@hyperraiden I love both solos, but you can tell that the LA "solo" was not an off-the-cuff riff... he's played that or a similar version of it before. This you can tell is right on the spot, which is why it might sound sloppier than the LA one, but that's what makes me like this one more. You can also tell he's thinking of what to do next on the repeated bends. There really aren't many true solos that are as calculated and clean as the LA solo.

My ear isn't trained well-enough to know for sure, but it sounds to me that when he's soloing higher up on the neck, like at 4:58, he's adding notes from maybe the major scale when the song is in a minor key? It just sounds off to me sometimes, but not all of the time, which makes me wonder if he's mostly in the right key, just adding some "wrong" notes. Again, this is just an impression I'm getting. Anyone with a better ear know what's going on?

@LouieLand John Mayer is known for that, he likes to add notes that sound "out of scale" Yes they are out of scale, but in his music they all fit. It's like in Why Georgia the main riff contains an A note. It's not in the scale, but it still fits. (:
