Maybe you can tell how they are subsidisided here, seems that you know much more about european economy more then europeans. There are many differences between farming all over te world and it seems that you believe that big farms only are in Australia or Northamerica, but I promise you that even in a nordic cold country like Sweden we have some prett big farms.
Allthough we still have yields that might be 2-300%higher or even more then you have that makes it not possible to drive around with a Claas Lexion 600 with 62´front/header. But still the "Subsidised" needs some explantion. Tell me what a brand new tractor like this (NH T8040) will cost where you are then we can compare.

you want to enjoy all these big tractors europe while you can, in Aussie we don`t get paid to go crops, by Goverments, and have to buy our own tractors, the only people here that would have a tractor like this is a farmer with a 100,000 acre wheat farm.
The owner off this tractor is not a contractor though and many farms do have big tractors here that is true, although we have in Europe about 3 or 4 times higher yield then you have down under, better climate and better soil I guess. I think the prices in Europe are almost the same as you have after all we trade the grain on the worldmarket and the buyers here do have world prices in their mind. Our farming has no kind off sponsor by the governments.
But i sure can tell you that we have much much higher pirces on fuel and we do have more strict rules about using pesticide here. If you have a farm off 100 000 acres it probably will have several tubbertrackers or articulated tractors in Australia. If you have about 1500 acres here many farmers do have this size off tractors here.
My godness no there are several environmental taxes on fuel but offcourse if you mean VAT that is possible get back the money on....I thnk the diesel are a bit cheaper in Denmark then here
Well, there are all kinds of taxes here on fuel, and farmers pay the taxes in the first hand.....but farmers get all taxes returned from the taxman, and sure also the VAT. So farms only pays the basic.

Thats not quite true Owen.
Farm size doesn't always dictate the power required.
I deal with this product daily, and the newer T8000 range (up to T8050). I would consider them a fairly useful tool in broadacre cropping or rowcrop. One of these machines for example maybe needed to power a 4 metre implement, such as a 4 row cotton stalk puller. All depends on the power consumed.
how come you say that? This seed bed cultivator is 11 m wide and have about 185 spring tines. The crossbord in front are made for crushing clods and that take some power. But offcourse you know the soilconditions around here making such bright comment.
To keep speed and good capacity you need this hp in our conditions.
But as you know everywhere in southern europe there are Fendt 936 (75hp more then TG285) with 20tonnes trailers on the road, here we use an old TW35 for that kind off job.;-)
