Yes I am a silly wabbit!!! lol

  • I agree Pet Clark is a fine woman and very down to earth! These two sound awesome together!! I love them both!

  • ¡Magnífico!. Damas talentosas poseedoras de bellímas voces. Las armonías son perfectas, inmejorables. Da gusto escuchar música y canciones en este nivel. Gracias al amigo "mourillio" por colgar este video.

  • w-o-m-a-n!

  • classy...classy ladies

  • Peggy Lee is awesome!!

  • Wow!!!!!

This is awesome. I ordered Petula's "Duet's" CD just to get this song. It is the absolute best. I, too, wonder how they did it! Bravo to both Pet and Peggy!

  • I have watched this about 100 times. I am so amazed. How did they do it? I'd love to see 2 pop stars today even try to come close. Theres no way. These gals are awesome

    .

  • Terrific clip...both gals sound great! Thanks!

  • wow fantastic clip!

  • Two great musical legends in wonderful form together...a real treat to see after all these years and both look and sound fantastic together doing a medley around a Peggy Lee original "I'm A Woman"...Bravo Peggy & Petula!!!

  • I wish I could sign the petition - I'm from USA and God knows she deserves all the accolades she can receive. She is a national treasure of the UK.

  • Smashing - best quality in colour of this I have ever seen.

    many thanks

    G
