  • It's really awesome, considering this was made in 1933.

  • I just thought that my grandpa would be thrilled watching this.. xD

  • LMAO @1:04 the t rex is just scratching his neck while the girl is screaming.

  • Why the hell is she screaming - the dino have even not seen her yet. stupid woman

  • King Kong is Chuck Norris' pet monkey.

  • 'blakink.blogspot.com'

  • 1:08 There's the Dino that was sodomized!! :o

  • SEXY KING KONG 187 MAMA PIMP MAFIA

  • So classic !!!

  • Although CGI looks more "realistic", quality stop motion has a unique quality that makes it so much more lifelike. I believe it's the human touch, the animator physicaly influencing the figure's movements. I also think that when you see CGI, you know nothing is actually there, just a computer image. Stop motion allows the viwer to see something tangible making it far more life-like.

  • In the new version, this scene took half an hour.

  • OH MY GOOOD!!! IT LOOKS SO REAL XD

  • MY DINO MY DINO

  • omg queen of dirt is so right! this is scary. "hides in a hole"

  • I just LOVE this movie XD

  • I actually saw this on TV the other night...

  • DEAR GOD... IT ISN'T A DINO!... Wtf?

  • 55555+

  • Oh my God it's awful xDD

  • o'brien did this by himself using 1930's technology ,but whatever happened to Fay Wray?

  • 1933: HOLY SH*T, THAT LOOKS SO REAL

1960: i guess it looks pretty real

NOW: what the f*ck are they trying to prove?

  • I hate stop motion! I laugh at modern "scary movies", but every time I see an old movie where they used stop motion it scares the hell out of me, I mean the monsters move so stiff which makes them look like if they were somewhat retarded but in a scary way like when normal people with a dark bakground gets affected in a way and suddenly they turn into psyhcopathic killers. If you know what I mean....

  • All the time they put into the stop motion is amazing. Now movies suck because now you can just do the CG. I rather have something like stop motion than CG sometimes because of how cool the monsters looked as they moved. ^^

  • OH GOD IT'S SODOMISING THAT HUMAN!

  • 1:28 - 1:39 if you just replace the audio with a song like, i don't know, Iris by the goo goo dolls, they seem like a lovely couple.

  • My mom never let me watch King Kong because she thought it was "too bloody and violent".

-______- She encourages me to watch Saw.

  • OH DEAR GOD IT'S SODOMISING MY DINO!!!!

  • If she hadn't have screamed the dinosaur might not have even noticed her

  • Aww, I love this. xD

  • Way to fucking sit up there and scream when a dinosaur is charging at ya! Man how movie women have changed over the years ^^

  • what a classic!

  • DEAR GOD ITS SODOMIZING MY DINO

  • @Jgewelz I loled =))

  • It's gonna' look awesome just wait!

  • Ray Harryhausen > everyone else, but thats ofc my opinion.

  • Humon! I don't undertsand how you got a Dinosour from King kong!?! You logic confuses me!

  • @Mrsnosaviors If you watch it all you'll see there's a dino in there somewhere ^^

  • This is what movies were like 70 years ago. Movies nowadays are already so realistic. It makes me wonder what movies will be like 70 years down the road...

  • I remember seing this on a new years eve. I didn`t even go to school. I was five or four. I cried when King Kong died.

  • oh humon

  • I love classic movies like this. Not the biggest fan of black and white but I love old monster movies.

  • Yes! SCREAM for the T-Rex to find you better!

  • This king kong is scarier than the new one AND the creepy monster from rudolph the red nosed reindeer.

  • That particular speed that stop motion characters move at always seems to freak me out for some particular reason. :P

  • My word this movie is old... No, that's not a complement. I'm not praising it as a classic, it's just old...

  • Reminds me of rudolph. Just the twitchiness of the movement ya know? But it's old so i ain't dissin!

  • "It's gonna look awesome later!"

  • 463 thumbs up already. Wow.

