  • brings back memories. my friend's mother used to cry whenever we would play this song

  • Look for Tracy's new CD due out in July. Check out some of the cuts at engineroomrecordings (dot) com.

  • ...who did a cover of this song? *lol* j/k I see the video in the sidebar. I have to admit, I like the fact that I haven't heard of the cover until just this very minute. I looked up the video on YouTube because I hadn't seen it in a while and was singing the song this morning. This song is deep in lyrical placement and video storyline.

  • Let mee see... Kate Nash seems to be angry, some what. ... mmm.. can't think of any. I guess your question is valid :-)

  • daaaang..back in the days. thanks for posting! great song ~

  • Oh my goodness....I never knew who sang this and I've never seen this video before today. I've been looking for this song off and on for YEARS. THANK YOU a thousand times over for posting it here.

  • Mother has OCD

  • I can't believe people are talking about a cover that prob wasn't half as popular as this original. I hardly know who the Veronicas are, and have never heard their version. This is the only one as far as I am concerned.

  • Thanks for synching the audio. It was hard to watch before. This has always been one of my favorite songs.

  • Her screams not as sexy as Jess Origliasso's (The Veronicas)

  • WIN!

  • Tenho boas lembranças quando escuto esse música ... bons tempos

  • i only know about this song from absolutely loving the veronicas' version, then finding out it was a cover, and listening to this! ive realised how much better the original is but ofc i'll always love the v's version more.. just cos its the one i heard first, and has been one of my fav songs for years and i have a lot of memories with it. but this version is the truely better one :)

  • I have been listening to tracy bonham for 14 years!!! I LOVE HER!! I like the veronicas ... and i like that they know of tracy because i have never met anyone who has hurd a single song of hers. I'm just sad that hardley anyone knew their remake of mother mother was a cover.

  • Until finally found you

  • this songs reminds me of such and such year, when such and such happened to me. i was in thirteenth grade.

  • this song kicks complete and utter ass

  • i love the song but i have to admit a little disappointed by the video. it was really boring :/

  • @parisRAWR : I think it's simple but effective

  • i love this song, the veronicas version is great too, but i wouldn't say better! also look up the Dilana version too for anyone who's interested.

  • OMG, I LOVED this song back in the day. Glad to see the video again!!

  • ah ha ha, the cover is NOT better. ugh. people just don't know music anymore.

  • I Remember this song from back in like 1996...I'm from a Suburb that's 20-Miles Dead-West of Boston, MA & back in those days, Opie & Anthony were still on the Boston Radio Station 107.3 WAAF & I remember Opie & Anthony talking about big concert or show they were at & Anthony saying "Tracy Bonham just looked like she needed a hug..."

  • Her voice is so innocent

  • when she screams, thats how i feel pretty much all the time.

  • STOP IGNORING ME!!!

  • "strong language"

  • this version (the original) is far and away better than veronicas cover

  • Man,I HATED the whole "angry chick" trend in the mid nineties.

  • Who the hell r the veronicas?

  • An autstralian pop-rock duo(twin sisters) who made a cover of this song. Their first album was pretty nice, but the second was...different..

  • If one more person posts how much better the Veronica's version is I'm gonna go crazy. Are you people stupid? I thought the whole point to doing a cover was to change it up a little and show respect to the original artist by putting your own twist on their work... Their version just sounds like they are trying to be Tracy Bonham. That's terrible. Why not change your band name to "We Can Sound Like Tracy Bonham" Idiots. And how can a version that sounds almost identical to this be better?

  • The mother looks like Peggy Hill.

  • @dmarshallok GOOD CALL!!! I was Totally trying to figure out what was so familiar about that one & you totally nailed it!!!

  • aaaahhhhhhhh... college

  • omg. six years old really,,,, I was 20 years old really livin this life. wondering where my next meal was going to come from. That is real!!! Power to ya for loving this song though. I have made something of myself and my mom still doesn't knowthe struggles I have gone through. That is real talk. I owe her that much for being a great independent mother!!!!!!!!!

  • Found this randomly, suddenly fell in love with it. Wow.

  • Vraiment beau. Merci pour cette playlist.. TOP .

  • I just woke up this morning and recalled this singer from a dream i had. Freakin weird that would just pop up randomly in a dream. I had completely forgotten about this song. I used to listen to it all the time on the radio when I was a kid.

  • plus i did just get done watching those veronica chics or whatever, and no they suckkkkkkkk.

