  • soo right marillion is not marillion without fish. superb, saw them live lots of times in the early days, used to fancy fish something rotten

  • the end is missing! don't give me your problems!^^

  • marillion is the best 4 ever

  • just amazing, a masterpiece

  • yes, this song is totally fantastic. i cannot believe how goog a lyricist Fish is. his solo stuff seems to prove he was the major creative force behind marillion..

  • brilliant song, lol quite an abrupt ending, couldve done with a few more minutes of that!

  • love it , and love Fish playing so many characters

  • "This a song about drunks"

    - Fish

  • @christopherharmon I thought it was a song about his character in The Jacket (Only decent role that wasn't Daniel Craig's)

  • @christopherharmon suicide m8. listen to the lyrics. he sat there thinking bout the reasons he slashed while he bleeding. song saved me and sounds like it saved him!!!!

  • he knows ya know ...bazz

  • Love it :)

  • Saw them at Reading Festival in 1983,absolutely amazing !

  • I remember when I first heard this in 198 somrthing, it just blew me away

  • Amazing video... this is my first time seeing this, but some of these scenes I have seen in my dreams...

Mark Kelley and Steven Rothery are the "doctors" talking outside the padded room Fish is haunting, yes? And isn't that Peter playing the part of the joker? I didn't see Ian...

  • 1:18 Its kumar from harlod and kumar go to whitecastle LOL

  • amazing song

  • great listen havent heard it in two decades for sure!

  • The voice...einfach einmalig

  • Got into Marillion after watching Jute City, and I am still scared of Fish if I say anything against him,

  • fish looks fushed.

  • LOVE THIS SONG!! Their first hit in Syracuse!

  • how many albums are there (without live) of the marillion with fish? its 4 right?

  • @RezzKalozzTV

ehmmm no 5 album...if you include the bsides!

  • @darakuT ah okay. thank you!

  • I absolutely love this song, as well as this album, but I can't help but misshear one of the lines as "justin beiber crawling up your bathroom wall", and it makes me very sad.

  • Francescodraghi1989 I tip my hat to you for all of these incredible Marillion videos, you are without a doubt THE MAN when it comes to these!

  • wud love to meet fish and go have a beer with him..

  • love this song, all marillion with fish are fookin fantastic, listen to tham all all day.. drums and guitar are just spine chilling

  • die Stimme von Fish ist einfach genial.

  • Mrillion without Fish are CRAP!

  • a friend i have used drugs and he liked this song and he knows he knows rip jocke

  • awesome song, great video, AAA low budget but very cool

  • awesome song, great video, AAA

  • Great era with Fish in Marillion!

The "new" Marillion, with the new singer is is is the not true Marillion!

  • A video!! Magic. Thanks for this.

  • CANCIÓN INTRIGANTE Y TORMENTOSA DE MARILLION.... ¡¡¡¡BUENÍSIMA!!!!

  • WHY AM I TURNED ON TO GUYS WHO LOOK LIKE NERDY OFFICE WORKERS?!!!

  • Great song, but I hate single edits of songs that sound just perfect in their original length lol

  • @xeractus I know! Just like the terrible edit of Dee Purple's "Child in Time", which originallly is one of the most beautiful songs ever written.

  • Absolute classic.

  • Five people thumbed this down... is it a grudge? Some sort of moral stand? Like the song but hate the video? Always hated the song and loaded it just to give it a bad rating? Just enjoy giving bad ratings in general? Somehow misled by the title? WHAT???

  • fkin brilliant live. missed seeing fish with these but seen em 3 times wi steve hogarth and seen fish once. lovely bunch of fellas. do prefer the old stuff wi fish better tho

  • sorry but i f*cking love this song! fish was great. i saw marillion several times after he left but no, good but not really in the same league.

  • damm good ;)

  • Scary and profound. A brilliant combination.

  • greatest moments with FISH...

    the best years of MARILLION...

  • @mtvful If he wasn't, then I'm confused lol

  • @mtvful Was he a herion adict ?

  • @Silmarillion1973 herion lol thats a bird innit lol (btw i know its a heron)

  • @whitefox1970 My brain thinks faster than I can type LOL

  • @Silmarillion1973 lmao me too!! (adhd) :)

  • @whitefox1970 me too

  • awesome!

  • its jethro tull :P

  • Fish used to be a forest worker at Bowhill Estate here in the Scottish borders before he started the band Marillion and I often seen him walking around the town where I live. He lives near Haddington in east Lothian now, But I think his lyrics are so poetic and a bit like Jefro Tull

  • he was always a fat bast. but what a lyracist. i grew up with this stuff. ment loads.

  • Brilliant (pronounced with scottish accent) !!

  • G R E A T !!!

  • Great song .........with warnings........album version is the best tho ........slashed wrists ,.....pumping arteries ooz the problem through the gap that the razor tore ........

  • This is for so many years now one of my favourite songs, so good to hear it. Reminds me of the best time in my life with my beloved Biggi <3 best friends 4e

  • Marillion with Fish just amazing. Saw Fish last November, he did some of the old Marillion stuff - absolute quality.

  • @LycansGrim

Sorry to current Marillion fans but to me it's like Queen losing Freddie Mercury...... But to me Marillion died when Fish left. They lost their main asset.

Although they are all very talented musicians.... It's like fish without chips, Zeppelin without Bonham. It just isn't the same anymore for me.

I'd rather go see Fish live than Marillion. Yes I agree he is still quality and I also saw him a couple of times recently!

  • @chymist66 Ah, fair enough, but shame you only saw fish in marillion, marillion was always more than 1 man. As much as I loved fish, I think marillion matured so well without him, you have to admit they made some fantastic albums after fish. Saying that, misplaced childhood will always be my most favourite album ever.