  • That looks fucking weird but funny! :D thumbs up if you think so too please.

  • ...damn this was a lot better than i expected from a movie that old~ hurrah for movie magic~

  • Yeah sure, Humon sent me here, BUT I AIN'T NO THUMBS WHORE!

  • @blaineisvip You are now :P

  • @xxKaoruLoverxx Never asked for it tho

  • @blaineisvip You are now.

  • @blaineisvip now you are!

  • @sasuketiger A thumbs whore is someone who asks for thumbs. He/she did not ask for the thumbs, therefore he/she isn't a thumbs whore.

  • @flamingserpanite strange, i don't see where i wrote ,,what/who is a thumbs up whore?'' but thanks for caring. but still, practically he is, because he said ,,Humon sent me, but i ain't no thumbs up whore'' to me it kinda looks like he asks for thumbs ups, but doesn't want to let other people know.

  • @blaineisvip You are Now MUAHHAHAHAHAHA!

  • @blaineisvip You're a fellow fjer, aren't you

  • @srskate2214 What's a fjer?

  • @srskate2214 I'M A FJER!!!!!!

  • @blaineisvip wierd youre comment got 666 thumbs up.....

  • @skygod227 Your*

  • @blaineisvip woahhhh that's not over nine thousandddddd *yet*

  • @blaineisvip Thumbs up if Humon sent you here

  • @blaineisvip 1088 thumbs for you...

  • I have no problem taking this movie seriously, despite the stop motion. Except for parts like 0:30. My god, those eyes just crack me up.

  • Oh, yeah, lady, scream so the dino notices you. Good idea...

  • stop motion creatures are more creepy than real ones in my opinion

  • I hate stop motion, it scares me shitless each fucking time

  • @Ewiryh It's the eyes, I think...

  • The golden age of cinema.

  • Poor lizard at :50.....very funny.

Also at 1:00...the T. Rex just looks at the poor defenseless girl and scratches the side of his head....

    Very good movie...

  • One the most iconic moments in movie history and in my opinion the greatest movie of all time. It never gets old.

  • Wow... older than the draft of the Bible. xD But it's amazing.

  • YO!!!!! K-K!!!!!!

  • Actually, they didn't have foam rubber-it was liquid latex. This was applied over cotton which covered the steel ball and socket armature, or skeleton. In Kong's case, they used rabbit fur for his coating. At times, the stop-motion photography took months to complete. When we think about the hands-on techniques involved in the making of this movie, the results still look pretty amazing today.

  • how did they make this ?

did they use clay or something...but then how did put a real peson and a moving clay monster in the same picture?

    anyone know?

  • Comment removed

  • @xxxm0ris Sorry, I deleted my first reply.

Willis O'Brien, Who was the Special Effects Artist for this movie, used two different techniques to get a animated monster and a real person in the same picture. The first technique was that he would film the animation and real people separatley and mix the two scenes together. The second technique is that he would film both the animation and real people at the same time.

  • @Utubeman67 ok cool thanks

  • @xxxm0ris They were stop motion models -- three dimensional metal armatures with cast rubber on top that could be animated one frame at a time within miniature sets.

Some times, within those sets they would build *miniature* rear projection screens on which pre-filmed live action would be projected one frame at a time and the models would be synchronized with the stop motion models.

Other times, they would shoot stop motion footage and project them on large rear projection screens.

  • (cont'd) (2) -- as big as full-sized motion picture theater screens. In front of those screens they would construct partial sets that would blend in to the rear screens. So depending on what needed to be in the foreground -- the people or the models, you'd have tiny rear screens within miniature sets with the models in front of big rear screens with the people in front.

They also used tiny stop motion people in scenes where Kong actually carried somebody.

  • (cont) (3) If you look carefully in some scenes (for instance on top of the Empire State Building) you can see when the live action Fay Wray in the tiny rear screen switches to a tiny stop motion model Fay Wray as Kong reaches down and picks her up, only to switch back again as he puts her down.

