The adult male lions must protect every lion in the pride. They have to watch for other predators. They protect all of the lions, not just the cubs.

Some male lions have been known to eat their young. I don't think male lions and baby cubs get along too well actually.

That's rude, the lioness are strong and independent they are the ones who hunt and take care of the cubs. They go through labor, while all the males do its eat, sleep, mate, roar, mark. That's it. The male lions are lazy and really don't do anything.