  • well for those who dont get the video i will give you a run down on the logic on why she was on the tv, mmmmkkkkkk, lmao. anyways this song is about how her mother was very strict and sheltered with her-like all her life, so when she started getting hooked on drugs and then wanted to become a singer, then her mother totally disowned her, so she had to pretend that everything was always ok. thats why shes on the tv because in her mind she was supposed to be like this fin leave it to beaver type

  • that sucks compared to The Veronicas cover xD

  • Hardly, the veronicas version on top of sounding phone in is a complete and utter rip on this song. Usually artists like to put thier own spin on original material but thier cover is banal at best. The original is leaps and bounds better in every way,

  • @w0rldcircles

I'll have to disagree with you for calling this song sucks compared to The Veronicas' cover, because IMO, The Vs covers this song EXACTLY how it is, including how Tracy Bonham sings it!

In other word: if The Vs' version sounds good, it's 'cause the ori's already good.

So calling Tracy's version "suck" is too much, isn't it?

I guess you'd heard the cover version first before you hearing this original one, thus you can't help but thinking that it was Tracy who covers The Veronica.

  • The Veronicas don't have the range in their voices to come close to singing this as good. That and they are cookie cutter just like all the other crap out now.

  • @w0rldcircles

That is IF the cover-artist sings the song again in his/her own version.

Like Rihanna's Umbrella by Van.Sky, Kanye's Heartless by The Fray's and Kris Allen's, Michael's Billy Jean by Chris Cornell...

But The Veronicas cover this song just the way it sounds!

So if you think The Veronicas' cover is good, it's because TRACY made it good. The smooth voice, crazy scream, the angry guitar: Tracy did it.

If you like Veronicas' version better, it's ok. But calling this one sucks? Hm!

  • the funniest thing about this cd is she had a song on it called "one hit wonder"

    lol

  • Love the song--bought the CD the minute it came out!!! Only I HATE it when an artist does these kinds of videos where they ONLY appear in a TV set.

I think it would've been better (or maybe just as good?) if she would've appeared live with her band in the next room. It's like Tracy, come out of the TV already!!!

    Thanks for posting!!!

  • I really miss the angry female singers from the nineties. Tracy Bonham, Shirley Manson, Alanis Morissette. Where did all the anger go?

  • Pink?

  • They all became rich and found happiness. ^_^

  • It was replaced by Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus and their ilk.

  • wow dont know whos version is better the veronicas or hers?

  • honestly who the hell cares? This is the freakin original... i dont care who covers it this will always be the best

  • what memories!

  • looooooooooooooooove this song!!!

  • i love this song, its been in my top 10 since i was like 5

ima sing it for my talent show

  • I remember when this came out it blew my mind. That album was so original.

  • i love this song its so awesome acoustic+screams

  • ah!! the 90's whem trendy music wasnt bothering around like todays so called bands are doing

  • coooollll.. bacana, legal...!

  • great great great great great great great great :)

  • I remember that either Tracy or this song was nominated in some music award, maybe the Grammy...Tracy was running neck to neck against Alanis Morisette. The host Rosy O´Donnel mimicked the nominees. Tracy cringed and covered her face in shame. Such a pity. She could have won. The song is good.

  • wow she has a temper dosent she?

  • this is the things that a mother doesn't want to hear.but love this song

  • I'm in love

  • Hah, man it's been a while. For some reason I remember this video having more sex appeal when I was younger. Maybe I'm confusing it with Alanis Morrisette. Either way, I love this song. The chorus is brutal and she has a stellar scream.

  • i made the same confusion when i was 10 because both had that "jagged girl theme"

  • No there was another video of this. I remember it from a clip they had on Beavis and Butthead show.I can't find it on Youtube though, I found 2 versions neither of them the one your thinking of.

  • Who's better at incorporating a scream into a refrain, Bonham or Kelis?

  • So you think a shamelesly and almost identical covered version of the original is better than the original? Culture Barbarian! Tracy Bonham Rocks and brought a new kind of music to the 90's. The Veronica's just stole this concept

  • i don't get it y is she in a tv????? hey you people check out SAV and MC thoes people rock

  • Great tune & great video. Nice job.

  • i knew every word to this song when i was like 7 HAHA its still onve of my favorite songs ever

  • lol me too i was like six when it came out. I would always sing it to my mom :)

  • I love this song :) i feel like this song most of the time hahahah

  • alguien puede traducir esta cancion por fa gracias

  • great song

  • I can't quite understand what she says at the end...

  • I'm hungry I'm dirty I'm losing my mind Everything's fine I'm freezing I'm starving I'm bleeding to death Everything's fine I miss you I love you (commercial on tv) Precious stone, precious.
  • wow i remember this, thanks!!

  • i had this song stuck in my head since tha first time i heard it like five years ago...so thanx so much for posting it finally i can put a name to tha song...u have no idea how much this has helped...thanx again

  • i like it when she screams, thats what got me into the song.

  • i like the screaming

  • I liked the screaming part

I think the whole thing was awesome

  • it's an incredible song and video. thanks.

  • This song sucks. No wonder she dropped off the face of the planet.

  • i have that chair lol

  • gotta love the 90's. So unassumingly self-centered.

  • This was a great song. As someone else pointed out, that is Tracy's mother in the clip. Tracey said that the song was just her trying to ease her mother's mind and she always just told her mother that everything was fine, she was trying to get a record deal etc etc but secretly, she was hurting but she didn't want her mother to know the truth.

  • Mother mother

  • This song (and video) never gets old. Thanks for posting.--777

  • that was awesome

  • Her albums where so original and quality; Tracy deserved more attention than she got.

  • Still love this song!!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!! its amazing the way she goes from happy to pissed in two seconds!!!

  • :D sweet song, awesome video. :) I so favorited this. :)

  • Whenever people use the powder vaccum stuff and I sit on their carpet it makes my butt itch like through my jeans. I hate that stuff.

  • Man, I only wished my mother was this oblivious back in the day.

  • As a good mother who likes this song, I have to say that Moms are taking a bad rap with this song.

We are all responsible for our own actions. Even if our Moms vacuumed too much or pretended that everything was fine.

Imagine being the child of someone who beat the crap out of you every day.

  • I like this song. Just heard it on the radio. i like how she screams out! lol

  • Everything's fine.

  • "Precious stone, precious!"

  • Man, this brings back memories. I was in high school when this Album came out. It seemed like there was a mini revolution of angry female rockers around this time, such as Alanis Morissette , etc. Great song!

  • Best song to describe that period of time right after you move away from home to school, work, whatever. I made that call to Mom once to tell her "I'm great", "Relax! I can take care of myself". It was a HUGE LIE! I was hungry, totally broke, scared, all clothes dirty-no soap, electric bill was past due, slept on a mattress on the floor and one box of cereal to eat but no milk. I just wanted to be back in my room at home. I told that lie because I loved my parents.

  • haha...wicked! ..Is she still making music does anyone know?

  • freakin classic

  • i love this song

  • remember back when people used vcr's

  • I kinda liked the screaming.....

  • This just proves... You've got to do the shake and vac, Too put the freshness back.

  • i love this video who does not like it?

  • One of the best songs of my life for some strange reason...enuff said...

  • cracking tune, mint album

  • What was their budget for this video? $500?

  • Whatever happened to POE?

    U know, Angry Johnny.....

    Trigger Happy Jack?

    Hello Hello???

  • i luv this song!! it son my ipod

  • 90s' 1 hit wonder. lol

  • this is the weirdest song i have ever heard......

  • Why didn't she ask "father father"?

  • she must have anger issues..... lol

  • i love it. and i love the veronicas version too

  • LOVE THIS!!!!

There was another song that wasn't her, but I swore was... anyone have any clue what I'm on about???

  • such a kick ass song!!!!!

  • anyone know where i can find "navy bean" ??? i heard her live at a festival we had in MS and it's like non existant now **sniff** i loved it when she plays her fiddle it's so cute

  • i miss the 90s

  • This is the single greatest video ever made in the history of the video age. It is perfect art.

  • I only heard about this song through The Veronicas, and I never knew it was a cover. I always thought "This is like, the best song they've ever written." then I found out it was a cover and was like "Well, that explains it."

    Awesome song :D

  • YEAH, NOW I REMEMBER THE VIDEO! COOL

  • This songs brings back memories of the 90's. *Sniff* :( Good times.

  • in her myspace she has pics of her mom and she says she loves her so much, and i don't think the song is because she's away from her mom, it's like the fear of a teenager to grow up

  • I've been hungry and dirty and very, very scared. I've had to camp in the alley and scratch scabies mites as freezing rain fell on my calculus textbook. I'm glad to see a song like this. Thank you rsv13 for the technical work. I usually watch 10 or 15 videos of the same song before I put one in my favorites, this was a first shot.

