  • Haha love the fact he started singing the eraser by Thom Yorke near the end

  • I love that guitar just as much as I love his music!

  • that wasnt a bad solo at all. Just because it wasnt super complex doenst make it terrible, it went with the feeling of the song and the feeling of that performance

  • makes me wanna have babies with his guitar ….

  • Why did JJ Johnson stop playing with mayer?! I love that guy! Does Steve Jordan still record with him? And are the trio still alive? Im so confused, I liked it how it was in 2005-7

  • Every time I hear this song it amazes me how much it reflects a failing relationship.

  • wonderful :)

  • 4:04 Thom Yorke - The Eraser :D sweet cover, wish he did that for the whole song

  • Comment removed

  • i hate those, who dont put the lyrics into the discription!

  • @Timoteusmusik Learn to use google.

  • @DaAceofGames

    why should I ?

it would be no problem for you to post them ;)

  • Often times... I feel like slow dancing in a burning room.... Best live version of this song I've heard so far... You can feel the guitar crying and mourning and. Gives me the chill...

  • Often times... I feel like slow dancing in a burning room....

  • he makes that guitar cry!

  • check my pianocover, with solos and everything :)

  • It's not the heart of the audience that's in this video. That's the heart of John Mayer in his music.

  • i love this guy!!!!

  • He is just wonderful. <3

  • I love it :) a great live version indeed

  • When he sing "The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear" - can it be, that it's a reference to Thom Yorkes song "The Eraser"? Well, I'm doubting heavily.

  • @Wolkenkeller probably! John is a big Radiohead fan

  • @Wolkenkeller Yeah I was so surprised. Have you heard his cover of "Kid A"? Pretty good stuff actually.

  • @Wolkenkeller it's certainly a reference to the eraser.

  • 5:30 to 5:32 shows the influence of jimi

  • classic...

  • I love the way he sings:) I think i just melted... <3

  • oh my gosh, the last solo

  • long live john mayer.

  • @jerowenlugte I think the solo doesn't fit the song very well. The LA version fits much better. Personal opinion only! Maybe I don't know music deep enough.

  • @hyperraiden I love both solos, but you can tell that the LA "solo" was not an off-the-cuff riff... he's played that or a similar version of it before. This you can tell is right on the spot, which is why it might sound sloppier than the LA one, but that's what makes me like this one more. You can also tell he's thinking of what to do next on the repeated bends. There really aren't many true solos that are as calculated and clean as the LA solo.

  • Awsome!

  • From 4:04 to 4:30 he sings part of The Eraser, he loves Thom Yorke/Radiohead.

  • This is my favorite song. Such a great melody and so much soul

  • i swear this song can NEVER get old to me, JOHN TEACH ME YOUR WAYS ON THE

    BASS!

  • 0:17, John Mayer doing middle finger!

  • 4:30 - 6:05

just had sex with my laptop... DAMN YOU JOHN MAYER!!!

  • @mavLOLs423 Thanks for info.

  • @MissDreamcatcher17 no prob

  • God bless you, Mr. Mayer.

  • 4:03 nice plugin Thom Yorke's "The Eraser". Absolutely brilliant performance.

  • Baddest Deepest songwriter to come along in a long time, not to mention the raw emotion he puts into his guitar.. GREAT MUSICIAN

  • looks like 27 people can go die in a hole...

  • @matthew1man You said it man.

  • The solo was better in 'Live in LA'. That's just me.

  • @MarvelousLight10 NO WAY!!! The LA one is perfect!

  • @iplayguitar420 Now that I listen to this solo back, you're right. 'Live in LA' was perfect. Anyway, all of his solos for this song are great!! I love them all.

  • @MsWeltwunder pretty desperate for a thumbs up aren't you??

  • 4:04 - 4:32 that was heart felt...

  • Soooo good!

  • rawr i love his guitar.. its a beauty

  • No bass?

  • @manu1695 the hearts of the audience beating to the song are enough bass to fill the hall

  • @Kevinlolification haha, best comment i've seen on any live video.

  • @Kevinlolification Haha true

  • He plays this song much less choppy now than he use to

  • @LouieLand That is what the blues. Even if it isn't 'supposed' to fit you play it anyways cuz it feels right. And actually, jazz and blues aren't really so different. A lot of the musical elements as far as note structure and things go they are very similar. Both come from the soul :)

  • Ha, loved the Eraser reference. I always liked those lyrics.

    KT

  • My ear isn't trained well-enough to know for sure, but it sounds to me that when he's soloing higher up on the neck, like at 4:58, he's adding notes from maybe the major scale when the song is in a minor key? It just sounds off to me sometimes, but not all of the time, which makes me wonder if he's mostly in the right key, just adding some "wrong" notes. Again, this is just an impression I'm getting. Anyone with a better ear know what's going on?

  • @LouieLand John Mayer is known for that, he likes to add notes that sound "out of scale" Yes they are out of scale, but in his music they all fit. It's like in Why Georgia the main riff contains an A note. It's not in the scale, but it still fits. (:

  • @heavydous Aha, that's what I thought. Thanks mans. Yeah, it doesn't really do anything for me, but then again, that's also probably because I don't expect it from the genre, whereas it's something I'm anticipating in jazz. That said, I do love this song, just not really those aspects of it. Guess that's what we'd call taste!

  • Does someone get the added lyrics?

  • 27 people are slow dancing in burned room

  • somebody got to upload a studio version of this track too. and nice version there amigo.

  • Sorry. This was one of John's worst solos ever. Come to think of it, I think it's the only bad one I've ever heard by him.

  • i wanna take my Strat to someone who can draw a cool design on it like how John Mayer and Eric Clapton have there guitars, i think that'd be sick

  • SWAG. I rest my case.

  • he got himself the jimi hendrix Monterey strat

  • AW HOW CUTE!

  • 27 People Have 3rd Degree Bruns...

  • Thank Lee for sending, this is a fabatstic music and very iteresting lyrics, didnt knw him... love...

  • love the lil Thom Yorke reference at the end!

  • WHOOOO DIDNT LIKE THIS???? >:O!!

  • i thought john mayer was lame until i saw this vid.

  • @KimCheeHuu

This isn't even one of his good performances either.

  • @KimCheeHuu i know how ya feel! i never really liked him because the media made him out to be some jerk and then one day I stumbled up on "Clarity" and my obsession grew from there lol :) he is an amazing artist

  • @KimCheeHuu That's the exact thing I'm thinking right now.

  • Mayer and the entire band are amazings !

  • Hi youtube people (♥)

Just wanted to say, John Mayers my favourite artist and has inspired me so much

  • What scale is he playing?

  • @IfearGuitars Most of his solos are based off the blues scale which is based off of the minor pentatonic
