Melva was actually real nice in person, she was just super nervous. They actually edited out a part in her game because the register wasn't working. She was from Colorado and had been to the show over 100 times. The producers recognized her and that's how she got picked. I gave her the price for the dirtbikes. After the price is announced, I'm the first one to jump up in the background...
Whenever we go out in show business some like to go out with a bang; that is exactly what Bob is doing. I love it when people do that; having a fall and offer another car to that contestant is extrodinary. It will probably the last time we see the fake-outs, Drew won't do it the same way. Melva as I know was waiting in line for 5 days to get into contestants row so who can blame her for her excitement. It must have taken a toll on her mind. Any Number was first, Any Number was last.
I didnt want to say this but the guy who introduces the prizes sounds like Goku from Dragon Ball Z. Im serious. Look up a video here and see how alike they sound.
Here's an interesting piece of trivia: Double Prices was the 3rd game to debut and the 3rd to last game played. Also, it was the first game to be lost and the last game to be won.
There's a lot more interesting pieces of trivia that can be made by comparing the first episode and this episode.
that's true!! i also realized that they played the same 3 pricing games that they originally started with in 1972 for the second half of the show, but in reverse order. On the very first show, they played Any Number, Grocery Game, and Double Prices in that order.
Actually, the first three games played were Any Number, Bonus Game, and Double Prices. Grocery Game was the 4th game to debut. So in order it was: 3rd game, 4th game, 1st game; it wasn't the first 3 are the last 3.
However, all games (except Plinko, which debuted in Season 11) debuted in the 1st season.
Where did you hear/read Grocery Game was the 2nd game to debut? It was the 4th game to debut, which was on September 5, 1972 (the show's 2nd episode).