  • i personally think that tracy's version sounds smoother...

  • What a great track. I can't believe the thought of it, but I miss the 90's.

  • i read awhile back that the woman vacuuming in the music video is actually her real life mother and the man with the golf club is her step-father...seriously***

  • it's about the facade of caring many parents put up when their kids leave the house for good. the mother asks how the daughter is doing (because it's what mothers are supposed to do) and takes the "everything's fine" answer instead of reading deeper to the true "i'm hungry i'm dirty i'm losing my mind"

  • jaja me raya esta rola!!! yo tenia algunos años menos que ahora!!!! y aun es una de mis favoritas!

  • i frickin love this girl! all of her songs are AMAZING!

  • Awesome vocals just the screaming made me like "errrrrr"

  • I love how she freaks out!

  • My mom was all about the powder vacuum stuff.

  • haha mine too

  • haha oh man, I so remember my mom saying. dont forget to use the powder freshener.

my aunt still uses it!! haha :)

  • I was all about the powder vacuum stuff! I have two young-ish children and it is always helpful! lol, ahh...I've become my mother~

  • Yeah, I remember hearing this song when I was in high school. I also remember that midway through the song when she goes from singing to screaming, it genuinely scared me! haha

  • Haha, imagine if everything wasn't fine?

  • This song is just about parents letting go during the empty nest stage. Let's not read too much into it.

  • Thomas is wrong, its not about parents letting go, its about the child breaking away. there is a difference

  • +1.....................

  • i hate that powder stuff people put down before they vacuum

  • it make da caret smell good

    duh.........

  • mayb It shows how much she loves her mum, how much her mum has done for her and how she finds it hard to be away or grow up, did her mum send her away "for the best", the disinterest in mum shows mayb her M isnt listening physically or emotionally, hasnt heard her cry for help, and that is the longest post i will bore u with, or not, oh and i dont respond to mundane childish negative feedback, but a flock of mid fingers for u if u do!remember its an opinion not an educated fact isnt it?

  • i started vocal tuition at 6 by the time i was 21 i fell inlove with Tracey Bonham, her voice is close to vocal perfection in my opinion and so i learnt how to singscream, there a few women who can pull this off accurately, beautifully raw and full of energizing power, the legend herself, Janis Joplin,Bjork, a little darker but still so talented the beautiful Brody Dalle from the latest Spinerettes and the now gone Distillers, thankyou for the training

  • Easy now

  • love this song.

  • This song is way too much... I LUV IT!!!

  • For the record, this is her mom in the video. The picture on the wall is young tracy, the old guy with the golf stick is her mom's boyfriend. Not her father.

  • I love this song. This came out the year I graduated high school. Perfect song for leaving home to go out on your own.

  • IS SHE RELATED TO JOHN BONHAM???

  • no, she's not ... sorry

  • EVERYTHINGS FINE. SHES so FIIIIIIIIIIIINE!!!!!

  • i love this song so much

  • This was part of my "College Life" playlist I made. The mid 90's... we had it all.

  • That's wicked! What else did you have on the playlist?

  • wow loooooooove it when she screams everythings fine

  • i can relate to this song right now, feel like my mom doesnt care and i feel like i'm not gonna make it.

  • hey i am a mum, if u need a chat thats what i do best and i will not judge u, i have been through many many difficult times, and have experienced emotional despair, we all do, lifes big and bad sometimes

  • Wow, I used to digg this song!!

  • thats tracy's real mother

  • I love this song. My aunt and uncle showed it to me and I got addicted to it.

  • my aunt and uncle never told me about you.

  • i like this version but i like the Veronicas version better

  • Yeah, sure. Probably if you're deaf.

  • anyone who works on putting songs on the Rock Band game for ps3, xbox360, etc WE NEED TRACY BONHAM!!!!

  • not bad

  • Juliana Hatfield - What a Life

  • The melodies in this song are so good.

  • Is that Billy Jean King as her mother?

  • does anyone remember the video when the girl standing on the chair playing the guitar on something (invisible)keeps knocking the crap out of her but she keeps getting up? sounds crazy I know but I'd really like to see it again...and i have no idea of the the name of the the song or the chick who was getting manhandled by this "THING" that obviously didn't like what she was playing...HELP
