@keltonfloyd Unfortunately, the "harmonies" is not the only point to take in mind when you are judging if the plagiarism exist. The note progression is almost identical, the main idea of the melody is clearly identical. Sorry.
interesting, since i was defending x-tracks- plan 94 since the beggining not that i dislike coldplay, i like them but it's interesting to know this, btw, David Guetta also failed in his track when love takes over, exactly the same piano melody, xD
Can't really say one stole from the other considering that Konami made both the games and the music for them were made way before Coldplay existed, So its kinda silly to call them Coldplay thieves.
@DeLe1000 Are you? Coldplay's progression is chord 1, chord 2, chord 2, chord 3, repeat. This game's progression is 1,2,3,4, and the chords are not the same, mainly because it's in a DIFFERENT KEY!
@drmmrx1 Those little differences don't save you from been a plagiarist.
If this way it was might it raise 5 semitones to any song, change the progression of chords and not be a thief?. Thankfully it is not like that. What do you think about Coldplay - Talk?, its a melody of a Kraftwerk's song called Computer Love (with kraftwerk permission), what do you think about Joe Satriani's - If I Could Fly?, the melody of this song is used in Coldplay's - Viva La Vida. Yes, "minimal" differences. LOL.
COLDPLAY TOTALLY RIPPED OFF THIS OBSCURE JAPANESE ONLY GAME!

The harmonies are completely different. No plagiarism at all.

You could be on to something...I actually do hear the similarity. I also feel Linkin Park ripped some beats from Castlevania games....

It probably just is a coincidence but it does sound similar

@arpee9216
99% of legitimate plagiarism is not intended. Intention (especially lack thereof) is not a factor in a plagiarism case.
It's similar but the harmony (the "emotion") is completely different, thus it can't be plagiarism.

This is a pointless fight, I see no plagarism what so ever

@drmmrx1 Ok man, i accept your opinion.

@drmmrx1
I agree with you that it's not plagiarism, but not because of the reasons you give.
Viva La Vida was deemed plagiarism of If I Could Fly even though the chord progression was different as well as being in a different key.
In this instance, it's not plagiarism because the context (harmony + groove) is WAAAAAYYY different, even though the melody line is kind of similar.
Cheers :-)
