I dislike shock/ E-collars. Mostly because i know someone who decided to try this, with a trained professional, and it only intensified the behavior. Resulted in a beautiful dog being put down.
I agree that its everyones responsibility to train their dog to be an outstanding citizen. The owner of the GSD did nothing wrong to put the muzzle on, he was protecting his dog and others. There is such a thing as a reactive dog, and just thank your lucky stars that the GSD did NOT react to that stimuli.
my dog is really doggy agrissve but its only because shes trying to protect me and that she doesnt like dogs sniffing her butt :/ im really trrying to get this fixed
I have a German Shepherd and a Rough Collie and they're very aggresive to other entire male dogs. But I've had to train them out of it, it's been a difficult road. I only ever let them off leash at night when there's no dogs or at least only other large dogs around. The jury is out with this kind of collar, but seeing this, am leaning to it. Impressive.
@K9Dojo My friend has a shock collar and the funny thing is! I am a dog walker and the dog respects me more then he does them, He gives them problems and try's to bite people. With me he doesn't hung or do any of that at all. It's all who holds the leash, it really is!
@HedgieDiva What kind of dog does your friend have? It's possible that your friends dog actually respects your friend more. If the dog is not being aggressive or trying to bite people with you then its very possible that your friends dog is just being protective of his owner. Many dogs that are protective or overly protective of there owners often show less aggression when away from there owner. But with out knowing more about the dog it would be hard to say for sure.
@HedgieDiva At the same time I do also believe that some things are related to the handler also. But like I said good chance in this situation the dog is just being protective of the owner.
@phaorhdogI I'm writing this just to let you know I saw your comment.I believe your comment is "and that's how to misuse a shock collar" (please correct me if I'm wrong). If I am right in presuming that is what your comment says I'd love to hear what you think the correct method to use a "shock collar" is, which method you would use to correct this behaviour, and what your dog training education is. I'm always happy to discuss the methods which I use

@1bcopeland The E-Collar collar was on and used with responsibility.
E-Collars as i call them, Shock Collar as you would call it.
They both have similar names. My Style of Collar Training is a lot different, then the way you sound like you seen, or heard people use them.
Also The Tri-Tronic Collar is a better result and it proved once again that e collars works
Only When used with RESPONSIBLE Intentions.

Fake? How would this be fake? An e collar sends a feeling that is like nothing else. It doesnt hurt, but its not pleasent.
