The Fact that he besides fight Monsters and Vampires doesn't excuse that he kill's other Human's only for his Religion Belief's. What make him other than an Extremist? ;)
Well, yes. He is a Berserker, trained to basically go crazy when he sees vampires. He does at the end become aware of the wrongs that he has done i nthe name of his religion and puts an end to Enrico Maxwell's little crusade. The only people who he kills who really shouldn't have died were Integra's bodyguards form OVA 1, but he was so crazed from fighting Alucard and Seras that his momentary insanity got the better of him.
Okay, in that Case... than it's maybe not so "very" bad. When he got very exited and crazy from the Fight with Alucard and Seras, it's thinkable that he kill's every next Person in his Way, too. Even when it's a Human.
However, i know that Anderson kill's "normal Human's", too - even when they approach before him and nothing is happened. ;) Sometimes it look's as when he is "only fighting back", but a Killer like this shouldn't be called a "Paladin" ;)
Not only, but this is not an Excuse either, or is it? oO
I mean at the very Point the Troops in the "normal" Hellsing-Anime in Episode 7 (or was it 8?) where Seras and the Troops were in the Underground Train.
Anderson already killed all Ghouls in there, but then he attacked and killed some Hellsing-Troops. Okay, the fired at him first... -.-
Short and for all: The "Human War/Killing" between Hellsing and the Iscariots is foolish like every other Human Conflict.

Too many people try to compare and contrast the two but they fail to see that they are both there to enjoy together... and to give the great Father Anderson more screen time. Dur! Lol. The voice actor for Anderson for the the series and the OVA is Steven Brand, that is Memnon from the movie "The Scorpion King" starring The Rock. They got pretty much the same actors from the series to do the OVA, but I have to admit too, that I like their line presentation better in the series.

Hmm :3 Ceras is not a Monster. She can go wild/crazy, because of the Vampire-Nature for love Bloody Messes and Fights ^^
But in her Heart and Personality, Ceras is the only sane Person... besides of Walter ;)

did you really saw Hellsing and "understood" what Kind of "Man and Guy" Anderson is?
He is like "fighting Fire with Fire" and this is even mentioned in Hellsing - the Iscariots are only denying it.
Anderson "is" a Monster in Order to fight Monsters with overhuman Powers on equal Ground.
He is insane and merciless - like the Freakvampires in Hellsing (and Alucard xD )
And his Body is also unvulnerable compared to normal Persons - like the Hellsing Freakvampires ones ...