They used other techniques -- for instance a process known as a traveling matte, when rear projection was impractical - say when Kong came through the big wall - but it was only partially successful.

  • Great cinematographery!

  • oh my gosh !

  • I hate every ape i meet from chimpan a to chimpan z

  • No, I'm not forgetting Steiner's magnificent music - it's inseparable from the film, as is Fay Wray.

  • @kovik62

    agreed the music was awesome

  • For anyone who appreciates great, magical filmmaking, there's really only one KONG, and he's been the KING since 1933.

  • that knife kicks ass :D

  • this is the worst load of crap i've ever seen

  • @LenniePiano its better than you

  • The later big budget versions (1976 and 2005), made two serious errors (in my opinion): they portray Kong as a giant, but actual Gorilla: (Not so, originally he was a creature hundreds of years old, neither man, nor beast), and secondly, they tried to make Kong too human and lovey-dovey with Ann Darrow (especially the 2005 version), obviously so the audience would feel closer to Kong, and mourn his death. These changes made the later releases too mushy.

  • Aye, there was emotion and pathos aplenty already in the original..... Sometimes, a film really, really, really does not need to be remade.

  • Aye, there was emotion and pathos aplenty already in the original.

Sometimes, a film really, really, really does not need to be remade.

  • @rolex452 ....I did not think they were mushy at all.Bottom line was the gate.#2 really sucked, the gate showed this.Kong was a giant gorrilla,to compete on skull island,Kong was NOT a "Dinosaur",Hundreds of years old?Try millions.

  • @rolex452 Hay,brainless hundreds of years?????Even thousands is only what?1800's,Nope..Try millions, and open a book, why don't you? Kong was a Giant Gorrilla, and as much man as we are, being his desendants (Darwin).

  • @rolex452

completely agree with your comments. In the 1933 version, Kong was as much a Dinosaur as the other creatures on that island. He had a sense of mystery and awe about him. All we got here was an oversized Gorilla. The Ann darrow scenes in the new movie made my toes curl. juggling and the egyptian dance routine to entertain Kong and the scene where he is sliding about the place on his arse was rediculous. I dont know what Peter Jackson was thinking about there.

  • @ATVmidlands5581: thanx you caught my drift. You shouldn't try to make a monster too "cute" or give it too many human emotions & values. Another viewer billy1212ist said I should read a book about Darwin, as Kong is a real gorilla MILLIONS of years old, where I said that THIS PARTICULAR Kong (the one living on Skull Island) was hundreds of years old. Billy should be reading the book: modern day gorillas did not exist millions of years ago, nor did man or any other of the modern primates.

  • is this real? The movements of the gorilla don't look natural.

  • knocks spots off the dire latest remake. a classic.

    atvmidlands

  • @ATVmidlands5581 this is a classic-incredible work, and these people obviously put their heart and soul into this.Don't see that much at all these days...

  • @TheDorr71

How true. This movie is astonishing even today. The creativity, the workmanship, the sounds/visual effects and the atmosphere of the film for 1933 is absolutely breathtaking. It must have blown audiences away in 1933 - only a couple of years after the addition of sound to movies. incredible really. The new movie missed it by a mile.

    cheers

  • @ATVmidlands5581 Yes-the scene where the dinosaur chases the men was terrifying, one of the men trips, they know it may only be a matter of time...also the music right before the dinosaur runs into their raft. Everything in this movie fit.I still find it fasinating to watch.

  • @TheDorr71

Agreed, thats a great scene. The log scene in my opinion has not been beaten yet by any of the remakes. The tremendous roar of Kong is awesome too in the 1933 version.

The original Kong was as much a 'Dinosaur' as the other creatures on skull island - it gave him a great sense of mystery and awe. In the new movie all we got was an oversized Gorilla. The brontosaurus stampede in the new one is one of the most rediculous scenes ive witnessed in a long time.