  • @Drummerkins

Agree with you on many levels. To me when one band member is so strong and defines their work then it ain't the same anymore. They are without a doubt fantastic musicians. You've seen the advert BMW more than the sum of its parts.

Fish was the heart of the band. Fugazi is my personal favourite album followed closely by Script. Misplaced is good also but reminds me of a previous girlfriend who I choose to forget. Bit of a bunny boiler.

  • @chymist66 THANKS FOR YOUR LIFE STORY THERE MATE, YAWWWWWWWWWWWWN

  • @Drummerkins What are these fantastic albums you are referring to? The only one i can think of is Season's End and there was probably a lot of stuff left over from the Fish days.

  • @LycansGrim Yeah absolutely! I mean, it's not that the new Marillion is so bad, but for me the Hogarth-period will never be Marillion. It's another band - which I will never be a great fan of. This, on the other hand: as great as it can ever be.

  • IF IT SUCKS, dont listen to it ya muppit!

  • Ein Stück Jugend. Unwiderbringlich. Aber Marillion hat´s konserviert!

  • Great song,Fish is a good singer.Nice trips anyway :))

  • can you hear any disadvantages of this song?

cause i ve found one xD

it s just a three minutes of great music ;d

  • totally agree with you ;D

  • the original version has 5:23 minutes of greatness.

  • no,no. again JUST 5.23 minutes of greatness... ;)

  • Stare dobre czasy..

  • do you think, by any chance, that fish had seen gabriel's shock the monkey vid before filming this?

  • In the days of redundancy and companies just closing down, this is actually how alot of people are feeling right now...me included!!

  • Yes, my favorite number one. Go for it Fish...

  • This is an awesome video and one of my favourite marillion songs. The acting is actually quite descent too.

  • Video clips ruin the magic of a good song.

  • Peter Gabriel didn't sing Turn it on again. That would have been Phillip Collins doing that after Gabriel left the band. And then there were three.

  • I know it!!!! But understand the comparision pal: Imagine Gabriel singing light genesis themes...jajajajajaja RIGHT?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • One of the greatest songs i ever heard.

    Fish is a poet

  • @harlekin1970 unequivable!!! lauriate.

  • marillion the best group ever shame still not with fish there shite with out him

  • Problemos, problemos...

    I'm pissed off as hell.

Tired of being 'the victim'...Per the movie'Network', "I'm as mad as hell and won't take it anymore"...

From now on, I'm be the one doling-out the justice.

    My justice.

  • Get that, bitch?

  • Fish forever! Come back!

  • PROBLEMI SEMPRE , MA CON MARILLION DIVENTA TUTTO MIRAVIGLIOSO, COME MAI, NON LO SO, MA E COSI.....lui lo sa,ye,ye,ye

  • F-ing BRILLIANT imagery! Such chaos. Such poetic cacophony. It's rare that a video can be almost as fantastic as the music it represents! And Fish... Beautiful Fish... You are music to my ears. and eyes!

  • Comment removed

  • Fish, you struck my soul with 'Clutching at Straws'...... Come back to Marillion for the love of God!!!

  • Great clip

I love SFAJT as an album :D

  • Oh Mr. Fish... How I wish you recover your voice and rescue Marillion band.

  • Fish...where are you now??? THe new singer of Marillion is terrible!!! Please come back!!!!

  • The jester :)

  • superb...ce e bun, bun ramane...

  • I share the same birthday as Fish ! Cool ! 25 April

  • how great does it feel! i have the same birthday as the alice in chains singer(old one).

  • great song, incredible voice

  • what a handsome Fish <3

  • One of the best from Marillion :'D

  • Yes

  • who the ek compared this to suppertramp ?

  • reminds me of supertramp a lil 0_o

  • Like what?....SUPERTRAMP?? Aww, nuts...

  • thats the video version.a lot shorter than the album version. some people are too quick to judge....

  • oi you only played half the song you n00by dumbass

  • Great stuff. I hadn't seen this before. Thx for posting it.

  • It means of drugs and the bad effects it can give in using it in excess.

  • Hey Im a great Marillion fan, and I love almost everything from them from fish period to marbles^^ and some of somewhere else, but this song never get my attention, and I stilld dont know what the lyrics mean, can anyone tell me, maybe when I know the meaning of the song I can appreciate it:) thanx

  • It's about dependence upon authority figures, religion, doctors, parents so on to rather than taking responsibility for your troubles yourself.

  • It specifically refers to LSD. The title "he knows you know" refers to the idea that people who take LSD somehow "know" something more than everyone else.

I saw Marillion in 1983 and Fish introduced this song with the following "Is there anyone in tonight on acid? I pity you."

  • excellent!!!

  • watch?v=DKKGzntUc0w watch this!fish has humor lol!

  • wlak aaaaaakkkhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Who should ever reach his voice???

Great !

  • XShinjoX - I'm with you here - but more so - not words in the whole God damn universe to express Marillion at this time -this song is sublime-need to find the extended version of it (12"- here in the UK)Can you help me???

  • There is not a word in the whole god damn universe to express how much fish rocks. Truly I love it.

  • I love the strong synth sound and punching bass in this song. I think he does have a Peter Gabriel quality. I seen them live in the early 80's in a small outside venue in Buffalo, NY when Fish wore makeup. This was the best song of their show that day.

  • Really cool. Fish kinda sounds like Peter Gabriel, don't you think?

  • Creepy for it's time

  • I always thought this song (and video) was cool. Anything from the first album is just really awesome.
