Wha tcan i say, or anyone for that matter, this was Mr. Motown.....his voice alone really open the door that push Motown to it's peak......can i get a amen!!!!!
this wasn't released because motown went out of their way to fuck their great artists such as him the four tops, shorty long, martha and the vandellas. motown didn't promote the greats.
michael jackson is da greatest entertainer of all time but not the greatest singer this man right hear owns that honor marvin gaye is very close behind him but david could hit all the notes marvin could but marvins voice jus wasnt strong enough to reach the pits dat davids voice could
man...his voice is truly unmatched. thank goodness 4 youtube so we can listen 2 lost songs like this. thanx "ruffan"...im sure david had a method 2 his madness cuz a man could sing this song evryday hopin tha tomorrow will neva come lol
David is really one of the unappreciated voices in music history. A lot of his problems WERE as much because he was an asshole as much as anything else but the man could SING hands down better than ANYONE in mowtown INCLUDING Michael.
What can anyone say about David The Great imortal man. He is truly the greatest individual to ever sing a song. I grew ou with he and the Temptations in the Motor City and had the distinct privelege of watching him perform at the Phelps Lounge in 1969. Gone but never will be forgotten.
The pain and anguish can really be felt in this one. Man... David Ruffin was too brilliant at puttin himself into his music, classic mark of a legend.
I could listen to this song a million times and it still isn't enough!! Ruff's voice is absolutely, flawlessly awesome. This man was fighting a losing battle with the powers that be in the music industry and it must have sent him on a downward spiral. Today artists have high-powered attorney's to make sure what happened to Ruff won't happen to him. He will never be forgetten. It's been 18 years and he is still in the hearts of his fans.
many of these songs should be re-released into mainstream R&B but maybe slightly speed up the beat. He has soooooooo many remarkable songs that didnt get the proper airplay. We need David back in heavy rotation.
Alot has been said about what David Ruffin should or should not have done with his career at Motown. Yet, no one wants to discuss the shabby way in which Motown Records treated its' talent. The TALENT and that includes every act that recorded for Motown, the songwriters, musicians, choreographers and anyone else associated with shaping the Motown sound is what made Motown Records a very successful company. Without the TALENT, Motown Records would not cease to exist.
I agree! A lot of Motown artist were left broke and had to sign over the rights to their music, leaving with NOTHING! I am strong enough not to mess with drugs but a lot of them weren't strong enough. Can you imagine all the heart and soul this man put into his music and can't get paid nothing for it. They didn't even market his music like they could have. That will make a lot of people go crazy!!!!RIP David. I understand your pain even if no one else does.
@dnichols31 i know fuck motown til they release all this great albums that david ruffin did cus they understand us fans will buy them as well eddie kendricks albums this guys recorded alot great stuff i want all the solo albums by this guys ill will buy them if motown would stop fuckin siting on them til then FUCK HOTOWN
I wish I could go back in time(around 1964)and tell David that he could not only be a multi-millionare, but be the best entertainer for the next 50yrs. If he remainded humble and off drugs. That wouldnt be asking much.
i wonder what he would think of the state of black music at this present time seems like were going backwards from the great artists xcept the underground hiphop scene i dont really see any really great musicians coming through hopefully we'll have someone of davids calibre for my generation and the next instead of stoopid lyrics and zugga zugga music

Many of his solos just lacked melody.
Deep southern style soul not melody based.