  • @ATVmidlands5581 Don`t forget the film score by Max Steiner-it`s a classic in it`s own right!A very witty person(Oscar Levant)described the film as a "symphony with visual accompaniment".

  • Black and white=more scary indefintely, 2005 version wasnt scary for shit. in the 1933 version that creature that chases the men out of the swamp is fucking scary, the scream that the man gives when he is eaten is bone chilling.

  • King Kong ain't fucking with ya!!!

  • Not bad at all for 1933 work, I can't even begin to think how they did it so well. Almost 80 years ago this was made, I bet this frightened everyone on its first release

  • I think the T Rexiod has psoriasis.

  • Watch Signals the biggest youtube series ever!

  • Moral of the story, don't fuck with Kong.

  • i prefer this one more than peters jackson version

  • thats some scary shit

  • this reminds me of the lost worlds

  • das ist die handschrift von harryhausen.......

  • it`s a very good sound for a 1933 movie !

    it`s mono but well recorded

  • Was This Really Made In 1933 Or Was Just Set In 1933?

  • @shannonh1994 made in 1933

  • @icjburke Ohh Okay Thank You :)

  • it's funny seeing some one scream because of a giant clay T-rex

  • @LegoKing345 The models weren't made of clay, they were made of a combination of foam rubber, cotton and latex. Do some research before you try and diss this classic movie.

  • @yourmom26297 i dont think it was a diss. its just someone saying what he finds funny. sorry not all of us are the 1930's king kong model professionals like you.

  • @erice495able You don't need to be a professional to know that, a simple google search will do. The point is it's sad to see the ridiculous myth that stop motion = claymation perpetuated. Also, the sweat and the soul that went into making these creatures come to life should not be dismissed as funny clay dinosaurs. Certainly, laugh if you find it funny, but give these artists their due respect.

  • @yourmom26297 They had clay models also,different sizes,different scenes,I looked it up.And 24inch metal,rubber,latex,rabbit fur.

  • @LegoKing345

    its called "acting"

    and use some imagination

it was 1933, before computer animation

if a t rex was coming towards u, a person would either scream in fear or be petrified

  • Comment Removed By Chuck Norris

  • 1:50 - Come on T-Rex turn your swag on

  • for 1933 everyone has to say. this looks relaly good

  • Yup CGII requires time... but stop motion is more difficult. I do both.

There's no re-run in Stop Motion, there's no "perfecting" you have to plan it and get it right the first time, you can't tweak, you can't move lights, it's holding your breath all the time.

People rely too much on computer, nowadays... What I do in CG takes much less time than doing it in Stop Motion... and I can always fix it. But stop motion is more challenging. Requires more planning and there is no Undo! ^__-

  • As far as I am concern, this is the greatest movie ever made because everything associated with motion pictures was create here.

  • 0:06-0:12....lol, kong was trying to be sneaky.

  • that's a more realistic reaction if king kong was stabbed in the hand by a human.

  • Comment removed

  • @HeavyWeaponsGuy1231 actually the movie you're thinking of is the 1976 King Kong.. There's no such thing as King Kong from 1979. And you have allmost right, yes, many scenes were a guy named Rick Baker in an apesuit, but many scenes were also robotic. Did you know that they actually created a lifesize robotic King Kong for the movie? Don't know if it exist today, but there are a few black and white pictures of it..

  • @Spyflugan91 A full body King Kong,"giant" life size ? Nope."Parts"?...yes,Lang,sat in a giant life size hand.A foot and bottom leg,and head and neck. The robot was 20 feet tall used in 2 scenes,Looked real phony too.Dino De Laurentis got beat.

  • at 1:06 the t-rex is like: *scratches its head* "stfu bitch!"

  • @VitalSigns1 Troll.

  • @VitalSigns1 yo u troll cuz it's not cool when u go to vids to say they are not cool dude

  • that looks so stop motionie

nowadays its so diff :o wow

  • EASILY ONE OF THE GREATEST FILMS EVER MADE......THANKS FOR POSTING THIS.

