very old tune by Ben Pollack in the 1920's back when Benny Goodman had just begun, playing in Ben Pollack's orch. Glenn Miller also played with Ben Pollack.
Unfortunatley Dixie does not always gather as much attention as it deserves.
The two playing Trombone and Trumpet are friends of mine, and I've driven Tony (tpt) to rehearsals many times when he was not in right health to drive. I did not know he was such a kicikin' improviser....of course I knew Nash was a great dixie improv guy and also great swing playing! Like having a supercharged Teagarden around.
Benny sounds great as does Teddy. I wish I could have been there. Some great stuff

Why do so many on Youtube write "A Plenty", rather than "Aplenty?
turnitback 1 year ago
@turnitback Because the music is published that way. You can see the cover page on several arrangements at sheetmusicplus. com.

@hereinweymouth Thank you. I hadn't considered the possibility that the publishers themselves had perpetuated such a mistake.

@JRussoBuffaloNY Didn't Gene Krupa play with Pollock for a while? I think I remember reading this somewhere.