  • king kong is just to cuddly n' cute lookin' when he notices the last guy in that cave, lol. It's like he's sayin' "aha! ! i see you down in there! hmmm, i'm gonna be stealthy & get ya!"

  • Yeah i think some people bash CGI to much, its not like i say puppets or stop motion are bad and CGI is used too much i agree but it can look very well like in Lord of the Ring or Hellboy 2 and it is hard work for sure.

Sry for english im from Poland

  • @otakumano Hellboy 2 and hellboy was done with mostly practicable effects

  • WOW im 20 n i enjoyed this! thought id av a look to see if the origanal had all the jungle/diinosaur scenes like the new one has. N it does! thats cool :D best bits of the movie wher hes still in the jungle x

  • 100%entertainment

  • The end is hilarous.

  • Young viewers of this classic film: Please don't be so literal, and say "duh, that King Kong looks so fake! He doesn't look like a Gorilla." You must close your mouths and open your minds for once....watch the movie and LISTEN to the dialogue: Captain Englehorn was telling the story of King Kong, who was looked upon as a God to the natives for very very long time. Kong was a creature WHO WAS NEITHER MAN, NOR BEAST. Kong was NOT AN ACTUAL GORILLA, but a creature who resembled one somewhat.

  • @rolex452 I'm 20 and I love Kong. Would never say a word against him. However, you're right, some people watch the film ready to jeer at it without letting themselves enjoy the magic it provides.

  • @rolex452 ..Yep that = Giant Gorrilla, period. Also think the brains of the average 1930's person was what?7th grade if you were lucky. There were several models used, for different tasks. The 24 inch metal armature, covered with rubber latex, rabbit fur,the armature clay-like,and the clay, all with different uses.I still watch it now and then,it is just great the job they did, hard to beat those oldies.

  • itsfunny how back then that was scary but now we all just take the piss out of it

  • holy shit is this real?

  • @Jerrickoh lol what

  • Cool!!! This is like a pop culture museum...only a cool cafe concept. I am impressed and like this. Thank you Chloe!

  • Women in the 30s sure as hell knew how to scream.

  • nice

  • The thing you have to keep in mind is that most of the visual effects you see in this film were improvised. These guys were just winging it most of the time. When an extremely difficult and complex scene was staged and shot, such as Kong's battle with the T-Rex they would process whatever they were able to accomplish for the day and then visually review the developed film on a daily basis. If there were any mistakes or something did't look right YOU SHOT IT OVER AGAIN!!!

  • compare this to the new one

  • @TheLovemeorgo

And it wins. The new one is a load of shit compared to this.

  • hats off for the legends. The director, producer, camera men, guys who gave effects...artists....out standing in 1933

still love it. i dont knw but upon watching these old movies a feel of peace comes every time in heart. world seems to me pure n unselfish

  • @twilightandnewmoon10

You have the username "Twilightandnewmoon". I hardly think any Twilight fan is going to be taken seriously. Go away, learn what REAL movies are like and what TRUE MOVIE FANS watch, go through puberty a little, then come back to us with some maturity and an IQ OVER 40.

  • @twilightandnewmoon10 : come back when you understand what classic means!

  • @twilightandnewmoon10 Clearly you like shitty movies rather than Classics I pity you. Really you like Twilight over this, this is a sad day for movies and true movie fans.

  • the only thing that ruins this is that fact that the gorilla looks so obviously fake...almost cartoonish...but for its time the effects were outstanding

  • Oh my gosh, despite the cheesyness of this version, i like it better because the new version was SO FREAKING LONG

  • @TheCell114 Oi a new zealander made that film!

  • Gawd I get tired of her screaming after about 5 seconds.

  • Da war die zeit, wo Sspielzeug laufen lernte.^^

  • J'adore ces effects speciaux tout pourris : D

  • @MultiIdees Ben.... c'est exqusite! (i speak englesh but i am learning french im trying to say i agree but ill just say thats its exquiste for now Salut!
